Sample run video:
Description: Technical, fast and fluid-looking platformer with some cool looking trick, skip, zip or quick kill happening constantly, this run has little-to-no downtime during it and keeps constant high pace throughout. It's a very stylish looking game that's been received well at past marathons.

Game Name: Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams
System: PC
Category: NG+ any%
Gameplay Estimate: 1:20:00
Possible Donation Incentives: Soundstyle: cute only / punk only / both | no ooB/ooB |
Sample run video:
Description:
"Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams" is a fast paced precision platformer, based on an old SM clone released in 1987. The core mechanic of this game is switching your character "Giana" between two forms, the cute and the punk, each world having effects on the environment such as platform position and passageway opening, in addition to this, each form has a skill attached to it. "Cute Giana" can "twirl" which allows her to reach greater distances at the cost of movement speed. "Dash" on the other hand will allow "Punk Giana" to rapidly move forward into one direction and destroy enemies on her way.
This run contains a lot of precise jumps, fast paced platforming, 2 interesting ooB, in both you skip a good portion of each level and in one you even kill a boss being outside of the bossroom.

Preferred time: between 1 p.m. and 1 a.m. GMT+1

Additional Info:
So the ooB is something you really want to see, especially the first ooB where the Boss gets killed from outside of the bossroom, so possibly the run could go in as an no ooB run, with the ooB's as a donation incentive, wouldn't price it too high though, cause nobody knows this game 😃

There is also a small glitch at the end before entering Gurglewocky, the only thing that does, is get rid of the music during the bossfight, just works when you enter the boss for the first time though... could also be an incentive...

Game Name: Metroid: Zero Mission
System: Game Boy Player
Category: 100% race with Eagle and LordAlu
Gameplay Estimate: 1:20
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 0:05
Sample run video:
Description: Technically the most popular metroid game on speedrun.com, MZM is a run with no downtime, lots of shinesparks, and years of re-routing and optimisation under its belt. Almost completely unbroken, 100% does contain one new glitch compared to ESA14. You guys know what you're getting with this game, as it's been in the last two marathons - hopefully you're not sick of it by now. If it does get submitted to ESA16, I promise it'll be a new category at least!

  EagleEagle

^ Just confirming that I'm down for that race. Also submitting another game, but I'd definitely prefer ZM before this if you have to choose.

Game Name: Metroid Fusion
System: Game Boy Player
Category: Any%
Gameplay Estimate: 1:20
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 0:05
Sample run video:

Description: The first of the GBA Metroids. It's fairly story-driven and linear, which unfortunately means a lot of text and downtime. It makes up for this by having a lot of tight movement and probably some of the cooler boss fights in the series, including the loudest Ridley ever.

Oh also, I normally play the Japanese version, but I could also play the English version. Obviously a run with a fair bit of text might be a bit more entertaining to people if they can follow the story along the way. If you want me to play on English, add 3 minutes to the estimate.

Sample run video:
Description: The sequel to the original SiN and the only game in what was supposed to be a trilogy of episodes, this game runs on the Source engine and therefore allowed me to completely break it using things such as prop flying.

Game Name: HotLead

Possible Donation Incentives: N/A
Sample run video:
Description: Top 10 on every GOTY 2015 list, this 1-man Unity game is the best 3rd party action shooter you have ever played and is therefore incredibly broken since you can fly using your explosive fist attack.

Game Name: SOMA

Sample run video:
Description: From the creators of Penumbra and Amnesia, the next installment which brings yet another amazing experience, though we skip about 75% of the game with various glitches such as clipping through walls and flying on props. We have recently found some new strats so I expect my PB to improve in the near future.

Game Name: Postal 2
System: PC
Category: Any% (Enhanced Mode)
Gameplay Estimate: 00:35:00
Ending/Bonus Estimate: N/A
Possible Donation Incentives: N/A
Sample run video:
Description: The highly controversial sequel to Postal and considered a classic on PC, runs on the normal category contains loads of walking and is slower but this category allows for the game to be completed in under 20 minutes IGT!
This is due to a glitch which allows you to fly using the shovel. Other then that there are several skips for each errand you have to complete such as skipping triggers, doing precise shots, abusing the unstuck system and more.

One of CAPCOM's better RE games. Features a lot of difficult dodges and a glitch that swaps memory values. I have beaten this particular run by a few minutes but the recording messed up several times. I also hold the WR for this game.

if that doesn't work, then I suppose this:
http://www.hitbox.tv/video/836958/

Description: My main category and one that has yet to shine in a big marathon. This run was only really done in a marathon during ESA 2015 by MartinForslund on the second stream. This category is a crazy display of skill and requires consistancy to do well in. This the Crash game that introduced time trial relics, which are normaally obtained on revisits, but with a dozen or so really tight and difficult one cycles (collecting gems and relics in one go), you can save tons of time, and they are sure to impress. A few new extremely tight one cycles have been proven to be possible in this game in the last few months to save 2 minutes, and deserve to be shown off in a good marathon run.

