LosvikeNLosvikeN Shrek 2 any% 0:50:00 PC EUR Link Shrek 2 is a PC game released in 2004. This game is full of Out of Bounds glitches and funny comments. In this game you play as Shrek, Donkey and Puss to take down the evil Fairy God Mother. The game is based on the movie with the same name.
EidgodEidgod Grand Theft Auto 3 Any% 1:25:00 PC Link First 3D GTA Game that has recently gotten rather big route changes in the first half of the Game. GTA III now uses Replay Glitches to duplicate Missions and instantly pass those. The game is also still without interruptions in form of long cut scenes or autoscrollers. Also Dodo flying is always worth a watch.
EidgodEidgod Grand Theft Auto 3 All Missions 3:40:00 PC Link In the All Missions category everything that the game considers a mission will be completed while leaving out boring things like collecting packages doing taxi fares or similar things this category shows most of the game that is worth seeing. (my PB is really old and doesn't include any of the new strats. will get a new one soon)
EidgodEidgod Grand Theft Auto Vice City Any% 1:10:00 PC Link Vice City is the GTA game from which the Replay Glitch originated and it is also the game that had the biggest route changes because of it. The WR dropped by more than 30 minutes since the discovery of the glitch. Definitely a fun watch. (mostly submitting this in case every other person who wants to run this drops out or doesn't flat out come)
EidgodEidgod The Powerpuff Girls: Defenders of Townsville Any% 0:12:00 PC Link A short little game based on the popular TV Series Powerpuff Girls. The run is made up by a lot of minor optimizations and tight movement all around. A Save glitch is also used to skip a good chunk of the game. (not my run in the video, pb coming soon)
Tezur0Tezur0 You Are Empty any% 1:00:00 PC Link The game which is unknown to 99.9% of players, cause it is: 1) Russian 2) Bad but it is amasing speedrun, contains a lot of OOB, I've been developing strats for almost 1 year, and despite being kinda slowpaced (no running - only walking) it is very entertaining speedrun. **Note to every my submission** I agree to pay deposit, but I live in Russia, and right now economic situation is highly unstable, so I might not be able to make it to marathon, so I hope to get some understanding.
Tezur0Tezur0 Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter any% Tourist difficulty 1:00:00 PC Link Serious Sam is mostly an IL game, but full runs are still pretty entertaining. 1) Game is broken (OOB and flying glitches) 2) Game is short (estimate is high, cause we can include secret stages as donation incentive + last stage is insane pain in the ass and can go very wrong) Running this game for several months, got WR and probably gonna improve it. **Note to every my submission** I agree to pay deposit, but I live in Russia, and right now economic situation is highly unstable, so I might not be able to make it to marathon, so I hope to get some understanding.
Tezur0Tezur0 Nihilumbra any% Normal mode 0:50:00 PC Link Very Technical, fastpaced game where you progress by making over different obstacles and solving puzzles using color system. Doesn't have any major glitches, but very depends on execution, and this what makes this run look good. I was almost the only one to discover all the shortcuts, this was my first speedgame, so I put a lot of effort into it. **Note to every my submission** I agree to pay deposit, but I live in Russia, and right now economic situation is highly unstable, so I might not be able to make it to marathon, so I hope to get some understanding.
Tezur0Tezur0 GTA 2 any% full game 0:35:00 PC Link *VOD for 1st district I done every single district individually but never combined it so far. So. GTA 2 is very good game to watch, it has insane strats all over the place, very good routing, but game itself is highly unforgiving. The run I submit SHOULD be faster than current WR (how cocky), but that's because a new glitch was found in last district, though it requires some more practice to be able to perform it within 5-10 minutes. So even if game makes it into every single cut, I might still call it back in the end, but this is one of my main projects atm, so hopefully everything will be fine, and on-stream WR will be serviced. Just contact me later if what. **Note to every my submission** I agree to pay deposit, but I live in Russia, and right now economic situation is highly unstable, so I might not be able to make it to marathon, so I hope to get some understanding.
jokajoka Tiny Toon Adventures Any% 0:17:00 NES JPN Link Very fast paced (thanks to a ~glitch), very unforgiving (thanks to only 1 hp). An old childhood favorite for many people that still hasn't made it into a marathon.
Tezur0Tezur0 Shadow Warrior 2013 any% NG 1:50:00 PC Link Shadow Warrior 2013 is a dynamic katana fightfilled remaster of original SW (nothing much in common though, really, only names). Very fast-paced, has a lot of OOB, triggerskips, blood and gore. Placed VOD is pretty slow, but that was my 3rd run, so obviously till marathon I already expect to get consistant sub 1:30s. This game might be submitted by other runners, so I might join the race if they wish to do so, or give the right to play game to them. **Note to every my submission** I agree to pay deposit, but I live in Russia, and right now economic situation is highly unstable, so I might not be able to make it to marathon, so I hope to get some understanding.
jokajoka Mega Man Maverick Hunter X 100% 0:39:00 PSP USA Link Remake of Mega Man X with some improvements (no re-visits for Hadouken!). Very fast paced and cool gameplay. Lots of hadoukens. Fantastic remixes of the original awesome music.
BetaMBetaM Crash: Mind Over Mutant Co-op Any% 1:00:00 PS2 EUR Link Co-op run with PeteThePlayer. A fast paced 3D platformer with brawling elements that get mostly skipped using multiple glitches (flying, infinite jumping, OoB's) involving two players. The advantage of having two players instead of one is being able to perform tricks much easier for an entertaining display. I've been running this game for over a year and the person I'm going to play with is also familiar with running the game.
jokajoka Mega Man Powered Up Old style 0:25:00 PSP USA Link Powered Up is the remake of Mega Man 1 for the PSP. "Old style" = same stages, bosses and weapons as the original. It's basically like running glitchless in MM1, but with a "cuteness filter" :P To be fair, it has a few hard tricks (Yellow Devil) and hard bosses (Fire Man), but is mostly just a chill and fun game. It would fit well into a "remake" -block together with Maverick Hunter.
S.S. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City 100% 9:00:00 PC Link 100% Vice City, despite its length, is a very interesting category as it includes almost every objective that makes GTA GTA. Compared to any%, it contains extra missions. The collectables affect the route a lot and the fact that collectables are collected throughout the entire run makes this an interesting watch. On top of that, this category contains more military helicopter flying, more bike stunts and more bloodshed. New glitches have been found a few months ago, which made the category at least 40 minutes shorter. This run will showcase the new glitches with equal amount as any%, so by uncluding this category instead of any% not much will be missed out on. Some examples of interesting missions that are glitched in 100% are Jury Fury, Cabmaggedon, Hit The Courier, Check Out At The Check In, Taxi Driver, Paramedic and Messing With The Man.
GyooGyoo FEZ any% clockless v1.07 0:30:00 PC Link Already ran it last year, but new strats and glitches make the game now even more impressive and technical. Also, new route changes made that we managed to cut 2 minutes from the WR since last ESA.
NoizeehNoizeeh Super Mario 64 120 Star 2:00:00 N64 JPN Link Super Mario 64 is considered by many one of the best 3D-platformers of all time. It has a huge fanbase and the speedrunning communtiy within the game is large aswell. 120 Star is a very intense category. You finish the game with all the stars and you do it with very clean and intense movement and by clever use of gameplay mechanics. I've worked on 120 Star with a couple of breaks since december 2013 and I managed to push my time to 1:45:27. I'm looking to have atleast a 1:44 before ESA
GyooGyoo Phantasy Star Online Episode 1 any% glitched 1:10:00 GCN EUR Link Ran last year by Frozer, I picked this game right after last ESA. I am willing to make a race against any other runner of this game if there's any.
S.S. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City 98% 7:00:00 PC Link This is the same as 100%, but does not include 3 out of 4 longest objectives. These objectives are Taxi Driver, Paramedic and Pizza Delivery, taking 60 minutes, 27 minutes and 19 minutes respectively. The 4th long objective, rampages (taking about 23 minutes) are done over the entire run, are less grindy than the other objectives, and affect the route too much for me to easily route them out of the run.
GyooGyoo SSX On Tour Peaks Freerides 0:30:00 GCN EUR Link SSX On Tour is one of the best game in the series. In the Freerides categories, you have to go from the 2 peaks of the mountains, down to the final zone (Nintendo Village on NGC). I can either do 1 of the 2 peaks (The Peak or On The Rocks) or both. The route is completely different and you will not visit the same zones at all so doing both is worth. The run is mostly routing and good execution, but you can also exploit the reset feature to skip small things. Overall, if it is well executed, this is a great watch, also with very cool music.
PillsOfDeathPillsOfDeath Okami HD New Game+ - Any% 1:40:00 PS3 EUR Link Okami is an rpg/zelda style game. The estimate is low because the game is really broken and that's why, imo, it's really fun to watch. Recently we found some new little tricks to save time. I run this game since 2013 and i'm very consistant with it. All my runs are under 1h30. Also, WR holder :)
Mhmd_FVCMhmd_FVC Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Any% 1:05:00 PC Link It's Vice City, but not the Vice City you may be used to! The speedrun for this game has been severely broken since last ESA via "replays", which are short gameplay recordings that you can save. You can do all sorts of things with replays, like duplicating missions, which is what is used in the run to skip about 25 minutes of what used to be in the run. I'd say it's a pretty fun watch if you've never seen it before. Aside from that, you have your typical GTA action going on, and especially with how optimized the game has been getting, it'll be quite fast-paced for a GTA, even.
PillsOfDeathPillsOfDeath Okami HD New Game+ - All Brushes 3:00:00 PS3 EUR Link The difference with any% is that in this run, i have to collect all the brushes power (and their upgrades) in the game. This category is really cool because you can see more place in the game than Any% and obviously, more tricks/OOB. Very broken category too. Can still improve the time before ESA.
DwhateverDwhatever Super Mario 64 120 Star 2:00:00 N64 JPN Link I'm willing to race people or let other people run this game. I want to improve my time a lot before ESA, at the moment I can't stream much because of school, that will change in a month.
Bagel_ThiefBagel_Thief Guacamelee!: Gold Edition Co-op 100% Normal Mode 1:25:00 PC EUR Link This run will be a co-op run by myself and Lady_Smaell. This is a beautiful Metroid-Vania title that charms you (with memes and references to other great titles that enspired the devs to make it) into loving it. Over the last year discoveries of glitches and exploits in the games mechanics have brought the WR for this category down by over 40 minutes and nobody in the community speedruns this co-op which can be considerably faster.
Lady_SmaellLady_Smaell Guacamelee!: Gold Edition Co-op 100% Normal Mode. 1:25:00 PC EUR Link 100% Co-op run with Bagel_Thief. A beautiful example of a Metroid-Vania title that charms you (with memes and references to other great titles that inspired the debate to make it) into loving it. Over the last year discoveries of glitches and exploitable game mechanics have brought the WR for this game down by over 40 minutes. Unique as nobody else speedruns this Co-op, which is considerably faster.
BBFBBF I wanna be the Boshy any% 0:45:00 PC Link Boshy is a 2D platforming game with difficult bosses and a lot of references to older games (Mario, Sonic, Ryu and so on and so forth) Category definition: Defeat Solgryn on Totally-Average mode, Dark Boshy only, no Wrong Warp. My any% pb is 34:10, which is 4th place (WR is 32:24 as of now). I haven't been playing Boshy a heck of a lot recently, but am willing to practice extremely hard if the run gets accepted.
BBFBBF I wanna be the Boshy 100% 1:10:00 PC Link Category definition: Unlock everything, no custom characters. PB is 52:56, 2nd place (WR is 52:21) This run adds a bunch of extra stuff to the game, mostly Chests that you have to collect. You also visit the Pokemon, Justin.tv and World of Warcraft worlds and can fight Kappa (usually skipped, good donation incentive though) and the very difficult Cheetahmen boss.
JangBangJangBang SSX 3 All freestyle platinums 0:45:00 GCN EUR Link A short, sweet, and more fun version of the all freestyle golds run from last year. The goal is to get platinum medals in all the freestyle events where they are availible, meaning that you do not have to do any of the peak jams. Similarly to the all freestyle golds run, this run relies heavily on the use of monster tricks, keeping your combo alive, picking the right jumps, and managing your boost. This run is done from a new game file, so you do not start out with any improved stats. The run ends when you cross the finish line of the "throne jam" event, assuming that you have gotten a platinum medal in that and in all the prior events.

