Forum: Tomb Raider (2013)

Thread: 100% Clarification

Started by: genesisprobegenesisprobe

I never said you shouldn't beat Mathias, but I just noticed that the way the ruling is worded, technically, the run would end upon reaching the last camp, because the game judges progress and file completion based on the collectibles, camps and challenges. I saw Vamp's run, and saw he beat Mathias, but I was moreso questioning the rules instead of the validity of his run. Due to the wording, I just wanted to clarify.

I also agree that beating Mathias should be the end of the run, but again, wording of the rules is unclear in what the ending should be.

I was checking the rules for 100% and the rule says upon completing the final challenge to get 100%, which the Ziggurat has 100% completion after finding the campsite. Would that mean that we only have to go to the campsite to finish, or actually defeat Mathias?

Edit: The rule says, specifically, "Timing ends when you complete the final goal to trigger 100% game completion...," which is, indeed, reaching the camp before the ziggurat

I just realized, upon seeing that video, that I was doing this for the wrong game. I apologize to all you guys, but I actually looking for Tomb Raider (2013). Dread, I see you are a mod there, so I'll let you know that I am running that game. I am sorry to everyone here, this was my mistake. But hey, this still counts as thread for anyone interested in 100%.

I believe towards file completion, they do count since they also have percentages associated with them, but I am not completely sure about it. I can do some checks.

Edit: From my research, it appears that in order to achieve 100%...er, 99% file completion, you do need to earn all the skills and upgrade all the weapons. Then of course, the last campsite at the Ziggurat counts as 100%

Question. Since both the weapon mod and skill sets count towards that 100%, do you think they should be included or excluded in a run?

Awesome. I still need to work out the kinks in a route, but I just wanted to know ahead of time if you guys would be cool with it.

Hey guys, I just got this game recently and I already have been thinking about how to speedrun it, and I run The Last of Us as well in the All Collectibles category, and I was wondering if that could be added here. I think that would really create a more difficult run that would be more rewarding for anyone who wants to tackle that category.

So you think that could be a possibility?

Thread: Probe Placement

Started by: genesisprobegenesisprobe

One of the things I notice during runs a lot that isn't explained is the probe placement during skip travel. I was wondering if I could get an idea as to what probes were being placed where. I'm pretty sure the reason is to gain miranium and secondary earn credits, but I was never sure what the exact placement and what probes went where were. So I was wondering if I could get an explanation for that.

Thanks for reading and/or responding.

I don't know if this is too much to ask, but do you think maybe you could make a sort of guide for doing the run? It'd be really helpful, and it's a little hard to follow the video for the world record. I just think it'd be really useful and make learning the route be a bit easier.

Maybe later on, I can get tips for fighting from you, since I consistently just have trouble in fights even being set up in ways I think are very sufficient for my level and standing. But the chance of finding a single prime collectible from any given item orb in an area something like 10% or less? I always seem to have difficulty finding a single one in some areas, such as Sylvalum Waters.

Then I guess I need to learn how to fight and set things up, cause I was just kinda doing casual running and only ever got at most 70% at 30 hours. Maybe I should learn from you guys then XD. And the Collectopedia has the counters in it for 100% per map, but that's more RNG and just searching specific areas hoping for the right item orbs to spawn.

Just throwing this out there, but it is even logical to try for a 100%? There is so much in the game, and I tried doing some stuff on new files, but I always clocked over 30 hours before getting 60% of Mira, and affinity grinding seems to be required.

If there was to be a 100% speedrun category, which I always enjoy running for games, what would be the specifications? Would it be all Pure Plats and chests and witch hearts and pearls? or what else, like the books, weapons, enemy indexes. I was curious what the specifics might end up being.