Just want to stress that i'd really much prefer to do a run of 105% than any%.

Ending/Bonus Estimate: Nothing
Possible Donation Incentives: Play the game (50-75€?)
Sample run video: It's a secret game.
Description: Save the world from the Prince of Darkness, includes pigs much like the ESA-pig. Is totally a meme game. The game is "safe" and has plenty of continues, brutal physics and the best ending screen ever.

Description: Race with Tenebrae (and possibly more?)
My first speed game, now with more glitches than ever. This race can either be very very close, or a total blowout thanks to several big frame perfect (and actual frame perfect, not just BS 5-frame perfect scrub frames) glitches.

Game Name: Mega Pony
System: PC
Category: Rainbow Dash%
Gameplay Estimate: 30 minutes
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 3-4 minutes, but can be cut early.
Possible Donation Incentives: None
Sample run video: http://www.speedrun.com/run/0zn3nply
Description: Again with the ponies! A Mega Man fangame with ponies that is much better than it has any right to be. Last year someone else actually started running this game, not the same category as me but some shortcuts can be done by any character. So it's been improved since the ESA bonus stream showing. Rainbow Dash is the most technical character to play and run the game as and in my opinion makes for the best viewing.

Game Name: Ragnarok Battle Offline
System: PC
Category: New Game F-Swordman any%
Gameplay Estimate: 1:30:00
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 2 minutes of credits. If I remember correctly, they can be sped up by holding a button, but I don't do that in my video. Can be cut early.
Possible Donation Incentives: Character name bid war. Name is visible on top of the screen throughout the entire run, 8 character limit.
Sample run video: http://www.speedrun.com/run/7z01588y
Description: A side-scrolling brawler based on the MMORPG Ragnarok Online. When starting an entirely new character, F-Swordman is really the only viable character for a speedrun due to the amount of invincibility frames one of their special attacks provide, which helpfully also is one of the strongest special attacks in the game. A speedrun primarily consist of figuring out how to beat all enemies as fast as possible, and there's a large amount of boss monsters in every stage.

Game Name: Super Mario 64
System: Nintendo 64
Category: 120 star
Gameplay Estimate: 1h55m
Ending/Bonus Estimate: None
Possible Donation Incentives: None
Sample run video:
Description: Super Mario 64 is one of the most well-known speedruns, and for a good reason. Technical movement display throughout the entire run with very little RNG and downtime throughout the run, it's just about 2 hours of constant gameplay with interesting routes for the stars, and a large variety of glitches. Not much else to say about the game itself, what hasn't been said is very likely already known.

Game Name: Mario Kart 64
System: Nintendo 64
Category: All Cups (skips)
Gameplay Estimate: 35m
Ending/Bonus Estimate: 2-5m (can show off a few fun things not shown in the run)
Possible Donation Incentives: Bid-war between Yoshi/Peach/Toad (all work in the run)
Sample run video:
Description: Mario Kart 64 is one of the classic Nintendo games that many still have fond memories of to this day and recite as one of their favorite games. Lookin aside popularity, this game has a good depth in gameplay, and getting to a top level can take thousands of hours. Although the time trials community is the original MK64 community, the speedrunning community has pushed some new life into the game with the speedrun categories. The skips category is very interesting due to abusing items and the opponent drivers to skip parts of tracks that would not be possible to do in time trials. The run is short, fun, and although it has quite a bit of RNG, on average it shouldn't matter too much on the final run.

Game Name: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
System: PC
Category: Any%
Gameplay Estimate: 1:00
Sample run video:

Description: The run is fairly simplistic and easy to follow, yet during the platforming, is still a quite expansive experience for a speedrun. The run showcases a number of skips and tricks, as Harry Potter blasts through his second year at Hogwarts, in this puzzle/platformer classic, that is sure to cause some nostalgia amongst the people. This run was also showcased at ESA 2015.

Game Name: Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus
System: PS2
Category: Any%
Gameplay Estimate: 1:10
Sample run video:

Description: A fairly fast paced speedrun, showing off some pretty cool tricks and skips, whilst still staying true to it's genre, being a platformer. I currently hold the best known time for this category as of submitting, and I think the run has a certain charm. As with Harry Potter 2, this run was also showcased at ESA 2015.

