For this leaderboard https://www.speedrun.com/blood_dungeon , there's been a new run that has been posted, but for whatever reason, for the fact that it has the "YOLO mode" tag, it doesn't show up by default unless I manually choose "all" for the gamemodes, any clue why?

After some time thinking, we, the community, decided to split the boards for the 2 versions. So you guys can all submit your runs, regardless of the version, as the new engine is now also accepted.

I'm not sure where to ask this, but I feel like posting this isn't so bad.

So the community of Fireboy and Watergirl decided to split the leaderboards due to the fact that games were remade with a new engine. So I created a new variable, put 2 possible values (new engine, old engine).I made tge variable obligatory to fill, and it so that different values wouldn't obsolete each other.

The result: All the runs that were on the boards got deleted, and that without a warning that it would happen, despite having a default value set.

Luckily it only ruined this leaderboard before I caught it: https://www.speedrun.com/faw1

Could someone do a rollback of this leaderboard, and please, put a warning so that this unfortunate situation does not happen to anyone else?

Thanks in advance.

Hey guys,

So about 2-3 weeks ago, this game got added to the Fireboy and Watergirl franchise https://www.speedrun.com/faw3ice , but without the series being added (was it a mistake?)

Furthermore, someone in the community told me that there is a run that has been waiting for a verification for over 3 weeks with no response from the mods.

Also, I've PMed the mods of the game, with no response whatsoever.

Could someone add the series mods to that game so that there's someone checking this game? Thanks in Advance!

Hey guys,

Could it be possible to add this https://www.speedrun.com/faw4tct to the Fireboy and Watergirl (https://www.speedrun.com/faw) franchise? Thanks in advance!

Due to the popular demand (2 people asked for it), there is now a Discord to discuss about the games!

BTW, here's the run done on a remake https://www.speedrun.com/faw2/run/zg7g5kjz
I think we should just remove those to be fair (the skip is impossible to do on the original version), due to the fact that it may have other differences.

So for a while now, I've allowed pictures of the end screen as a proof for ILs. However, today, someone proved me that it was not acceptable to do so.

https://www.speedrun.com/faw2/run/zx4dww5y

As of now, I was thinking of removing all the runs that included an image instead of a video, and I've wanted to see what opinions the community has about that.

Also, a few weeks ago, someone posted an IL of level 26 where they skipped pressing the button on the first floor to allow Fireboy to pass. The thing is that the run was done on an unofficial remake of the game (the mechanics looked completely different), and the skip is impossible to do on the original version. So I've thought about banning those version that are not the original version that you can find on multiple website, such as ArmorGames or the Fireboy and Watergirl website.

I'll give 1-2 weeks before removing said runs unless someone can give better solutions.

At least with BK the lag is not too important (the in-game time is about 8 minutes away from the real time, which shows how small the game is).
On the other hand, for BT it's about a 50 minute difference for the 100 % category, which is about a fifth of the run. So not having lag would make the real time VERY inccurate, and it does not help that the game may crash at any time for no reason.

Yeah, any website that is used for video hosting like YouTube, Twitch, DailyMotion is fine.
A tip that I can give you to make it less hard for your PC when recording is to make the game smaller as OBS needs to capture less details, along with your browser lagging less too.

As long as you play the a certain version of a cartridge on the same version of a console (NTSC cartridge on NTSC console, or PAL on PAL), There shouldn't be any problem with that.

Thread: Is beak barging possible on xbox

Started by: Newt801Newt801

Hi! Some glitches like egg barging and clockwork warping are patched in the Xbox version. Sadly there doesn't seem to be any good route for any% no DCW for the Xbox version, because very few runners have run the game on Xbox.
There is however this run that is played on the PAL N64, which has the same glitches patched and has an outdated route, but that's all I could find.

If you want a better opinion, you should join the Discord and ask the community about it.

Hopefully my reply was somewhat useful 🙂

Hi! As the only mod and the only person to ever do a run of a game, The last samurai, I want this game to be removed. Since this game was added almost 2 years ago, this requires a full mod or an admin to remove.

I have never messed around with that one, due to the fact that it looks so inconsistent. I also think that the uses for that glitch would be so restricted, do to the fact that, in most cases, you want both levers to be activated.

Hey gonengazit !

There are not really any guides as to how to speedrun this game, so I'll try to describe some points that can save time overall.

If you want to learn the strats, I would say that the 1 player any% WR is probably the best way to learn them. Keep in mind that most of the skips save less than 5 seconds each, so if you find the shortcut routes too hard, you can always do the levels the intended way.

There is one skip however that you should learn, and it's the skip that happens at around 6:10 in the 1 player WR. It's not that hard to do, and it saves 30 seconds. The way this skip works is, by touching the wall just before the peak of your jump, you get a bit of extra height from your jump, making the skip possible.

As how the general movement goes, jumping up slopes (including levers/buttons) is faster, and going down the slopes makes you go faster. Sometimes you lose speed if you touch a ceiling as you are. Sometimes hitting the ceilings is useful if you want to cut down on the air time before being able to do another jump.

A cool mechanic with jumps is that, if you press the jump button in the air, you will jump on the first possible frame when landing on the ground.

Of course, using the same level route each time is also very useful, because you remember what button(s) to press at the beginning of each level more easily.

Hopefully these tips makes the learning of this game easier. Have fun !
