The command \g_maxfps allows you to change the maxfps in-game.

How do you use this command? Open the console by pressing the ` key, and then type \g_maxfps 100 Default value of \g_maxfps is 500. If you have a stone age pc and have no more than 200+ fps, then this command is not going to do anything useful.

Why lower your fps? Because this is an old game and the framerate affects a bit of the physics and movement. (not like in Fallout 76 where you can move 5 times faster because of higher framerate) but some jumps and ledge proning can be done faster with lower fps. In other words, you can do some skips faster with the \g_maxfps on 100. Also the new Volcano skip where you need to get stuck on the elevator is much more consistent with g_maxfps 100than on regular fps. (Almost impossible on very high FPS) All the skips are normally possible on normal FPS, only on lower FPS some become much easier and much more consistent.

IMPORTANT NOTE 1

\g_maxfps is a console command. In the rules it says no console commands. This means you cannot use this command mid-run. If you want to change it, change it before you start the run. Changing mid-run will invalidate the run. You need to change it once per session (untill you close the game). So everytime you startup the game, you need to change it.

IMPORTANT NOTE 2

I know the command says \g_maxfps 100 but in-game you will get fps higher then 100 (between 100-190), this is correct. The command doesn't cap at exactly 100. (yeah, stupid right?)

Why 100? Well, setting the command to 100 (so actually between 100-190 fps) is low enough to have an effect yet high enough to not notice that much stuttering. You can set the maxfps to whatever like 50 or 200 for example, but in our experience 100 is the best.