thiefbugthiefbug The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask Any% 1:45:00 Wii JPN Link Majora's Mask is a great example of how broken a game can be without looking as broken as Ocarina of Time. Lot's of physic abuses, Bomb glitches and are giving us the opportunity to complete the temples and the game in a way that was never intendet, but still shows lots of the game. It's an entertaining run - especially for those who have never seen such a speedrun.
JangBangJangBang Mega Man Network Transmission Any% 1:15:00 GCN EUR Link A unique Mega Man game in the sense that it takes tons of movement, stage, and enemy elements from the classic Mega Man series, and combines it with the combat system (the use of battle chips) from the Battle Network series. The game lets you "mark" a battle chip before you enter a stage, which eliminates some of the rng and ensures that you have a tool for getting through the stage quickly and efficiently. For example, a lot of the time that chip is "double jump", which lets you jump continuously in the air for as long as you have mana. This can let you skip past a lot of running and enemies if used efficiently, and is best demostrated in this webm: 18.http://puu.sh/ewU7f/c22c9170db.webm . I am up for racing this if Crippe or anyone else wants too, as I feel the need to redeem myself from the Dreamhack trainwreck.
thiefbugthiefbug The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask All Masks 3:00:00 Wii JPN Link The most technical category this game has to offer. The goal is to get all 24 masks in the game and defeat majora as Feirce Deity, which most people did not manage to obtain when they played the game casually. The first hour is pretty tight due to the ingame timer which leaves no time for mistakes. The temples are completed in the same way as they are in any%, but since all masks have to be obtained, it's an extremely entertaining run, showing off lots of glitches and tricks this game has to offer.
thiefbugthiefbug The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 100% 5:40:00 Wii USA Link 100% aims to collect all ingame items that do not disappear after playing the song of time. altho this category has been in last year by Ennopp112, VPP, Goronguy and me, I would be very glad to show off the new route Slask2Prask and me created during last years event and after. It shows off a variety of glitches that aren't in other runs, as for example the milkbar clip or certain cutscene skips, which are not in other categories.
JangBangJangBang Timesplitters: Future Perfect Story% hard 1:45:00 GCN EUR Link FPS game where your mission is to travel back in time to stop a war from happening, meaning there is lots of variation in terms of stage environments, enemies, allies, and weapons. "Hard" is the most challenging difficulty because it makes it so that the enemies have more health, fire more often, have better accuracy, and do more damage. This means that in order to kill enemies and make progress quickly I have to get headshots, or they just do not die at a good pace. Lots of small optimizations that together bring each IL down to under 10 minutes IGT makes this both a fast and a fun run.
GyooGyoo LOVE any% 0:10:00 PC Link (The video was a crappy and buggy marathon run, but this is the only one I have found here I am playing) LOVE is a minimalist platformer for PC in a very pixelated world. Despite the minimalism and the shortness, the game is quite hardcore. Few glitches help travel through spikes and save some time thanks to that.
HeinkiHeinki Deus Ex any% 1:00:00 PC Link Deus ex is a heavy glitchy game thanks to the Unreal Engine which allows alot of exploits in the game. Added to this there is alot of nostalgia to that game since it is the first game in the deus ex serie. If someone else is submitting Deus ex Im willing to do a race.
HeinkiHeinki Deus Ex Human Revolution any% 1:00:00 PC Link Do you like boxes? In this Speedgame we use alot of Boxes to clip Out of bounce and skip tons of areas. Since last year we even found more parts where we are able to skip elevators and conversations - Im willing to do a race if someone else is submitting the game
HeinkiHeinki Metal Gear Rising any% NG+ Hard 1:30:00 PC Link In New Game + we abuse a jump called "Pole arm jump" to get OOB and skip entering fights. The bosses are alot easier when you know how to do the quikkills by abusing specific patterns and using the overpowered pincer blade.
CerethCereth Final Fantasy 5 Any% 4:20:00 SNES JPN Link Leaderboard: http://finalfantasyspeedruns.wikidot.com/wiki:final-fantasy-v There is no English version of this game, only a fan translation patch, so I run JP to play on console. I should be able to explain everything well enough so that people know what I'm doing despite the language. The game has some glitches and full-game encounter manipulation which is very difficult to pull off (I don't think any English speaking player as ever done it). I intend to practice this game a lot in the coming months. If language is an issue I can look into playing on a flash cart or something but I have no idea how that works
Darkpr0Darkpr0 Sonic Triple Trouble Tails Any% 0:30:00 PC USA Link A hidden gem of 2D Sonic, this game came out on Game Gear in the very early 90s. The gameplay is somewhat like an 8-bit version of Sonic CD, and closely related to Sonic Chaos. It consists of 6 Zones, 3 acts each including bosses. The stages act as relatively simple 2D Sonic speedruns that require proper execution. Tricks like zips and screenwraps do not exist in the run, so you get to see the whole stage go by about as fast as the poor console can handle it. Because the game was not released on very many forms of media, this run is performed on an emulator which has been approved for speedrunning, and which does a very good job of matching the real thing. Including eating inputs which often results in Fun. As a donation incentive, I can also do Tails All Chaos Emeralds which would include the 5 (very difficult) special stages and 2 mini bosses which would add about 8-10 minutes to the expected time.
2083 Rayman 3 Any% 1:35:00 GCN USA Link So there is a lot to say about this game as a speedrun but i'll try to keep it short. I discovered rayman 3 runs early 2014 and it has been my main game since. when i started playing the WR was a 1:42:18 by LWR which since then has gone down by insane amounts. mainly because of the insane amounts of skips and glitches littered throughout the run. the current WR held by me is a 1:24:59. Outside the truly incredible amounts of interesting skips the game also has fun gameplay cool bosses (we don't skip all of them) and a good sense of humor. As ideas for donations incentives. there isn't that much. but we could do donation wars for language since the game has some great voice acting in 5 different languages. and i could show off some glitches that are not in the run. i'm not sure if this should be an incentive though since there isn't that much i could show off that isn't in the run already. but if there is time left after the run i could show off a trick or two for sure. For commentary, two former runners (Respirte and CriticalCyd) will also be at the event and probably able to co-commentate. Even though i can do a lot of the commentary myself it would be interesting to hear stuff about how this game evolved from people that started running this game way before i even knew about speedrunning. even though this game is fairly well known and the community has grown a lot it has never made it into a marathon. which it definitly deserves. Thanks for reading -poe
SerSanjuSerSanju BioShock Any% 1:10:00 X360 EUR Link The BioShock Series is REALLY broken, which really makes speedrunning this games interesting. BioShock is a "Survival" FPS and has a really interesting route full of glitches. Even though BioShock was at ESA 14, I have to say this is Xbox 360 version, which has one EXCLUSIVE trick, cannot be done in either PC or PS3. This trick is introduced in the run but I would be showing a funny effect for a casual playthrough.
SerSanjuSerSanju BioShock 2 Any% 1:40:00 X360 EUR Link Just as the original BioShock, its sequel it's a "Survival FPS", even though this one has a more interesting route, not as many glitches, but still some that make the run real fun to watch, and entertaining. Something I forgot to mention in my other submission, I'm submitting the Xbox 360 versions because it's how I started running the games, and I would be preparing a good commentary to explain the differences between versions, there are a lot, such as different way of doing certain skips, using certain glitches. Definitely, the BioShock games are really good for speedrunning, and I hope more people get to see it.
SmartkinSmartkin Crash Twinsanity 100% 1:50:00 PS2 EUR Link Twinsanity took rest and didn't show up last year. Not only it improved since 2013, it got to a whole new level. And since this game is very glitchy somewhere around 10 minutes of the estimate is just to show off glitches Twinsanity can offer. Not only that, run provides entertainment and the game itself is remembered by fans as last good Crash game
SerSanjuSerSanju God of War: Chains of Olympus Any% NG+ 1:05:00 PS3 EUR Link (Video commentary is in spanish, was done during a spanish marathon). The God of War PSP games (HD Remakes in this case) are, just as the original trilogy (1-2-3) and its prequel (Ascension), two really really broken games, full of glitches and funny stuff. This run uses a special costume and also uses an exploit throughout the run, which is Infinite Jumping. Really cool route and skips. I honestly think people wouldn't get bored with this.
SerSanjuSerSanju God of War: Ghost of Sparta Any NG+ 1:40:00 PS3 EUR Link Just as GoW: Chains of Olympus, this run uses the same exploit, Infinite Jumping. I'd say this one can be more interesting. Glitches sometimes have some funny effects just as in Chains of Olympus. I don't know but I'd say this run is real fun to watch just as Chains of Olympus and any other God of War game, because broken games are usually fun. Just as Chains of Olympus, this run uses a special costume, but in this game we can let people choose it (so it could be like a donation incentive), if that's not something likely to be a thing, for this run the costume used is the Deimos costume.
MisterHidden94MisterHidden94 Trials Fusion any% 0:50:00 PC Link Trials Fusion is the latest game in the Trials series, where you ride a trials bike on a 2.5D track, entirely relying on an amazing semi-realistic physics engine to get to the end, where anything can happen at any point. The physics engine and track design allows for multiple ways of completing tracks quickly and doing stunning recoveries from tricky situations. It's a challenging game, viewers who have played the game will definitely be enjoying the gameplay and commentary. The run in its entirety will be filled with commentary about the basics of the game, small tricks, optimizations used throughout the run, and some additional trivia here and there about the game. There should be no downtime on the commentary except for the few tracks needing full concentration. There is none of the 'usual' RNG, but every attempt is different and requires high knowledge of using the physics engine to go fast. My current PB 41:38 should be the average run, my goal will be to get a sub 41 and get a sub 42 consistently. There are no official leaderboards for the game, as it is mostly played for the in-game global leaderboards for ILs. The current known WR is 39:40.
MrWalrusMrWalrus Dishonored Any% 0:42:00 PC Link Dishonored is a highly optimized PC run that has not been represented at a ESA before (as far as I am aware). The high amount of speed is achieved with a short range teleport and some collision abuses we call elevators. I currently hold the World Record and plan on getting it back if anyone takes it.
SerSanjuSerSanju InFamous: Festival of Blood Any% 0:35:00 PS3 EUR Link InFamous: Festival of Blood is the only DLC in the InFamous Series, that basically has a different story but would be included into InFamous 2. It's a separate game, you don't need InFamous 2 to play this. It's an action-adventure game, in which we control a character with electric powers and said character becomes a vampire and we have to become a human again by completing our quest: Kill Bloody Mary. This game has a very fast-paced speedrun, with interesting routes and some glitches. Definitely a really good run, and entertaining.
YumaYuma Outlast AllChapter% 0:30:00 PC Link Outlast is a horror game turned action-platformer when speedrun. It's an insane run through a mental asylum with lots of impressive tricks and skips Extra time in the estimate is allocated to showing off additional glitches.
OngnissimOngnissim Spyro 2: Season of Flame Any% 0:35:00 GBA EUR Link One of four Spyro games to be released on the GBA, Season of Flame is a 2.5D platformer where the goal is to collect 75 fireflies and then defeat Ripto. There are 100 fireflies in total so the game has been routed to collect the fastest 75. There are some minor glitches used in the run and a lot of level design oversights that can be used to collect the fireflies faster. The gameplay is fast paced and some of the dodgy level design is quite amusing. I can also offer a short glitch demo which would be less than 5 minutes to show off some of the glitches that aren't used in the run. My PB is 26:15 and I almost always get runs under 30 minutes so the estimate is very safe.
IncalexIncalex Darksiders Any% 1:35:00 PC Link Darksiders is the perfect game for a Zelda block. Because everybody knows Zelda copied everything from other games, this is obviously one source (master sword for example) More seriously, totally underrated game, that does involve a really good speedrun. I think the video itself is enough to understand. Many glitches to explain too.
OngnissimOngnissim New Super Mario Bros. Wii Any% 0:35:00 Wii EUR Link New Super Mario Bros Wii is a 2D side-scrolling platformer in traditional Mario style. It was a popular game due to having the first co-op mode in a Mario platformer. In any%, I will be using the propeller hat power up for most of the game which can be used to bypass a variety of obstacles. The biggest use of the propeller is skipping an autoscroller which is an impressive trick to watch when done well. I will take secret exits to get to Bowser as quickly as possible. My current PB is a 27:06 RTA which is 25:47 in SDA timing which is the second best in the world.
