There have been so many requests for new categories, so couldn't we just make a category extension for all the suggestions?

Nobody really runs different categories though, or at least I basically never see anything suggesting otherwise. If we are to add a leaderboard for a category it should be interesting enough that there is some sort of competition, before there is a leaderboard here. Those are my thoughts on categories anyway.

mods really need to respond to what weve been saying- there are already two threads about a sexy hiker easter egg run, and many speedrunners have already DONE those runs. there should definetly be a new category, since right now the only real one is glitchless, which is just the default. snake only has 38 verified runs in total

While I haven't formally suggested a category extensions board, I did ask one of the site's full moderators whether one makes sense for this game and if it'd get accepted. It was heavily implied that the way the category extension boards are used now (for novelty or "meme" runs) is not what they were originally meant for and might get phased out for a better solution down the line. With that in mind it was instead suggested that any runs that might not be suitable for the front page get added under "miscellaneous" instead. As for actually adding more categories, I'll go into more detail about, specifically getting to the easter egg as a category now.

@Sen Yes there are two threads about the sexy hiking easter egg. One of the threads was made by you, had 3 replies, one of which pointed you to the original thread, another being a reply by yourself. The original thread has a mere three people directly expressing interest in running the category. Now compare that to Snake% which had 60+ people voting "I would run this if it was on the leaderboard". Of course we now know that it "only has 38 verified runs in total" and the decision to include it as a category has been brought into question before. So keep in mind that a lot of people like to express interest in something that they might later not follow up on, as shown by snake%, and that we've had only around 10 people show interest in running a category based around getting to the easter egg in the entire lifetime of the game.

Some of those people probably aren't even running the game anymore. This has always been a very niche suggestion, something not a lot of people have been doing, so we do not see a reason to add it as a category. This was explained, albeit in a less detailed way, by Tairoon in the original sexy hiking thread so I don't appreciate you implying the mods have not responded already. If you find it a fun category then by all means run it. You don't need a leaderboard for that. Even if you do, it doesn't need to be on speedrun.com yet. Maybe if you run it, more people see it, someone even keeps track of a couple times, you can show that I'm wrong and, actually, people do want to run it. After all, that's what we did for the base game before we had a speedrun.com page.
