I have tried to reset abuse through the tower gate and i believe it was one of the screens that it didn't work on.
I realized this while using reset abuse but it still applies when not using it so i figured i would share it. It seems that the gates do not unlock by use of the keys but actually by defeating the boss itself. For example Skelord's gate in ice world will open once he is defeated even if you don't pick up the key. This could save a few seconds in certain places in any% so it could be useful to know. Same concept applies to events so this also works for Ludo, Lil Fatty and the Jetpack key (same would probably also apply to the other keys but there is no way to avoid the key for those). I, however, would not suggest skipping Ludo's key as it seems the quick fly mechanic is given to you upon picking up Ludo's key.
K finished the version number stuff. Had some technical hiccups at first so sorry for all of the notifications that might have gotten sent because of it.
Btw made a DLC category :) Will make a version variable as soon as i find out what versions exist.
K there's a lot to unpack here: -First off i have talked with Alex and he is working to make Reset Abuse work again so i'm still tentative about making changes to anything involving that. -I will definitely add a patch variable but won't separate the boards because i feel the main game is still similar enough from patch to patch. -Definitely considering adding a category for the DLC but i think it makes sense to not care about version numbers because the older versions will probably never be run. I want to keep the rule of a lot of other speedgames where if there isn't a run of it there is no need to have a board for it. -I will absolutely fix that typo -I will also add that to the 100% rules. -IGT should be discussed in a different thread but always open to changing to it as long as runners want it.
you could abbreviate it. People have the same problem with genocide categories. I don't want to change the name simply because a robot accidentally flags it as offensive.
I came to this based on looking at other lbs NMG is definitely something that i will potentially change it to but for right now i think this is fine. I will also be revising the rules to explain what reset abuse is.
K there is now a split in all categories for reset abuse versus no reset abuse
actually my bell rule isn't always true. k not sure what is preventing me from doing it on certain screens.
so it seems to not work on rooms that have a bell, any room that requires a cutscene to leave the other way. There are a few exceptions to this but this is a good rule to go off of.
this isn't a softlock this is a hardlock because you can't undo it at all the only way to fix it is to delete the save. Anyway maybe Reset Abuse then.
we're also gonna need a list of rooms that it doesn't work in because it has the potential to hardlock the game.