OngnissimOngnissim Spyro: Attack of the Rhynocs Any% 0:27:00 GBA EUR Link The third in a series of 2.5D Spyro platformers released for the GBA. Attack of the Rhynocs (or Spyro Adventure in PAL) is a similar style to Season of Flame but has a different system for collecting items. The normal aim of the game is to collect lots of objects to fix problems caused by Ripto. However, the game can be completed just by collecting a number of power ups. This means that the game is very short to complete. Most of the game focuses on collecting gems to collect the last upgrade which lets me access Ripto's Chateau. There is one big sequence break which lets me access a level early and a boss skip as well. My PB is 22:27 but I don't have a video. I have linked my best recorded time.
360Chrism360Chrism Super Mario Sunshine Any% 1:30:00 Wii EUR Link Same as last year, just better can also do any% hoverless which is 20mins~ slower and much harder
360Chrism360Chrism Super Mario 64 1 Star 0:12:00 WiiVC USA Link SM64 0/1 Star is the any% run of the game. It shows of glitches to beat the game as fast as possible and is a pretty hype run in general. I have gotten really consistent since last year at all the tricks and are really confident to rock this run! Since it is a really short run it would probably fit in for a bonus run to a longer SM64 category.
360Chrism360Chrism Super Mario Galaxy Any% Luigi 2:55:00 Wii EUR Link SMG1 Any% is a really nice run that shows of an insane amount of shortcuts that will blow minds! One of my main games at this moment I have gotten really good and would like to show this run at ESA.
PeteThePlayerPeteThePlayer Crash: Mind Over Mutant Co-op Any% 1:00:00 PS2 EUR Link Co-op run with BetaM. Interesting platformer that yet needs to be shown off from a speedrunning perspective. Lots of cool skips, multiple ways of infinite jumping by abusing having two characters. My any% PB is not completely up to date as I only occassionally play the game but I keep in touch with BetaM a lot who always lets me know about all discoveries. With minimal practice and the use of the current route I should get sub 1 in single player almost easily. There haven't been co-op runs of this game before.
PeteThePlayerPeteThePlayer Grand Theft Auto 3 100% 7:30:00 PC Link Very cool run which showcases a variety of strategies, tricks and glitches from both, GTA3 and GTA Vice City, while many aspects of the game get trivialized. Tricky routes, and precise timing are obviously part of this as well. My time is the WR as of writing this submission comment.
360Chrism360Chrism Super Mario Galaxy 2 Any% 3:30:00 Wii EUR Link SMG2 Any% shows alot of shortcuts and abuses Yoshi for the Infinite flutter glitch alot. Did this run last years ESA in the bonus stream and chat seemed to like it.
PeteThePlayerPeteThePlayer Grand Theft Auto 3 All Missions 3:40:00 PC Link A run that showcases more strategies than any% does. A nice extension for those like GTA3 runs in general, should 100% be too long of a run. I abandoned this category a while ago but I can definitely get back to it and improve with the newest strats fairly easily. Also, I would definitely have nothing against racing this.
BaalNocturnoBaalNocturno Golden Sun 100% 5:00:00 GBA EUR Link Your typical JRPG a lot of text, which means a lot to talk, a lot of RNG manipulation and some cool tricks :) I improved a lot since last year plus the route changed making it faster :) If its still too long i can run No Intro which cuts roughly 40 mins making the Estimate 4:20
360Chrism360Chrism Super Mario Sunshine 120 Shines 3:45:00 Wii EUR Link The 100% category of Sunshine grabs all shines + blue coins and then beats Bowser for the 120th Shine. High amount of inputs and fast movement make this run a nice show. I did Any% at last years ESA. Incentive could be useless glitch show off!
PenAgainPenAgain Metal Gear Rising any% NG+ Hard 1:10:00 PC EUR Link Main glitch or exploit is the polearm jump to get OoB and sequence break in a lot of places. The quick kills for the bosses involve a lot of very precise health manipulation to skip phases of the fights. Willing to race if there are more submissions.
PenAgainPenAgain Deus Ex: Human Revolution any% Hard 1:00:00 PC EUR Link This game developed an irrational dislike of boxes in me. Lot's of clipping and boss abuse. Good race game so I'm also willing to race with anyone also submitting the game.
PenAgainPenAgain The Powerpuff Girls: Defenders of Townsville any% 0:10:00 PC EUR Link Really short run with a save glitch to skip most of what is already not a very long game. Movement optimisation is the most important thing. Also willing to race.
PenAgainPenAgain Styx: Master of Shadows any% 1:10:00 PC EUR Link Stealth game made not very stealthy. AI abuse, cool OoB and some glitches and taking advantage of the clone system to get higher and further than intended to skip areas.
KottiKotti Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun Nod campaign 0:35:00 PC Link Fast paced RTS with a glitch that allows you to build stuff in the enemy base. Submitting in case Aphox can't come, I'd rather let him do the run and help with the commentary.
NordNord Dying Light Any% 2:30:00 PC Link The newest game from Techland, the makers of Dead Island, comes a new open-world zombie fps game which puts heavy focus on day/night, parkour and combat. A run of this game is amazingly broken, starting off with out of bounds 2 minutes in, followed by duping of items to level up Survival to 25 and get access to the Grappling Hook after the first mission of the game, we also have clipping through "solid" walls, ceilings and fences. These are just some examples of how amazing a run of this game is with OOBs, duping, clipping and amazing parkouring with sonic speed. Been working on this game every day since it's release and it only took a day before serious time-savers where found. I expect to improve my WR run and hopefully find more things before the ESA event. This is one of the games which made me upgrade my HD 6970 to a GTX980 =) This game could be done as Any%, Co-op or as a Race.
NordNord Canis Canim Edit Any% 3:00:00 PC Link From the amazing developer Rockstar comes a game derived from The Warrior but with gameplay of GTA, to a certain extent. We get to follow Jimmy and all of his neverending problems of trying to stop bullies while at Bullworth Academy. A run of this is somewhat RNG based but contains tricks like Busted Warping, Floating Children and the Skateboard Bug to gain and maintain loads of speed. This is a game that I have put over 400 hours into and the WR is somewhat solid at this point, I believe it could be a solid run but with a really small chance of new things being found before ESA hits. This game could be done as Any% or All Missions.
miklmikl Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus any% 1:10:00 PS2 USA Link The video is my current personal best, but I do not think it properly reflects my skill level. To put it into perspective, I died 5 times and still PB'd by 4 seconds. Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus is the first game in the Sly franchise and the any% category is very heavily depended on a bunch of awesome tricks mixed with some precise movement. The current world record is 1:01:26. I am currently the only European speedrunner of this game, and the only one at the moment to do this category all together. The run is a good showcase of some awesome glitches and insane skips, its fairly short, fast paced and easy to understand and explain. I expect to be doing a lot of runs in the near future, so I don't expect my time to be the same when ESA kicks off.
S.S. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City 100% with Sideruns 9:00:00 PC Link This is the same submissions as my other 100% run, however one of the any% runners could do an any% run while I do taxi fares, since taxi fares take longer than any%. This keeps the run true 100% instead of some arbitrary 98% (which makes it more convenient as well since the paramedic reward is pretty useful to me). Speaking of Paramedic/Pizzaboy, someone can do all-package / all-robberies runs during those. This satisfies all people involved: The viewers, the any% runners, the 100% runners, and the arbitrary category runners. (Setup team maybe not so much, but I figure its not much different from a race setup with a scene switch when it becomes relevant). Ofc, I will be the one doing the 100% runs. The other runners will submit their own part.
Mhmd_FVCMhmd_FVC Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Any% 1:05:00 PC Link Same as my other submission but this one is tied in with S' "100% with sideruns" submission. I could do an Any% while he does taxi fares, as these take about an hour (or more if bad RNG) and are quite tedious and not very interesting to watch. An Any% run could fit in this time and once I am finished, the 100% action could continue.
PeanutPeanut Rayman Origins Any% 1:15:00 PC USA Link A very hectic run with a lot of tech and routing. The run covers 19 stages and 6 worlds in roughly 1hr20min, and almost every level is incredibly fast paced with a big emphasis on Lum collecting, which makes every level very tight and accurate in terms of routing. Almost anything can kill you in one or two hits and the challenge of the run is maintaining good movement, speed and consistency throughout the levels. Because of the big skip at the end, no world theme is repeated in the lategame, making the run short, sweet and to the point.
PeanutPeanut Crash Bandicoot: Tiki Quest Any% 1:25:00 PC USA Link A really dumb looking Crash fangame with a terrible plot involving a recolor and some masks or something, i don't know. Despite this it still has some pretty cool speedrun potential with interesting movement and varied levels (with stolen music and SFX from other games, may i add). Incentives include coming back from the dead, softlocking the game on almost every boss fight, CRASHING the game on some occasions, and activating the totally-legit and not glitchy "Hard Mode" on the final boss.
EtemEtem Fable: The Lost Chapters Any% 1:45:00 PC Link A fun little action RPG that picked up a few dedicated runners over the past year or so, not done before at a marathon. 1) Not RNG heavy 2) Little/no grinding 3) Very little that can go "dead run" wrong - Autosaves at the start of each quest ensure that you can reload without losing a bunc of progress 4) Some pretty interesting tech, and abusing the game mechanics as much as possible 5) A bunch of route changes, and new strats make this an optimized and enjoyable run to watch! As for my own progress, I did most of the strat finding, and am currently under one minute off of the WR, due to some new micro-optimizations found and a few mistakes (linked video was WR until 7th Feb 2015, when it got beaten by Giantsteps92).
PeanutPeanut Reimagine :The Game: Any% 0:15:00 PC USA Link Reimagine is an incredibly precise 2D platform run that is incredibly short but also incredibly difficult. A run needs to be absolutely perfect in order to save time. The run has minor autoscroller skips here and there, but 90% of the challenge comes from movement and optimization. The run is barely over 10 minutes long, so the cringe-worthy 2011 pop-culture reference humor doesn't overstay its welcome very much. Incentives include watching (and singing along to) the cutscenes inbetween some levels.
downiebrownie_downiebrownie_ Super Mario 3D World Any% 1:55:00 WiiU USA Link Fast paced modern speed game that is very entertaining throughout the run. It has a unique way of movement that most people wouldn't guess was possible if they have never seen the game ran before. Most levels in the game have pretty big skips and there is one interesting over world map exploit that is used once which makes the run an overall interesting marathon run.
carskacarska Overcast Any% 0:21:00 PC EUR Link This game is one of those jump scare games, but this one is especially "good" because of how bad it is. This is fast and broken game, full of stupid jump scares and game breaking glitches, eg. you can jump almost infinitely high with just taking object and jumping on top of it. In short, game is broken, it is so bad that it is good. So if you ave need for good bad games, sign this in.
carskacarska Resident Evil 2 Leon A 1:25:00 N64 USA Link This is basic RE2 Leon A run, but made on "obscure" platform. I play on 1st person controls, which makes this run bit harder but also faster. There are few differences comparing this to another consoles, like you can't skip cutscenes or doors, you have options for violence and blood colour and also that 1st person controls. But other than that, this is classic and great RE game, but played bit differently.
carskacarska Resident Evil: Dead Aim Any% 0:40:00 PS2 EUR Link This is bit obscure RE game, since it is part of "Survivor" games, which are designed for lightguns. This game is also in category "it is so good, because it is so bad". Gameplay is horrible, plot is bad and voice acting is horrible.
carskacarska Resident Evil Survivor 2 Code: Veronica Any% 0:20:00 PS2 EUR Link Arcade shooter turned into PS2 FPS game, what can go wrong? Everything. Last "Survivor" series game on RE series and it might be worst game on RE history. No one but me plays this and there are reasons for it. But again, if you need someone to play horrible games and let others enjoy from streamers suffering, this one is good for that.
HennejoeHennejoe Prince of Persia: Sands Of Time Any% 1:50:00 PC Link This is a really great run that I've been doing recently - a new trick was found at the beginning of the year that blows the game wide open and is a really entertaining trick to look at. My estimate is a little higher than my current average pace (1:35) because there are some tricks that can crash the game (I would bring a backup save folder so that I could continue relatively unchanged, would only require and exit to main menu and reload) As of writing this, I'm the current WR holder and plan to continue improving my time until I get sub 1:25 (best segments = 1:21) Me and a few other members are actively looking for new routes and methods in this game so the time might come down even more by the time ESA rolls around.
miklmikl Fallout 3 any% 0:35:00 PC Link The linked video is not my PB, but the current world record for single segment any%. I am yet to do full runs of this, but I've been practicing and expect to do this a lot in the future. Run is short and relies on glitches to keep stuff entertaining. The Fallout3 leaderboard on speedrun.com is not used and pretty outdated. I suggest following my eventual PB's from here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1W5pWk7-6JvV9Vua3G547dxDonEItD6L3K8MN7D1H5WE/edit#gid=1481745019
FingersTehHandFingersTehHand Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands any% Easy 2:05:00 PC Link Set between the events of Sands of Time and Warrior Within. Many fight scenes can be entirely skipped and a broken upgrade system can bring some otherwise long battles down to mere seconds. There's a major graphical glitch that could occur near the start of the game that lasts for the rest of the run, but the actual gameplay is unaffected by it. There are a few interesting skips too. My current PB is 2 hours 1 minute and 14 seconds, but I can definitely cut that down by several minutes before the event. As far as I know, I'm the only person who runs this game right now.
