In Frogger Beyond, there are some levels where if you kill yourself, you'll save time because a checkpoint you passed is close to a goal or an area where you need to get pass, but it requires a key, and that very checkpoint also has a pathway that leads to an area that has the key. You can also save time by dying because it can cancel boss animations and sequences.