Game Name: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
System: PC
Category: any%
Gameplay Estimate: 1:28:00
Sample run video:
Description: The first Harry Potter game on PC - filled with physics breaking, superjumps, and plenty of glitches-er I mean magic; such as canceling cutscenes with one click or jumping once to skip a boss fight. Though at first glance it seems boring and long, the gameplay is suprisingly tight and well optimized. The only of the good Harry Potter PC games to not have previously been featured at an ESA. A couple of the many noteworthy tricks are at 5:37, 16:23, 30:53, 48:40, 1:21:00

Game Name: Ramone: Teh Gaem
System: PC
Category: any%
Gameplay Estimate: 0:26
Sample run video:
Description: The meme version of Rayman with a fully fledged out game! A short but dank memegame. Ramone would like to become an independent Walrus, so he must collect enough Dank Memes to enter the Meme Temple and be granted a wish from Carlton Danks. (Yes this is a real game that people actually run). Really quick and entertaining to say the least.

Game Name: Command and Conquer: Generals
System: PC
Category: GLA Campaign Normal
Gameplay Estimate: 1:15:00
Sample run video:
Description: A run that is a tad bit on the RNG-side. Estimate is safe, much because of that. The main focus of the run is on the Tunnel Network glitch, which requires fairly fast inputs and discretion. I'm fairly rusty atm, but will start training again.

Game Name: Stalin Subway: Red Veil
System: PC
Category: Any% easy
Gameplay Estimate: 0:15:00
Sample run video:
Description: A very glitch-heavy and fast-paced speedrun. You venture through 8 levels, and do a wide array of skips and glitches on almost all of them. Recently found out a skip, that let's you speed up the autoscroller-stage by taking in-game screenshots.

  DrakodanDrakodan

Game Name: Sonic Adventure 2: Battle
System: GameCube (Playing PC Steam version)
Category: Hero Story
Gameplay Estimate: 45:00
Sample run video:
Description: This run was seen a few months ago at Insomnia55, and was very well-received. Since then I've been practicing up, both in consistency and learning new strats and tricks. The run offers a wide and varied experience due to the game's nature of changing up playstyles each stage: Gameplay is split between Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, all of whom play their own types of levels. Glitches and skips are very heavily used in the second half of the run, and a healthy amount of RNG is present; enough to make the endtime uncertain, but not enough to make the estimate difficult to meet.

Gameplay Estimate: 1:20:00 (Terra) and 1:24:00 (Ventus)

Terra 1:15:13: http://www.speedrun.com/run/wzp8ovvy
Description:
A HD remake of the popular PSP title. These runs are very fast paced and we use the best commands that we can obtain in the short time we play. There are lots of nice optimisations for things such as grinding, movement and menus. Some fights have very interesting strats due to the type of decks we have to build and reliance on abilities such as Fire Boost throughout the run to get optimal damage. One of my personal favourite Kingdom Hearts game to watch since all runners have different ways of doing each run.

Game: The Adventures of Bouapha- Spooky Castle
System: PC
Category: any%
Gameplay Estimate: 40 minutes
Video:
The quintessential PC Freeware game. This game is literally perfect in every way, shape, and form. This game was forged by one man, knowing that sharing the secrets on how to make a perfect game with another soul could cause cacophony so immense that Ragnarok would seem like a picnic in comparison. Mike Hommel, the genius behind this organized chaos, created every sound effect with his own voice. To compare this game to other well known top down games like Gauntlet or Smash TV would be heresy in the highest regard, an eternal sin if you will. There is no game more deserving to be put into the marathon.

Game Name: Kingdom Hearts II
System: NTSC PS2
Category: Any%
Gameplay Estimate: 4:10:00
Ending/Bonus Estimate: N/A.
Possible Donation Incentives: Fighting Sephiroth. (Would add 10 minutes to estimate)
Sample run video: (WR video courtesy of Ninten886)

Description: Kingdom Hearts is a JRPG series focusing on a great deal of combat. KH2 offers varied and difficult strategies to deal with a plethora of mob fights and boss encounters abusing revenge values and a variety of abilities. The Any% route skips a bunch of worlds and is rather medium paced throughout, with downtime during Gummi Missions for plugging the marathon/reading donations etc. It's just a really fun and technical run including tearing apart bosses that were excrutiatingly difficult when we first played through the game in our childhodds. I hope you consider it 🙂
Availability: 8AM -> 10PM UK.

Possible Donation Incentives: Defeating Sephiroth during the run. / Singing songs during Atlantica.
Sample run video: part 1 -

Description: Same as Any% except no worlds are skipped. A more complete run that uses more interesting strategies and techniques than any%, at the cost of being a little longer. I would prefer to run this category but would obviously settle with Any% too 🙂.