MLSTRMMLSTRM Final Fantasy XIII Any% 6:00:00 PC Link Final Fantasy XIII is the most recent entry to the main Final Fantasy series. The battle system is quite different to other games in the series, in which commands are entered much closer to real time than other earlier games in the series, and the introduction of the paradigm system, a role system for controlling the other members of the battle team. The introduction of this battle system increases the skill cap required for fights, bosses especially. Also due to the fact that enemy encounters are all spawned in-game, there are no random battles to be fought throughout the entire run, and every battle fought is planned out specifically, meaning that late game will be completed at incredibly low levels of development relative to casual play. There is also no grinding in the run for experience, and only a few extra fights are fought for shroud drops early in the run. Also compared to the other games in the series, all cutscenes are skippable, so overall the run is very action-dense, alternating between fights and navigating the world and avoiding enemy encounters. My PB is currently 5:33, and while the estimate is high (No-reset runs are sub-5:50 consistently) it allows for donation incentives such as extra fights to be shown-off after the run. CerethCereth Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles 4Player Co-op All Dungeons 3:20:00 GCN JPN Link Crystal Chronicles is a spin-off Final Fantasy game for the Gamecube, and was one of the flagship games for the GBA Link cables, allowing for up to 4-player co-op play. The run itself will consist of completing all dungeons in the game, including 2 that use a very neat momentum exploit to allow one of the players to go OoB and hit the trigger for the boss area from outside the level, shortening them considerably and removing a large amount of RNG from the run. Other notable glitches include a gil duping exploit that will allow us to buy very high-stat equipment early on in the run, making boss fights very short due to high damage. We ran any% last year for ESA and the run was well received, so we'd like to do all dungeons this year as an alternate.
geurgegeurge Crusader of Centy any% 0:50:00 Genesis JPN Link Really fun Zelda-like game. Some cool OoB's to get around levels and some precise jumps as well. Was in SGDQ and nothing in the run has changed since then but I've gotten more consistent.
exeexe God of War 1 any% NG+ 1:40:00 PS3 USA Link GoW 1 has the highest priority in the submission. It's a really cool speedrun with a lot of very entertaining glitches and a cool bonus outfit. I'm close to the WR (Akheon) and wanna try to take it back until ESA. But i'm generally really consistent in this game. God of War is a very famous series and a good spot in each schedule ;)
exeexe God of War 1 any% NG+ 1:40:00 PS3 USA Link GoW 1 has the highest priority in the submission. It's a really cool speedrun with a lot of very entertaining glitches and a cool bonus outfit. I'm close to the WR (Akheon) and wanna try to take it back until ESA. But i'm generally really consistent in this game. God of War is a very famous series and a good spot in each schedule ;)
exeexe God of War 2 any% NG+ 1:30:00 PS3 USA Link God of War 2 was shown on AGDQ2013 by theenglishman but i've updated the route by learning more tricks and one of this tricks skips the boring long infinite jump in the middle part (it's also a lot faster and saver). So this run is a lot more Marathon friendly as @ AGDQ2013. Like GoW 1 & 3 this game has many really cool glitches like swimming in the air (with jesus pose), out of bound jumps and more. I'm the WR holder in that game.
exeexe God of War 3 any% NG+ 1:40:00 PS3 EUR Link I did this run on ESA2014 and improved the route in the last months. I'm also in a very good form at the moment and got an insane record at the beginning of this year. I learned new setups for different tricks and made the run more saver. It has a really cool donation incentive: You can vote for subtitle language AND voice language. i'm the WR holder of that game.
MLSTRMMLSTRM Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles 4Player Co-op All Dungeons 3:20:00 GCN JPN Link Crystal Chronicles is a spin-off Final Fantasy game for the Gamecube, and was one of the flagship games for the GBA Link cables, allowing for up to 4-player co-op play. DrazerkDrazerk Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days Any% standard (Bid war with Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded) 4:00:00 DS EUR Link Unlike the main series games 358/2 features no auto scrolling gummi sections creating zero down time, nearly no RNG thanks to RNG manipulation and requires the runner to take risks constantly meaning the entire run is done on 1 health making it one of the hardest games in the series to execute correctly. I want to have this compete in a bid war with Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded.
DrazerkDrazerk Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded any% no major glitches (Bid war with Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days) 3:30:00 DS EUR Link Re:coded is a treat to watch featuring unique game play in every world from FF style combat in Olympus to tight movement / platforming sections. This run wouldn't make use of the stat matrix game over glitch allowing for better combat and more exciting bosses. I want to have this compete in a bid war with Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days.
OninOnin Transistor Any% 0:45:00 PC EUR Link The Transistor run changed pretty significantly since AGDQ, with the help of Sockfolder's famed game breaking skills. Many different ways to skip fights, cool quick-kills, and of course amazing aesthetic and music. There's still a lot of downtime in cutscenes though. I'd offer the Low% category too but I think it's a bit complicated considering the game hasn't been showcased often.
OninOnin Elliot Quest Any% 1:50:00 PC EUR Link Elliot Quest is an homage to Zelda 2, along with references to plenty other retro games. The speedrun is surprisingly difficult due to how underleveled and underfarmed I am, and on occasion suffers terribly from RNG, hence the generous estimate. But the game has charm, and is a prime example of how to do retro right.
OninOnin Alien Swarm Any% 0:30:00 PC EUR Link The RTA run of Alien Swarm is a little silly with basically RNG-based OOB strats, but it's still a good run. Generous estimate given for the possibility of death/softlocking, optimally it should only take 20 to 25m. Possible donation incentive to showcase a Brutal Solo IL or two, just to show off how difficult those can be.
CerethCereth Final Fantasy X Any% 10:45:00 PS2 USA Link Just pretend that 10 hours is actually 10 minutes
MLSTRMMLSTRM The Wonderful 101 NG Normal 5:15:00 WiiU EUR Link Platinum's first foray into the Wii U takes the form of The Wonderful 101, an action-packed game in which you control a group of up to 100 Wonderful-ones, who combine into various different "Unite morphs" which are used as weapons against an invading alien army of epic scale. Gameplay is very fast paced, and fights are varied, with bosses of enormous scale and over-the-top sequences all in the style of saturday-morning Superhero cartoons. While there are no real sequence breaks, there is a way in which enemies can be dealt incredibly high amounts of damage once unite bomb is obtained, which trivialises a few types of enemies, and even makes one of the phases of the final boss incredibly fast. I currently hold the WR at 4:59:55 and I am currently derusting and revising the route, so this could come down a fair amount before the event.
DeathtomeDeathtome Chaos Legion Any% (Hard Difficulty) 1:45:00 PS2 JPN Link I ran this game last year at ESA. I improved the WR by almost 3 minutes since then. I know it's possible to get below 1:35 so I will focus on shaving off my time more and more until it's time for ESA. I was very nervous last year and lost a few minutes due to mistakes, so I want to get revenge and perform at max this time around and maybe get a WR live at the marathon! I am the WR holder for the game.
KejsKejs The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess any% 3:35:00 GCN EUR Link The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess gained tons of popularity over the past months. Because of it's decent difficulty and it's gamebreaks, the speedrun itself is really interesting to watch. Tricks like Early Mastersword or City in the Sky early sped up the game quite a bit and yet, the any% category displays the game pretty well. As a donation incentive idea, we could do a Master Sword RTA in the "2 guys one controller style". This could be really interesting since tricks like BiT, Boxbreaker, Sword and Shield Skip and EMS are strongly muscle memory dependent.
Blackwin5Blackwin5 Klonoa: Door to Phantomile Any% 1:05:00 PS USA Link Klonoa: Door to Phantomile is a side-scrolling platform game viewed from a "2.5D" perspective. The speedrun is mostly about abusing all game mechanics in an optimal way to get through the levels as fast as possible. Mostly utilizing damageboosting and creative usage of the enemies.
NordNord Dog's Life Any% 0:25:00 PS2 EUR Link Who does not love cute animals? In this fantastic game you get to play as the dog named Jake who needs to save Daisy from the dogcatchers! A run of this game is amazingly broken with clipping, skipping and other shortcuts to make the game really short. The world record is less than 15 minutes! Can be done as Any% or a Race versus Zoton2!
MLSTRMMLSTRM Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 100% 2:40:00 GCN USA Link Ty is a collect-a-thon platformer for the GCN/XBox/PS2 era, and the 100% category is defined as getting 100% in-game, which means in each of the 9 levels, collecting 300 opals, 5 bilbies, 10 golden cogs and 8 thunder eggs. The run has lots of movement optimisation and tech, and while there are a couple of autoscrollers/minigames, the longest being 2 minutes, and the rest are much shorter. I ran any% last year at ESA, but admittedly it didn't go so well, but since then I helped create the route for this run, and my PB/WR at 2:22 is pretty well optimised, with a fully optimised run being around 2:20. Estimate allows for the rainbow scales (optional collectable) to be obtained, which would add around 5-10 minutes to the run.
RespirteRespirte Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Any% 1:00:00 PC EUR Link A Puzzle platformer nostalgia trip that sees magical wizard boy Harry Potter casting spells, abusing hogwarts physics, jumping over bridges, even getting into high speed collisions with pixies. This game is not glitch heavy by any means, but it if filled with lots of interesting and unique skips, with elements of Harry Parkour throughout. I currently hold the WR in this game with a time of 51:01 and can offer insightful commentary into the ways of the wizarding world. A potential donation incentive can go towards seeing one of the levels that never made it into the final game, called 'Gryffindor Challenge'.
miklmikl Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets any% 1:00:00 PC Link Meet Harry Potter, the biggest parkour wizard Hogwarts has to offer. The game showcases some clever exploits and a few glitches, along with some pretty insane abuses of the Unreal Engines physics. Respirte has also submitted this, and I am only submitting for the potential of a race. If anyone is to do a solo run of this, it should definitely be him.
Mhmd_FVCMhmd_FVC Age of Empires II William Wallace Campaign 0:30:00 PC Link This game almost needs no introduction. It's the RTS game famous for its online multiplayer, and I've managed to route the first single-player campaign of it! It's not the most exciting campaign out there, seeing as it's the tutorial campaign, but that leads to it being very short. Despite being a tutorial, there are several interesting tricks in the run such as spawn-blocking. One of the later scenarios is actually quite difficult to get consistently and is quite micromanagement-heavy, but there are backup strats, of course. I won't hesitate to say that it would be nice to watch the tutorial campaign with a touch of speed. (My PB as of submission is one second slower than the WR, RTA. If you factored out loading times, it would be WR.) Donation incentive could be playing around with some of the interesting cheats after the run is over, as some cheats have kinda funny results.
Menno888Menno888 Grand Theft Auto 3 All Missions 3:40:00 PC Link Just like all other PB's for this category, the route has to be improved a bit. There was talk about a race with PeteThePlayer, Eidgod and me, which I think would be more enjoyable than one runner playing. I am really not sure if I'm going to be able to get to ESA again this year, so if it turns out not to be a race, I'll probably won't be running it sadly.
EagleEagle Metroid: Zero Mission Any% 0:50:00 GBA EUR Link Metroid games are great speedgames, and Zero Mission is no exception. Zero Mission has a lot of tight movement and cool speed tricks. I'm submitting this as a 3-way race between myself, Dragonfangs and Mobiusman. The three of us are well versed in this category and chances are that it will be a really close race. Any% is a bit more volatile than 100%, so anything can happen. A short, but very intense race. I currently hold the world record for this category, and I'm still hoping to improve.
MBisonFutéMBisonFuté Pokémon Fire Red Elite 4 Round 2 4:45:00 GBA EUR Link FRR2 is one of the most interesting and entertaining Pokémon runs in which you have to catch 60 Pokémons and beat a harder Elite 4 on the second time. My actual best time is a 3:45 which is 2 minutes slower than the actual best time on console after starting doing runs of it in November of last year. Maybe a possible race with MEvRNG which would involve both of us using a different route to show (Zapdos or Mewtwo).
