Are cutscenes included in the final time for speedruns for this game? Gnarslogge's run doesn't include them, but Itakenaphere's run does. Thanks.

In the rules I read you're supposed to start from a fresh save file and in Gnarslogge's run it appears they start from a save file that was already made which would remove the opening cutscene. I think maybe the game needs an NG+ category if runners are doing this. I am thinking about running this game myself and it doesn't make sense to me to not include the cutscenes in the time.

In Gnarslogge's run, he only uses that save file to skip the opening cinematic. Time starts when you first gain control of your character. Watching the cutscene, or loading a save file (that as soon as it saved you quit out) are both valid and basically the same. All cutscenes during the game will be counted towards time aside from the final cutscene in which time ends when the loading screen appears.

I thought time ended when the gold on certain death appears on screen, I might be wrong?

The rules should be updated then. Saying you have to start from a fresh save file would imply that it is not okay to use an already existing save file to skip the opening cutscene.

Sadly, I cannot edit the rules otherwise I would.

Also, you get the gold on certain death moments before finishing the coaster so stopping time as soon as the cutscene appears (Signaling the end of the game) is more practical.

Yeah I would edit the rules too, but unfortunately Gnarslogge hasn't been active on here in awhile.

I think by a "fresh" save file, it means a file that has 0% progress. Time starts with first input, so the opening cutscene doesn't matter.

Yeah, though I think it should mention "A save file that has your character at the entrance of Horrorland" so people don't position themselves in a spot closer to a ride.
