Version differences don't matter for all the big skips, with the exception of rabbit clips not being possible on the Korean version. Check the Guides section for some tutorials.

What's the progress with fixing runs now? I notice that the PSS time I proved impossible is still up, and I doubt that's the only one. It seems like your Shocking Arrow Lifts! times are incorrect too: with a very clean run I didn't come close, but adding the time difference of how you mistimed your runs gives you a pretty average time. If you tell me which runs are still up that are wrong I'll just reject them all. That would previously have gotten confusing when you were actively deleting and replacing times, but now that isn't the case as you're less active.

Discord is a messaging site similar to Skype, it's become very popular in the last couple of years. That's the best place to ask questions and chat with other runners. It's mostly text chat, though there are also voice calls in races. We have a channel with resources there too, including routes for all the categories.

Get Discord here: https://discordapp.com Use this link to join the SM64DS server: https://discord.gg/Dpg2cYH

If you don't want to use Discord for some reason... 8 Star route: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yp1aeClYEWMOcB8zyKWDvhVBLmUSQZ2A-LljU56lItE/mobilebasic 80 Star (Luigi) route: https://pastebin.com/nXdmrUZm I'd definitely recommend it though :)

Celeste has two different in-game timers. The first is the one displayed in the corner in levels: this pauses while the game is paused, during cutscenes, and during deaths. The second is the overall timer, which can be seen on the file select screen (and also on splits if the autosplitter is being used), and runs during all those things the first timer stops for. It only pauses between levels. The first timer is used for ILs, while the second one is used for full game categories. As this second timer runs both during the credits and during the Epilogue, it's necessary to complete those to be able to access the file select to view this second timer, especially if you are not using the autosplitter or are on console. Hope that clears it up.

Runs with a - is because "Platforms obsolete each other" is turned off. This means you can have both a Wii VC and a Wii U VC run showing on the leaderboard, as is the case with place 39 in 16 Star VC. That runner is actually 23rd, so the slower time is shown but not given a ranking.

You're still getting the Android app from the Google Play Store, so just submit under Android.

From the guide on setting up for a full-game run ( https://www.speedrun.com/boxboy/guide/91bqr ): "Time starts right when you press a button on the "Press any button to start" screen."

ScotlandReally_Tall6 years ago

It's in the Guides section, would be good to have it here too it seems. https://www.speedrun.com/smr/guide/ve74m

On a similar note, the run counts on a user's profile and on the statistics page for a game include rejected runs. This shouldn't be the case. Example: https://www.speedrun.com/user/ChanceCossitt/info has 2 approved runs and 1 rejected run ( https://www.speedrun.com/run/zgnqkv0y ), but the profile says 3 runs.

The statistics "Number of full-game players" and "Number of IL players" are incorrect. They've been matched up the wrong way around so that the full-game player count is displayed next to "Number of IL players" and vice versa. This can easily be observed by looking at a game that doesn't have any ILs, which will say that every player is an IL player.

An option to have the "Automatically verify run" button unticked by default would be appreciated. I am submitting many ILs to a game I'm mod for and having to remember it every time is irritating. Not too important, but hopefully quick/easy to add...

Yes. We'll be discussing in the Discord exactly what we want to do about full game categories, but ILs for World ⭐️ and Special Course ⭐️ should be up soon.

ScotlandReally_Tall6 years ago

Not doing parts of full completion in a certain category is completely normal even if arbitrary, for example 79 and 96 shines in SMS. And like SMS, there is a more prestigious category that does get those omitted shines/star. Beat BitDW and Beat BitFS are "race categories" too and they are listed in the Misc. section. It's not like there is a massive problem with categories being added left and right anyway as there are more main categories than misc. The point about a 3:42 WR is interesting: allowing anyone to submit a run of 150 to the 149 category might make sense as you are getting everything required by the category and then extra, meaning the WR would currently be the same as the 150 WR. Don't know how others feel about that though... on the fence myself.

As Fox said, it's U 1.0 only. It doesn't even work on J 1.0 despite that coming out less than 2 weeks later I think... I wouldn't worry about it though.

If you go to your profile and click "Pending actions" you'll be able to edit it yourself.

I have attempted to contact all IL runners of this game, however a couple left no contact method. Please reply here if you wish. The message I sent out:

Hello. You are receiving this message because you have a run on the Super Mario Run individual level leaderboards. I have been attempting to change the individual level timing for single levels (NOT full worlds) to use in-game time (IGT). However, this issue has been a bit divisive so there is now this poll. Please read the reasons for and against switching to IGT within this pastebin: https://pastebin.com/mbU5pUUy

You may vote three ways: IGT RTA Don't care

No response after several days will be taken as a vote for don't care.

Cheers, Tall

There isn't a proper route without Moat Skip since everyone just learns it for 50, and does 80 otherwise. It would start similar to 80 I guess, doing some WF stars with Yoshi, and then the other WF stars would be taken later as Mario. The basement stars missed out from the start would just be taken when you go back there anyway. So I think you might actually be able to take exactly the same stars, apart from having to grab Behind Chain Chomp's Gate, and then removing one other star.

ScotlandReally_Tall6 years ago

I'll remove the run for now then. The time should be possible though, and there no Mario runs just because nobody has got around to it yet, I was planning to do more of LLL soon.

There are barely any pause blocks in the game, it's not a big deal for older runs. Saving IGT using bubbles is probably a slightly bigger factor, but still doesn't affect many levels; there are a great amount of levels that don't even have submissions yet anyway. "supposed to be worse" is not how it works: if the run is timed using IGT, then the real-time is irrelevant. There is no "wasted time". It's a completely different criteria to time runs. Changing to using IGT so things such as lag are not an issue is the most important thing here, and in this thread there are 5 people supporting this change, while you are the only one against, and don't even run the game. I appreciate your efforts timing and verifying full game runs, but the choice for IL runs seems clear here, and my offer to retime all current IL runs still stands.

Luigi has a faster speed, and the same strategy works, so it sounds reasonable.