MBisonFutéMBisonFuté Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team Any% 3:50:00 DS EUR Link These games are based in dungeons, where a floor map is randomly generated. Even if this game is RNG heavy, this game has patterns for how the floors are created so you can guess where's the exit (with some luck). I've been focusing on Fire Red way more since it's my actual main game.
EagleEagle Metroid: Zero Mission 100% 1:20:00 GBA EUR Link Metroid games are great speedgames, and Zero Mission is no exception. Zero Mission has a lot of tight movement and cool speed tricks. I'm submitting this as a 3-way race between myself, Dragonfangs and Mobiusman. The three of us are well versed in this category and chances are that it will be a really close race. While 100% was showcased in a race at ESA last year, the race would use a slightly different newer route that purely aims for RTA. There has also been a couple of new strats added to the run since then. The 100% category showcases the full extent of Samus' abillities, and visits a lot of rooms that requires specialized strats you wouldn't see in an any% run. Though the run is longer than any%, it is still a fairly short game overall. My PB for 100% is currently about 2 minutes away from the world record, but I am improving fast, having shaved off about 2 minutes in the last month.
DragonfangsDragonfangs Metroid: Zero Mission any% 0:50:00 GBA EUR Link Metroid games are great speedgames, and Zero Mission is no exception. Zero Mission has a lot of tight movement and cool speed tricks. I'm submitting this as a 3-way race between myself, Eagle and Mobiusman. The three of us are well versed in this category and chances are that it will be a really close race. Any% is a bit more volatile than 100%, so anything can happen. A short, but very intense race. I usually run on emulator for easier streaming but I'm just as capable on console. Because of emulator my RTA time isn't exactly comparable but my IGT (though recently found to be abusable, nothing that I actually did in my pb) is less than half a minute behind WR.
DragonfangsDragonfangs Metroid: Zero Mission 100% 1:20:00 GBA EUR Link Metroid games are great speedgames, and Zero Mission is no exception. Because of emulator my RTA time isn't exactly comparable and IGT is much more complicated in 100% because of various route possibilites, but the race at last year's ESA was very close between myself and Mobiusman so I'm pretty confident in my abilities.
mobiusmanmobiusman Metroid: Zero Mission 100% 1:20:00 GBA EUR Link Dragonfangs and I raced this last year, and this time a new challenger has appeared: a three-man race featuring the pride of Denmark, Eagle. The route is a little different (ie, more optimised) than last year, but for the most part this is the same run, full of awesome shinesparks, fluid room strats, and the best damn 2D metroid gameplay ever made. Last year's race was extremely close, and this one will be evenly matched too. My PB is the second best run, or the fastest if you go by RTA, whatever.
mobiusmanmobiusman Metroid: Zero Mission Any% 0:50:00 GBA EUR Link Tired of 100%? Well, this category exists too! Again a three-man race between myself and the Scandinavian Sensations Dragonfangs and Eagle, any% is of course a tighter run with a bigger focus on polished movement than punishing tricks like 100%. Despite this it is potentially a higher-variance run due to a bit of luck and one or two particularly hardcore strats. My current PB is a round minute behind Eagle's WR, but I will be grinding between now and then to guarantee consistency.
roryextraliferoryextralife Final Fantasy Origins 1 Any% 3:30:00 PS USA Link This is a pretty interesting run for a Final Fantasy game. As the original Final Fantasy game, it is a very nostalgic game, with many elements and assets that are used quite often throughout the series as a whole, making it not only a throwback but also a way to see how the series has evolved over the years. The speedrun itself is very interesting. It doesn't utilise any glitches/skips, however this doesn't detract from the entertainment that is this run! This run is something that I would happily race with WHiPCPL, or as a relay, as Final Fantasy Origins 2 RTA is something that he is working on, a run that has yet to be completed by anyone, ever.
roryextraliferoryextralife Final Fantasy XIII-2 Any% 3:45:00 PC Link Final Fantasy XIII-2 is a fun speedrun. It contains a number of neat elements, such as the use of captured monsters, and using and abusing various party paradigms in order to exploit various different bosses into submission, along with a captured monster that not many people know exists (who I lovingly call Barry in every run, since it only costs a few seconds to do so, very much worth it) The gameplay is also very fluid. Unlike many Final Fantasy games, almost every cutscene is skippable, meaning that the run consists entirely of doing things, meaning that there's always something interesting going on!
roryextraliferoryextralife Final Fantasy 1 Anniversary Edition Any% 2:00:00 PSP Link The video attached is not my current PB, however I did not record my current PB (which is in the region of 1:45) This run is very similar to the run that I have already submitted this year, Final Fantasy Origins 1, however this is of a further re-release on the PSP. This run is very similar in some aspects (the ship game is still in there, and I'm actually really good at it now rather than last year) yet it contains something that drastically changes the run in it's entirety (including the order you fight bosses in) thanks to the power of a Wrong Equipment glitch that allows completely different equipment to come out of other equipment. Similar to Origins, it has a number of assets throughout the game that appear in many other Final Fantasy games, from the Four Fiends of Chaos, to the power that lies in the Crystals.
roryextraliferoryextralife Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Any% Beginner 3:20:00 PS3 JPN Link This is a run that I find to be very fun for me, personally. This is one of the first games that I decided to speedrun, and it would only be fitting if I were to be able to run it at a marathon. It comprises of elements of various Disney films, from Alice in Wonderland, to Peter Pan, and even the wonderful world of the inside of a massive whale (Monstro, of the Pinocchio stories) including a handful of new locations. Very simple, and very interesting to watch run.
roryextraliferoryextralife Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix Lv1 Data Org RTA% 1:00:00 PS2 JPN Link (the run in the video is very improvable, and something I aim to do in the coming months) Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix was one of the best things to happen to a video game, ever, in my personal opinion. Adding multiple new abilities, weapons, game modes, and even bosses to an already jam-packed video game, this remix of a classic added a series of bosses that can only be described as insane. And then someone did a speedrun of all 13 of them at the lowest level possible, level 1. This is a run that exploits every mechanic of the game that the speedrun uses, including a few more that are only reserved for specific speedruns of the game. Using mechanics such as Revenge Values, and the manipulation of them using a large variety of Drive Forms and the abilities of your friends! It also utilises a host of various Keyblades, all providing different mechanics to the XIII fights. This run was extremely popular at AGDQ this year, something I probably can't top, but it's one of my personal favourite runs to do, and I would just kick myself if I didn't submit this.
Blackwin5Blackwin5 Digimon World Any% 1:35:00 PS USA Link Digimon World was every child´s nightmare: Due to the mechanics involved in evolving your Digimon, many people who played this game failed to ever finish it. In addition that, the PAL-version of the game had a bug so that, even if you ended up getting a good Digimon, you were unable to access a huge part of the game. With that being said, the Digimon World speedrun in its current form is a proper redemption for all the sad childhood memories of getting bad Digimon or getting screwed over by bugs and glitches. Over the past year, Digimon World has become even more marathon-friendly: A RNG-Manipulation was found which severely improved the run and lets me finish it consistently under 1 hour and 35 minutes.
MrKingFunkMrKingFunk Contra: Hard Corps Any% (Route TBD) 0:20:00 Genesis USA Link One of the lesser known Contra games. This underrated Sega Genesis title has excellent visuals and music. As a speedrun game, it is pretty straightforward but has a good amount of interesting little quirks. The main trick revolves around abusing Fang's charge shot glitch to destroy all enemies, most notably bosses in obscenely low amounts of time. I have yet to see this game represented at a big marathon and I do think it believe it deserves some spotlight. NOTE: The video that is linked here is one of 5 routes that can be chosen to complete the game. This particular route has auto-scrollers on the last 2 levels which is why I will be considering a different and more interesting route to make it as entertaining as possible for the spectators.
HeinkiHeinki Metal Slug 3 any% co-op 0:50:00 PC Link An Arcade classicer form old days! Action packed autoscroller with specific patterns and death abuse to kill bosses really quick.
geurgegeurge Burnout 2 Championship 1:15:00 GCN EUR Link comfy run that uses the point system to skip races and save time. looks cool going quick and dodging cars.
Matse007Matse007 Monaco: What's Yours Is Mine Enhanced Any% 0:25:00 PC Link Monaco is a steath game where the players cooperate to perform a heist (simliar to Payday with a top down view). The speedrun itself is skillbased due to the fact, that almost everthing is managleable RNG. Enhanced Any % means, that you beat the game on Enhanced Edition all blue levels including the épilogue. My PB in Monaco is 21:45 which is also the current WR for this category but im trying to improve the time at the moment.

Last time I didn't sub 1:35, I had one child. Now I have four. And yet my hunger for Duelists of the Roses goes on... Not sure what happened to the game title in the last submission - please delete. This is the serious one.

PeteThePlayerPeteThePlayer Crash of the Titans Co-op Any% 1:50:00 PS2 EUR Link Co-Op run with BetaM The prequel to Crash Mind Over Mutant. A run with fast paced platforming and tricky jumps and precise timing. The gameplay is quite different from Mind Over Mutant, it's not nearly as free-roaming but rather just a straight path. There has not been a co-op run yet, but I hold the WR, done on the easiest difficulty. Recently we found out that a higher difficulty setting increases the game's speed, so essentially we will start playing the game in the hardest difficulty mode, so times are slightly outdated. If we come to the point where only one of MoM or Titans can be in the marathon, MoM has a higher priority.
BetaMBetaM Crash of the Titans Co-op Any% 1:50:00 PS2 EUR Link Co-op run with PeteThePlayer. An infamous entry in the Crash Bandicoot series, focusing less on platforming and more on combat. The speedrun brings the platforming back with jumping glitches that abuse the 2 player mechanic. With actual 2 players, the combat sections are much more entertaining and go by faster. My PB isn't the best, but I broke this game and can provide good commentary while being the supporting player. If it comes down to this game or Mind Over Mutant, pick Mind Over Mutant over this game.
2083 Rayman 3 All teensies 2:00:00 GCN USA Link The same deal as with Any%, but more difficult tricks. lots of wierd stuff and easier to lose time. still catagory to show of the game fine but not as good as any% in my opinion.
SlaskPraskSlaskPrask The Legend of Zelda; Ocarina of Time All Dungeons: 2 Players 1 Controller 2:10:00 N64 JPN Link This run would be played by Me and Thiefbug and is our first choise of category for 2 players 1 Controller. We did a Ganonless run at last yeasrs ESA which was quite a fun run for people to watch, even though it was not planned from the start, All dungeons shows of all dungeons in Ocarina of time in a relatively fast pace. Would be appriciated to be late during esa due to practice.
SlaskPraskSlaskPrask The Legend of Zelda; Ocarina of Time Medalions, Stones Trials: 2 Players 1 Controller 2:50:00 WiiVC JPN Link Mine and Thiefbugs Second choise of category. Basically the same as All dungeons but it also shows of ganons castle and skips less of the game.

thiefbugthiefbug The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time [2 Player 1 Controller] All Dungeons 2:10:00 N64 JPN Link it was lots of fun in general last year to do Ganonless with 2 player on 1 controller - so we decided to bring it back this year with something more fun and more difficult. 2 Player on 1 Controller basically means what it says. Both players have a predefined region and buttons they're allowed to use. Submitting this with "SlaskPrask"

Flippy_oFlippy_o Mario Kart 64 (skips) 0:35:00 N64 USA Link A very interesting speedrun of the classic karting game, Mario Kart 64. The skips category means "anything goes", allowing a lot of unintended shortcuts, including jumping over walls, jumping on the AI and other shenanigans. This is a very fast-paced driving game, with nearly no downtime besides transitions between levels, and will generally blow everyone's mind considering many of the skips are not something the average person has witnessed. My current pb is 28:32, which I hope to make a sub 28 before ESA. The current WR is 28:21, so my pb is very close. Estimate is 35 minutes, considering that you can get some bad RNG, and small mistakes can happen, but I highly doubt my time would be worse than a low 31:xx unless I make major mistakes.
