Let's get this back on the main forums page 😃

Please feel free to ask any questions about the event here. Good chance you might ask about some things I haven't even considered, so it'll be a good chance for me to cover them 🙂

Q: Is this event only for PlayStation games?
A: Nope! I feel like they're often neglected in speedrunning marathons, so I'd like to emphasize them in Fleet Fest III, but you can still submit anything you want. Games that have appeared on a PlayStation console - even if you're not running them on a PlayStation yourself - will be considered ahead of those that have not. But the entire theme is optional! Submit anything you wish.

Q: Can we submit races?
A: Yes, but at a limit of 2 participants.

From the Oengus site:
The event is set for March 19-21 (adjustable depending on submission volume). Submissions will close February 21 and may be done either here or on speedrun.com.

Got a few questions:

1. Any restrictions, information, or stuff that might be important to know about that might look bad if passing along the info about the marathon? I do know a few people I might be able to pass along the info to that run PlayStation games but I want to make sure I know if there's anything really important people might look at as far as reasons not to submit. (It's probably not going to come up but it's the just in case)

2. I'm assuming that PSP and Vita games are also included in the wanting to show off PlayStation games? (They aren't listed so figured I'd ask to confirm)

3. The event is online right? Stupid question but it's always worth the double check.

Thanks for taking took to answer these questions even if a few are dumb.

The only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask. Though with that said....

I don't entirely understand this one. Submit speedruns. Most of them will make it in, a few won't (unless there's a TIDAL WAVE of late submissions). That's....all there is to it?

As long as they have submission videos with runner mic. I'm not wild about the idea of a live cam video of a handheld console, but I could live with it as long as the audio makes for a watchable run. If it's PSP/Vita gameplay captured through a capture device, then there's no issue whatsoever.

Yeah. Runners will stream to their normal streaming accounts, I will restream on the marathon channel.

So yeah, will the event be online, and can we participate as viewers and fans?

The event will be streamed on http://www.twitch.tv/fleetfest. Check back after submissions close to see the exact schedule! And who knows, maybe you'll be a speedrunner yourself in due time 😃

A few things:

EmeraldAly,;
My first question was more about passing along the info about the marathon. Since I know a few of the smaller speedrun marathons out there that usually have a separate channel on their discords to help ptemote other events and marathons was going to pass along the info about the marathon as I know a few of the people do run PS games. It was more about asking if there was anything really important I should know about since I was planning on doing that.

Question two was asking about the PlayStation handhelds since they weren't listed on the list of PlayStation systems on the about page for the marathon and might be worth mentioning they are welcome as well there are some people that might not think about that when they think of PlayStation systems.

Constance:
If you ever want some advice on how to get yourself speedrunning don't to send me a message as I'll help where I can with answering questions.

Also don't ever be afraid to try and create a speedrun for a game that might not have one. That's also a fun way to get yourself speedrunning and it's a good way to help show off a game you like.

I'm honestly quite bad at networking and promotion. If you'd like to spread the word, please feel free!

Even the Playstation theme is voluntary, at the end of the day. I won't accept a Nintendo or Xbox game until everyone who submits a Playstation (or Playstation-adjacent) game has a run accepted, but even that probably won't be an issue.