TideRugliaTideRuglia Wild arms 3 Any% 10:00:00 PS2 USA Link Other than Wild ARMS 1, its probably the Wild ARMS most other people are familiar with. For a game that is so long, the route is surprisingly consistent, with only 1 or 2 points which are random. The game features on-the-spot continues so its very marathon friendly. The actual run itself is glitchless and shows off how much you can push the system to its limit (and in particular, all the broken options the game hands you) to finish it as fast as possible. For this reason, the final battle is worthy of a watch for certain because it showcases just what you can do with the in-battle switching. Donation incentives include naming the 4 playable characters on a rolling basis (suggested once per chapter). Spells can also be named on a rolling basis and there's some other minor incentives as well (choosing who gets the final attack at the end, singing 'Wings', other bonus content, etc.) Note that the Youtube link is missing a video due to exporting problems. Please refer to below for the links to the full run: Chapter 1 - http://www.twitch.tv/tideruglia/c/4453023 Chapter 2 - http://www.twitch.tv/tideruglia/c/4453031 Chapter 3 - http://www.twitch.tv/tideruglia/c/4453052 Chapter 4 - http://www.twitch.tv/tideruglia/c/4453071
TideRugliaTideRuglia Wild arms 4 Any% 5:30:00 PS2 USA Link This is a very fast paced, offensive oriented game with some platforming elements. Large damage numbers flying around and the speedrun makes use of everyone's skillsets and some off handed spells to complete it as quickly as possible. Has its fair share of technical bits that make everything work together. I've ran this once for C4L2014 as well as have completed a segmented run for it (see Video Link). There are a few new skips to boot since the last time it was in. Main donation incentives are naming certain spells which can be changed on a rolling basis. Bonus content includes some post game battles. Note that the Video Link is for a segmented run - please refer to below for the links to a RTA of the game: Part 1 - http://www.twitch.tv/tideruglia/c/4302824 Part 2 - http://www.twitch.tv/tideruglia/c/4302817
TideRugliaTideRuglia Final Fantasy Tactics Any% 4:30:00 PS USA Link Any% means utilizing Math Skill, the most powerful command available in FFT. The game has its own following has performed well in smaller marathons. The Any% route is very safe despite the fact that its a weaker category compared to 'No Math', it still has its fair share of interesting strategy work (especially in the first chapter). The main donation incentives would be to name Ramza and set his birthday within a range (Must be Capricorn Compat with majority of the bosses). Smaller incentives include killing/saving Boco/Mustadio. The game is to be played on a PS2 with Fast Disc Speed. Note that due to exporting problems, please refer to the links below for the full completed run: Part 1 - http://www.twitch.tv/tideruglia/c/6013890 Part 2 - http://www.twitch.tv/tideruglia/c/5958836 Part 3 - http://www.twitch.tv/tideruglia/c/5958844
TideRugliaTideRuglia Wild ARMS: Alter Code F Any% 8:30:00 PS2 USA Link This is remake of Wild ARMS 1, so it has some nostalgia value but better graphics makes it easier on the eyes. The interesting part of this game comes from the fact that battles are not always fixed so there is some level of adaptation in every fight. Later on, surviving battles to unload your big damage becomes quite technical so it is still fairly interesting even if your source of damage becomes degenerate. Main donation incentives include naming the 3 main characters (Rudy/Jack/Cecilia) which becomes rolling after about 4 hours. Like the other two Wild ARMS games I submitted, major spells can also be renamed I don't have a full run available yet but I do have videos of good portions of the game: Part 1 - http://www.twitch.tv/tideruglia/c/5160818 Part 2 - http://www.twitch.tv/tideruglia/c/4930219
CriticalCydCriticalCyd Sonic Colours All Chaos Emeralds 2:15:00 Wii EUR Link Sonic Colours is one of the modern-era Sonic games featuring the boost system. Unlike the other modern Sonic games featuring this system, Sonic Colours is rather limited in the amount of boost you can acquire per level, making boost management one of the primary skills in speedrunning the game. All Chaos Emeralds is a pseudo-100% category that unlocks everything in the game, but still skips the completely optional score attacking for S-ranks in favour of speed. It features some interesting routes through the stages in order to collect all of the red-ring collectibles required to unlock the Game Land stages, which in turn show a rather unique and technical playstyle in comparison to the rest of the game thanks to their level design and the addition of a 2nd Sonic you can switch to at any time. I currently hold the record for this category for this category and I'll be improving it even further in the coming months. Donation incentive: bid war for Sonic’s colour during the Game Land stages.
CriticalCydCriticalCyd Sonic Colours Egg Shuttle 1:05:00 Wii EUR Link TimpZ ran this category last ESA and as such I feel All Chaos Emeralds would be a better showing as the run is vastly different, however if you would prefer a shorter run Egg Shuttle is still a very solid option. The video attached is a recent marathon run I did for this category showcasing what the run can look like in a marathon setting as well as my commentary style for all of my speedgames. The Egg Shuttle category is a challenge mode in the game that goes through all of the main story stages and bosses, while cutting out all the cutscenes and menuing. It also has all of the Wisp powerups unlocked from the start allowing me to do all the fastest routes through the levels and to top it off boost carries over between stages for some Egg Shuttle exclusive strats. This is the most optimized category for the game and I currently hold 2nd place for it by just under 45 seconds. Donation incentive: Game Land stage showcase featuring 1 out of 3 stages per zone.
CriticalCydCriticalCyd Sonic Heroes Team Sonic 1:20:00 GCN USA Link Sonic Heroes offers a rather unique playstyle among Sonic games thanks to the Team system allowing you to switch between the 3 formations on the fly, each with their own strengths, weaknesses and vastly different playstyles. No formation goes underused in speedruns and the game also offers a wide variety of tricks and glitches. Team Sonic features Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. Both their mechanics and stage design are built around high speed action. Each team also has their own unique mechanics and stage design making this a vastly different run from the Team Rose run at AGDQ 2015. This has been my main speedgame for the past year and a half and I currently hold the record for this category. I've been working on implementing the newest big glitch into the run to improve it even further. Donation incentive: Last Story.
CriticalCydCriticalCyd Dustforce DX Any% All Levels 0:55:00 PC Link Dustforce is a precision platformer about janitors with hardcore parkour abilities cleaning dust in the most dangerous of places. It features a lot of speed-tech with a main focus on gaining and maintaining momentum while navigating areas filled with death traps as well as 4 different characters with their own strengths and weaknesses. Loading times are almost instantaneous making for non-stop action. The game has also gotten a big update since the last big marathon showing, which has added 16 new levels as well as a completely new overworld. Any% All Levels is a New Game+ category that skips the vast majority of dust in order to get to the end of the stage as fast as possible in which character choice plays a significant role. It also offers some skips involving clipping out of bounds, climbing on top of the level and abusing This is by far the most difficult game I run and although my time is reasonably solid, I intend to improve it even more if this game is accepted.
NaegleriaNaegleria F-Zero GX All TA Staff Ghosts (Max Speed) 1:20:00 Wii USA Link Literally the best speedgame ever made. This category shows off all the different vehicles and strats used for the Max Speed Ladder. I'm hoping to race this against E-Dragon.
NaegleriaNaegleria F-Zero GX Story Mode (Very Hard) 0:30:00 Wii USA Link Story Mode features 9 special missions each with it's own gimmick. Super fast, super awesome. I'm hoping to race this with E-Dragon.
NaegleriaNaegleria F-Zero GX All Cups 1:10:00 Wii USA Link All Cups is somewhat similar to All TA Staff Ghosts, but each cup (consisting of 5 tracks) must be completed using the same vehicle. This category is shorter since it has one less track, and one less menu per track. I'm hoping to race this with E-Dragon.
NaegleriaNaegleria Sonic Advance Amy% 0:25:00 GBA USA Link Amy is unique in Sonic Advance. Though lacking spindash, Amy has a hammer which can be used to hit springs and get double the distance, as well as various other minor tricks that make routes for Amy very different from the other characters.
NaegleriaNaegleria Killer7 any% 3:10:00 Wii USA Link Killer7 is a third person mind fuck from Suda51, one of the Capcom Five and arguably the strangest game ever made. Normal mode any% is safely 3h 10m and a potential donation incentive for Killer8 mode (basically VERY VERY HARD mode, which is what the video shows) would add 30 minutes. This game is famous for having insane gameplay and some insane cutscenes, showing the best cutscenes would add 10 minutes. Since I last performed this run in 2013, AdrianVG1 has found further optimizations making the category both safer and faster (his most recent Killer8 run having a time of 3:21).
NaegleriaNaegleria Barney's Hide and Seek Game any% 0:05:00 Genesis USA Link A Sega Genesis exclusive, I have achieved a level of skill at this game which let's me match the inputs of the TAS frame for frame.
NaegleriaNaegleria Shadow of the Colossus Time Attack any% 1:15:00 PS3 USA Link This category features 16 boss battles back to back, all of which have shortcuts and cool tricks that make this game surprisingly cool to speedrun. Since the runs I performed at GDQs, I have learned how to manipulate every single troublesome Colossi to my favor (most notably #7 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfB3oCSj7Ow), and the IL community has discovered some more time savers.
GoranGoran Final Fantasy VII any% Slots 8:15:00 PS2 USA Link Leaderboards:http://finalfantasyspeedruns.wikidot.com/wiki:final-fantasy-vii Very skilled speedgame. The game involves many glitches and step counter that manipulates encounters in the game and the most important thing is that I will be using Slots limit break ''Game Over'' that can 1-shot pretty much every boss/enemy.I run this game for over a year and this is one of the most popular FF out there.
T1g3r_94T1g3r_94 SpeedRunners Any% 0:11:00 PC Link SpeedRunners Origins is the Story mode in the game SpeedRunners. The speedrun is very fast paced and is technically demanding, with precise jumps to finish the levels faster. It contain no glitches or exploits. It's an exciting run due to its fast pace and flowing gameplay.
FrozerFrozer Advance Wars: Dual Strike any% 2:00:00 DS Link Advance Wars: Dual Strike is the third installment of the Advance Wars series. It is also one of the most broken ones in terms of game mechanics, simply because this game introduced a lot of new things, such as Tag Power and a couple of new units and characters (CO's). Every CO has his unique ability and I will show amost of them during the run. This run uses slight RNG-manipulation. Almost all of the strats are consistent and marathon safe. Unfortunately, I haven't run this game in a marathon before but I can provide the times of no reset runs as well if necessairy.

UsikuUsiku The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap Any% 2:25:00 GBA JPN Link A 2D Zelda with cool glitches to show, such as an Ocarina glitch that allows you to walk over walls and completely skip parts of the game.
UsikuUsiku Spyro: A Hero's Tail Any% 1:00:00 PS2 EUR Link I just started running this, so I'm still trying to take down my time. The current world record is 39:xx for comparison. This game abuses a lot of glitches like swim in air, clipping and infinite jumps.
UsikuUsiku Star Fox Adventures Any% 5:30:00 GCN JPN Link I have the second best time for this game and previously held the world record. Completely different from every Star Fox, this plays more like a Zelda title. There are OoBs with swim in airs that are done to skip decent chunks and a new restricted items glitch that isn't done in my PB that saves an additional 6 minutes.
LosvikeNLosvikeN LEGO Harry Potter Year 1 1:00:00 PC Link LEGO Harry Potter is a puzzle platformer. The run is based on optimizing movement with a few skips. In this game you play as 3 characters, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger to solve puzzles and to defeat Voldemort.
Niss3Niss3 Uninvited, race vs Crippe Beat the game 0:13:00 NES USA Link Classical shaped ghosts, patrolling spiders, murderous dogs and flying tomato monsters are some of the horrors you have to bypass in this thrilling, haunted house. From the same company that brought you Shadowgate, this game contains the same fast paced, high skill menu action. And adds new tech, quick selection, with the Select-button.
S.S. Dear Esther Beat the game 0:25:00 PC Link Probably the physically most painful game I have run and will ever run. This game is 20 minutes of mashing two alternated keys as fast as I can. There's also 4 deathwarps, of which the second one is the most difficult. There's a chance I will fail that a couple of times meaning this run is not a guaranteed sub 20. (The rest of the run is either consistent, or doesn't save as much time, but nevertheless this is painful and if I mash slower, I will go slower.) Slamming an additional 4 minutes on top of the estimated time for the outro cutscene/loadings/menuing. I think it would be great to completely destroy one or both of my hands at a marathon and the suffering will make for an interesting watch.
GoldGold Gunstar Heroes Expert Mode 1:00:00 Genesis EUR Link Very fun and hard game. Super fast and has really cool boss strats. Was well received last year and this time im on console \o/ Expert PB is 45:06 (Video is my Normal Mode World Record cause i cant find my PB video for Expert)

NepfNepf Final Fantasy IX Any% 9:35:00 PS2 USA Link Final Fantasy 9 is different from most other entries in the series in that there are basically no major glitches or overpowered abilities, which makes the speedrun a relatively straight playthrough focused on optimally utilizing all the tools available to you with the limited exp gained without grinding. Due to this, fights are often exciting and unpredictable. We are submitting this game to be played cooperatively between myself and MrZwanzig (player control will switch for each of the 4 discs). As two of the most knowledgeable runners, there’s a lot we can explain about the various routing choices and fights. In addition, several other FF community members are planning to come to the event, so we should be able to put together a great couch. If it’s easier to fit into the schedule, the run could be split into two parts (disc 1+2 and 3+4), similarly to what was done at AGDQ 2013. AkistoAkisto Pokemon Yellow Randomizer Any% Glitchless 3:00:00 GBC USA Link 2-4 Way race depending on who is coming to ESA. This kind of run requires a lot of indepth knowledge about Pokemon Generation 1 despite what people might think. Will be a lot of commentary like it is in the video. Being ran on SGB2 with a Everdrive GB. Instant Text is a pretty new feature added that saves almost 20 minutes. Yellow is being chosen due to the difficulty compared to Red/Blue and that you in 99% of the cases have to catch a pokemon early so the race won't be linear with everyone running the same Pokemon.
RoboSparkleRoboSparkle Batman: Arkham Asylum any% 2:10:00 X360 EUR Link Batman goes into an insane Asylum and using nothing but his wits, his extensive ninja training, billions of dollars, years of built-up orphan angst and literally infinite batarangs, saves the day by punching dudes and parkour-ing the architecture. (Also parkour-ing dudes and punching architecture, he's complicated like that). Very much up for a race if any of the other Arkham runners are willing. This one hasn't been in a main marathon since the first ESA; since then we've optimised the hell out of it. Couple that with an intricate knowledge of the game and the Batman-verse, and good commentary is guaranteed (also puns). Last week a new console-only glitch was discovered which lets Batman zip around like the Flash and may or may not lead to skips and a reduced estimate.
MLSTRMMLSTRM Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Any% 2:50:00 GCN JPN Link Crystal Chronicles is a spin-off Final Fantasy game for the Gamecube, and was one of the flagship games for the GBA Link cables, allowing for up to 4-player co-op play. The run itself will consist of getting to the lynari desert area as early as possible to obtain the holy element, and then proceeding to complete the game. Notable glitches include a gil duping exploit that will allow us to buy very high-stat equipment early on in the run, making boss fights very short due to high damage. We ran any% last year for ESA and we're offering it again as we will be able to pull off a better run.

Matse007Matse007 The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Any % 1:15:00 PC Link Like every Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a really broken game which is also very enjoyable to watch (and i think nobody was running it before on ESA). Because a lot can happen i set the estimated time to 1:15h because i dont know how good the PC´s are so i dont know how much time the PC needs for loading etc. and also Skyrim can be really trolly with random crashes (what rarely happens)
FuzzynessFuzzyness Super Smash Bros Melee Adventure Mode Very Hard 0:12:00 GCN USA Link Very popular speedrun where I abuse the AI in adventure mode and use a ton of cool strats such as damage boosting. There is a lot of RNG in this run but it can be managed, and still get under 12 minutes reliably in marathons as proven in the past. This run took me 11,338 attempts to get the world record.

ThePaprikaKillerThePaprikaKiller E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy NG+ beat the game 0:25:00 PC Link E.Y.E is a cyberpunk game featuring crazy superpowers and high tech weapons. The power of the NG+ allows you to break levels in really fun ways.
lurklurk Zombies Ate My Neighbors any% 0:45:00 SNES USA Link This is a popular game but a risky speedrun. The route involves killing all of the neighbors in the first and second level so only one neighbor spawns on subsequent levels. You only have to save one neighbors, but if that neighbor dies it's game over. The game also has a lot of completely random drops, but the route is designed so that you can finish with the static drops throughout the game.
lurklurk Batman: The Video Game batgun 0:15:00 GBC USA Link It's Batman with a fucking gun.
DhrGRDhrGR Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team Any% 3:50:00 DS EUR Link These games are based in dungeons, where a floor map is randomly generated. Even if this game is RNG heavy, this game has patterns for how the floors are created so you can guess where's the exit is (with some luck). Due to the RNG, this could be an interesting game in a race format with MBisonFuté. Considering it is possible to have such bad luck completing a run fast could be impossible (its pretty rare such a thing happens) and take 4~ hours, it makes having more runners at least more likely that one will finish reasonable fast
tdawg91tdawg91 Silent Hill 3 Any% 1:10:00 PC EUR Link Silent Hill 3 is another really popular iteration of the Silent Hill Franchise. I'm submitting this game as a follow up to my well received run last year of Silent Hill 2. It's the shortest of any Silent Hill game to speedrun and it's very interesting to watch as it has a few zips and it also features neat boss strategies. One reason my Silent Hill 2 run last year was so successful was because my commentary was really thorough, so I can very much deliver on this front.
RebelDragon95RebelDragon95 Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX Beginner Any% 3:20:00 PS3 EUR Link Good game to watch, some fun strats. One of the faster full game runs.
KevinherofreeKevinherofree Muppet RacaMania All Muppets 0:32:00 PS USA Link Muppet RaceMania is a very underrated game in my opinion. The game has a descent amount or RNG, has very good music and shows a variety of genres featuring racing , platforming and maybe even action ( as far as hitting enemies with your weapons count ). The category that im submitting is not the main category ... however it makes for the best speedrun experience. Basicly Zoot is the fastest guy and ill try to get him as early as possible. After that ill be entering the other overworlds as him and destroying the other muppets and aquire them. I am currently the world record holder for this category and im pretty sure i can bring it down a little further. In case you see the video of my WR run I am very sorry about my reaction in the end. I would have never thought i would get it with one of my splits beeing basicly terrible I also highly agree on the 5$ deposit and wouldnt mind a 10$ deposit.
GrokkenGrokken The Talos Principle Transcendence 0:50:00 PC Link The Talos Principle is a new 3D puzzle game made by Croteam. It features a variety of different puzzle mechanics, which you use to beat puzzles and collect "sigils". The sigils are used to unlock more content, and finally used to ascend the tower that reaches the sky. The run uses decorative props in combination with a glitch called item jump to get on top of walls and out of bounds, which lets us solve most of the puzzles in a way that was not intended by the developers. We use this and a lot of other tricks to skip 18 of the 90 sigils that you would normally require to beat the game. The run is very fast paced, and has no downtime at all. It is also fairly "marathon-safe", most mistakes only cost a few seconds, and there is virtually no risk of getting stuck in a situation where you cannot finish the run. I currently hold the world record for this category. Here is a link to the leaderboards: http://www.speedrun.com/talos_principle#Transcendence_Ending
GrigGrig Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy Orbless 1:40:00 PS2 EUR Link After finishing up with the Crash Bandicoot franchise, a series so sucessful that the character is considered a mascot for the Playstation and for Sony itself, Naughty Dog moved onto the Playstation 2 with their new icon, Jak & Daxter. Jak & Daxter: the Precursor Legacy is a platforming collectathon, with 101 powercells, 2000 precursor orbs, and 112 scout flies to collect, however; taking the collect out of collectathon, an Orbless run must complete the game with 0 precursor orbs collected, giving this challenging category a Low% feel. The category is marathon safe as bringing up the pause menue and making "safety saves", allows me to immediately revert back to a previous checkpoint if I do collect an Orb, as they cannot be disposed of once collected. I am very passionate about this category and can consistently hit times underneath 1h and 35m in resetless runs.
OldSchool_RichardOldSchool_Richard Ninja Gaiden 1-3 Any% 0:45:00 NES USA Link WR of this category. Individual times per game in this run: NG1 = 12:28 NG2 = 11:00 NG3 = 13:02
EdenalEdenal Heroes of Might and Magic 2 Good campaign RTA 2:00:00 PC Link Turn-based strategy game. While some argue that the third installment is more popular, it's also more complex. This game series sure tickles the nostalgia nerve for a lot of gamers out there. I've started routing the game and are confident that the final time will be well below two hours. Since it's an RTA-run the strategy can't involve getting unbalanced level 5 magic. This installment does not have quick-fights like the third which makes every decision even more important. There's so much to explain during the course of the run. Knowledge is power, and there's a lot of knowledge to be had in this game. This game might be an oddball, but I believe it's a welcome one.
6262 Deadly Premonition Director's Cut any% 4:00:00 PS3 EUR Link The game you like is going to come back in style. I think i'm the only active runner for this game. So it is my duty to show swerys master piece played in the fastest way.
BBFBBF I wanna kill the Kamilia 2 Reach Boss Rush 1:10:00 PC Link I wanna kill the Kamilia 2 (Short: K2) is a fangame of I wanna be the Guy (later referred to as just "fangame(s)", just like I wanna be the Boshy is. It's a 'medley' game, meaning it takes screens from other fangames, which makes the game pretty diverse and not as stale as a normal fangame would be. The thing is: This game is very hard (if you think Boshy is hard, this will completely blow your mind) and not very marathon safe due to huge amounts of RNG in bosses. If you would rather see a full game run, I would have to start practicing and learning a lot of stuff to get a decent amount of consistency on the later bosses. I thought it might be a good idea to 'just' play to Boss Rush (6 Stages + 5 Bosses), as the game starts getting pretty insane and RNG heavy at that point. A good run of this category is about 50 minutes, but there is quite a lot of stuff that can go wrong and waste a lot of time, sub 1 hour would still be a good marathon run. My PB is 1:03, but I don't have a video for it. I expect to get close to a 50 minute PB until ESA starts. If I happen to come in below estimate I could play the Boss Rush for whatever amount of time I have left, and showcase why a full game run could end up as a problem in a marathon.
puppetmasterpuppetmaster Wario Land 2 Main Story 0:40:00 GBC EUR Link (Game Boy Colour game, played on a GameCube with Game Boy Player) Wario Land II is a very interesting because of how the game is structured. It's chapter-based and has different stories/endings depending on how you end each chapter. In any% you go to a secret chapter in the very first level and you're only required to beat 6 levels to complete the game. Main Story aims to beat the game by sticking to the main chapters of the game (as the name implies), of which there are 25. I feel like this is more suited for a marathon as you get to see more of the game. Any% takes about 8 minutes of which more than 3 minutes are spent watching an intro cutscene. The game itself is straightforward, in general it's about optimising your movement as you go through every level - usually done by using Wario's shoulder charge or sliding across the floor. There's a lot of minor tricks that are used throughout the run such as jumping on enemies to reach areas you aren't meant to reach, squeezing through tight spaces or even rolling uphill. And like most Wario Land games there's also a more gamebreaking glitch; wall-jumping. Wall-jumping lets you go out of bounds which enables you to enter another room in the same level or even complete the level by entering a "goal door" that's stored outside the level's actual data. There's 9 wall-jumps throughout the run, all pixel and frame perfect. Some of them are pretty mind-blowing and really spice up the run. There's also a glitch that lets you play the game with nothing but enemies visible. I could do an any% run like that as a donation incentive.
TrineasTrineas Muramasa: The Demon Blade Momohime - Shigurui - any% 1:50:00 Wii EUR Link *unsheathes speedrun* This underrated and beautiful action game has been overlooked for quite some time. Even though it has a TAS, a segmented run and even was at SGDQ 2012, nobody outside of japan has been actively doing RTAs of this game. While the run has no glitches discovered so far, it's still a very exciting run that's all about execution and RNG manipulation to some degree. With hilarious bossfight strategies and amazing visuals and music, this run is just really fun to watch and do. The run is done on Shigurui mode, which is this games hardest difficulty and means playing through the game with only 1 HP (like the "Hell and Hell" difficulty in the Devil May Cry series), adding another layer of strategy and challenge to the run. And it sounds badass.
DarkDEVASTAT10NDarkDEVASTAT10N Halo 3 Legendary 1:50:00 X360 EUR Link Halo 3 has a bunch of sweet skips, some nice movement tricks, AI manipulation, and of course I'll be running it on the hardest difficulty. I currently hold the WR.
willzorsswillzorss Halo 2 Easy 1:30:00 X360 EUR Link Easy is not as well known as Legendary but since you're not really in threat of dying to the enemies, it instead has lots of optimized and impressive movement, skips and tricks that still make it a very enjoyable watch. I currently don't hold the world record, my personal best is 8 seconds off. The video I linked is my PB in full but I linked a part of the run where you can get a quick glimpse of the kind of movement I was talking about, since you probably don't want to watch the entire thing. (if the link for some reason doesn't take you to the correct time, it's at the 1:04:50 mark)
RazorPriestRazorPriest Lost Planet 2 Solo Any% 3:00:00 X360 EUR Link It's LP2, the sequel nobody liked! Less snow, lots of sand, silly emotes, explosions everywhere and more autoscrollers and rng shenanigans than you can fit in the second boss' mouth! This is *technically* an NG+ run, but we count it as the primary any% category for now since nobody wants to run clean slate%. Don't worry about it. I only recently finally routed the full campaign, so the strats may still very well change a bit from what is used in the current record. Either way, you'll get to see a lot of cool environments, gigantic bosses and maybe just one too many autoscrolly sections for comfort. But it's a speedgame that nobody has ever seen run before, so that's cool, right? Lots of stuff to comment on and explain during the run as well, should be decently entertaining throughout. Oh, and the character editor allows for some rather... "entertaining" creations. Jiggle physics rock! 3 hours is a comfortable estimate, as the record is quite a bit faster.
AMVXAMVX Splinter Cell: Blacklist All Co-Op Missions - Perfectionist Difficulty% 0:50:00 PC Link Run with Steve50013 AKA Slashtangent. The run is quite hilariously fun, Steve and I have heaps of laughs doing this. The run is well optimised, with each mission taking about ten minutes. This is run on the hardest difficulty, meaning small room for errors. It's a matter of co-ordination between the runners, and knowing the route of the AI and the team mate in order to complete the objectives quickly. Splinter Cell is a pretty popular series, but hasn't had a co-op run like this done before. There are many little bugs to make it stupidly awesome (e.g. swan diving @ 23:40), and the game can be made sub-40. Sum of best is ~36 minutes and even that can be lower. I've given safe time in case we do happen to make some mistakes (e.g. stupid landmines) and possible glitches that can happen.
WilkoWilko Super Mario Sunshine 120 Shines (100%) 3:40:00 Wii EUR Link Super Mario Sunshine became a very popular game in recent days. The heavy movement-based game is exciting to watch and it's easy to keep track of what is going on even if you haven't played the game before. I stream daily and all of my runs are commentated, so i will be used to explaining and analysing strategies while playing at the same time. Since Sunshine is the only game i'm speedrunning at the moment and 120 Shines is my main category, i'm looking to improve my time further in the next couple of months. My current Personal Best is linked in the video. With kind regards, Wilko
SeductiveSpatulaSeductiveSpatula Antichamber Any% 0:04:00 PC Link Neat, suitably confusing, little run with a pretty unique aesthetic. Run will be lagless meaning you don't use alt+tab to intentionally lag the game.
SpiriaxSpiriax Battle Kid 2: Mountain of Torment any% 1:20:00 NES USA Link A very stable game with pretty much no glitches that requires mostly execution and memorization only. The game is pretty unforgiving due to the one-hit kills and the respawning at the last save point. Expect more risky strats than ever that will be sure to make the viewers clinched in suspense. The prequel, Battle Kid: Fortress of Peril, has been on ESA three times in a row now, with a race last years ESA, and there was even a race on last AGDQ. I doubt you would have both of them, so I didn't even bother submitting it. The timing couldn't be better for Battle Kid 2; it hasn't been on any major marathon yet! As for the progress goes for this game I plan to pick it up very soon anyway, and keep trying to squeeze the game down to sub hour.
SeductiveSpatulaSeductiveSpatula Two Worlds Any% 0:04:00 PC Link Two Worlds is an open world rpg which, due to a hilarious oversight in the release version of the game, can be completed in just over 2 minutes. By aggroing a quest giver (who also happens to be the final boss) and tricking him into attacking another NPC, an entire village will gang up on him, kill him, and thus triggering the game's ending.

KottiKotti Prince of Persia Warrior Within Any% 1:15:00 PC Link This got really broken recently thanks to a zips being found, turning this from a 3 hour run into a 1 hour run. DragonfangsDragonfangs Ultra Street Fighter 4 Tournament finals 1:30:00 X360 EUR Link Fighting games are always fun, and SF4 is the one anyone can join. One of the most popular games in the scene and had a decent player showing last year at ESA. Time estimate of 90m is a really bad and unlikely worst case streaming the Top 4 finals, a more likely time is ~1h but could also run in half of that. Player styles/skill creates a big amount of variance. I also have no idea how to solve scheduling since we have no idea who'll be in the finals until after the initial tournament is finished.
DragonfangsDragonfangs Guilty Gear Xrd Tournament finals 1:30:00 PS3 EUR Link Fighting games are always fun, and Blazblue had a strong presence at ESA last year. Xrd has been picking up a lot of steam in the scene is likely to draw that same crowd this year. This might also end up being Under Night in Birth or Blazblue, not completely sure :P. andypantherandypanther Star Wars Episode I: Racer any% 0:50:00 N64 USA Link It's that Sci-Fi racer that is notorious for its difficulty! The gameplay is very fast and skill based: The levels are long, your vehicle easily blows up and the AI rubber-bands so much that there isn't much room for mistakes. The any% abuses the upgrade system and only buys a part for more top-speed. Getting the needed upgrade fast is pure RNG. I could either wait until I get the best possible upgrade, or accept the second best one too, making the remaining levels slightly slower. But it would still be spectacular for a casual viewer, especially because slower speed makes the run harder. If you want, I could also show off some shortcuts and glitches. I added some minutes to the estimate for that.
andypantherandypanther Beetle Adventure Racing! Bonus Circuit 0:40:00 N64 USA Link A somewhat obscure racing game for N64. It has only a few levels, but those are very large and full of different routes, because the game has a focus on exploration. Among runners and their viewers, Beetle is known for its physics: They can be extremely random and lead to hilarious situations (like the Beetle randomly doing a huge jump). The main speed trick is the use of "reset warps": Because the developers expected players to easily get lost, you can reset yourself back to the main track. This can be used to reset yourself to later parts of the track because of the placement of the checkpoints. I can also show off the physics some more by playing around with a specific cheat activated, which makes the handbrakes much stronger and allows you to easily fly around after even the smallest jumps. Without that, you can cut at least 5 minutes from the estimate.
RoboSparkleRoboSparkle Wizkid any% Hard 0:50:00 Amiga EUR Link One of the weirdest and most wonderful games made for the Amiga. This was a true indie game, made by 6 guys in an office in Essex and features a disembodied head smashing bricks into his foes in order to collect coloured musical notes. Occasionally I'll summon my body in order to solve puzzles which will enable me to rescue 8 adorable kittens and their mother and complete the exciting, nail-biting Wizeroids finale and reveal the game's biggest secret! The run is quite safe; although some of the levels are tricky there are plenty of back-up strats if I miss the fastest clear (you see a couple of backups in the video). The run in the video starts at 3:10 but I think the intro is worth a watch too :)

In the fastest way to get forward is using NSJ (Neutral Slide Jump). I've been running this game from time to time. carskacarska Resident Evil: Revelations 2 All Episodes / Invisible Enemies 2:00:00 PS4 USA Link Even tho game is not fully released yet (episodic) I wanna submit this game. All episodes won't be out when this submission ends so I'll have to submit this game now. Game will consist 4 episodes and 8 chapters, in which 2 episodes have been released to this date. Estimated time for all episodes will be around 2 hours (tops). I will either play All Episodes on Survival (hardest difficulty) or All Episodes with Inivisible Enemies. This game is latest addition on 3rd person RE series and has been my favourite since RE4. Fun to watch and fun to play.
AjarmarAjarmar Mega Man 10 Any% 0:40:00 WiiU EUR Link This game doesn't have sliding or zipping, but the combination of excellent level design and fast weapon switching makes every level flow very well. This game is perfect. It's PERFECT (Note: This is actually a Wii game, but I play it on a Wii U myself. However, I still play it in SD and on a CRT. Best regards)

A run contains maintaining stamina since it is a big part of doing the game quickly, there are also Dynamite Boosts which allows you to skip 90% of the level and what I call Zipping which makes me go from a lower place with water and up to a higher one just next to it basically zipping upwards.

ArzgaArzga Ravensword: Shadowlands any% 1:05:00 PC Link Originally released for iOS and Android devices, Ravensword: Shadowlands is a truly disappointing gaming experience and should not be played by anyone. It was meant to be Skyrim for portable devices, but it couldn't be much further. In the year 2013 it got greenlit and released on Steam, which could be considered an interesting choice. That doesn't make the run less interesting though. The run features lots of interesting and fun glitches and skips, such as infinite wall-jumping, flying inside dungeons, and of course out of bounds traveling. The estimate is very safe, because of fast saving/loading. The game features some RNG, but luckily it has only minimal impact on the run. The commentary in the PB/WR video is in Finnish, but I am willing to do an english-commentated run if seen necessary.
DemonDemon The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker Any% 4:20:00 GCN JPN Link The Wind Waker has been and still is a really technical speedrun which is really enjoyable to watch and run. Mhmd_FVCMhmd_FVC Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories Any% 4:45:00 PS2 EUR Link This is not a commonly seen speedrun. It has only been showcased at one marathon, and I think the game deserves more attention. I have only completed one run so far (with 12 minute time loss because of obligations IRL) so by the time ESA comes around, I should have a decent time. Though it is quite long, it's pretty interesting and would go well with Vice City, since that game has been submitted as well. It has its fair share of autoscroller missions, but it's great overall.
E_DragonE_Dragon F-zero GX story mode (very hard) 0:30:00 GCN EUR Link F-zero GX is a fast paced racing game with tons of difficult tricks and strats to get an optimal time. However this game has never been run on an ESA so far, so I hope I can change this for now. To compare I recommend taking a look at the IL maxspeed ladderboards at F-zero central as well: http://fzerocentral.org/f0/viewladder_10.php?ckey=course&ladder=5&start=0 story mode features 9 chapters that are well known for being extremely hard on very hard difficulty. However I will be able to complete them by using everything the game can offer. I will race this with Naegleria.
E_DragonE_Dragon F-zero GX All TA Staff Ghosts (Max Speed) 1:20:00 GCN EUR Link Goal of this category is to beat all staff ghosts on every single track. This category shows off various vehicles and strats to complete each track as fast as possible. I will race this with Naegleria.
E_DragonE_Dragon F-zero GX All Cups 1:10:00 GCN EUR Link Goal of this category is to complete all 5 cups as fast as possible. This category is quite similar to all staffs, but since you can only use the same vehicle for all 5 tracks in one cup you have use different strats sometimes. I will race this with Naegleria.

GrukkGrukk Castle of Illusion HD any% race 0:40:00 PC Link A reimagination of Castle of Illusion for Genesis by Sega Studios Australia (RIP) with music by Grant Kirkhope. Got small timesavers all over the place and a huge skip in the first stage. Not to forget the notorious Nudua Jump in the second to last stage. #BlameNudua Big part of the community will be at ESA: http://www.speedrun.com/castle_of_illusion_hd#Any%25 Race as big as needed! FingersTehHandFingersTehHand Castle of Illusion HD any% race 0:40:00 PC Link A fantastic, underrated remake of the classic Sega Genesis/Mega Drive game of the same name, with music by the wonderful Grant Kirkhope. There's a HUGE skip in the first level and the rest of the game is littered with smaller skips, tricks and glitches, all which make this an entertaining run. We race this game every Sunday at 10pm GMT and the races have been getting pretty close lately. We're hoping to have a big race at ESA 2015 (About 8 runners, possibly more).
btrimbtrim Castle of Illusion HD any% 0:40:00 PC Link The game with the most delicious level design around. Active community interested in racing at ESA. Among the potential participants: KrazyRasmus, Edenal, Grukk, FingersTehHand, Pogington, Tenebrae, MaxieTheHatter. Willing to step aside and do commentary if we can't find anyone to do it.
YvathacalYvathacal Gargoyle's Quest: Ghosts 'n Goblins any% 0:40:00 GBC EUR Link A game about a gargoyle doing a quest. There aren't many skips but its all about going fast, not dying and killing the bosses in seconds.
ThreeLetterMaxThreeLetterMax Castle of Illusion HD any% 0:40:00 PC USA Link A modern day remake of Sega's Megadrive classic, with re-imagined levels, current-gen graphics, and new music by former Rare composer Grant Kirkhope. An accessible speedgame, but one with an incredible showcase of strats, exploits and glitches discovered by the community, allowing Mickey to cut corners, clip through obstacles, and climb out of bounds on his quest to save Minnie. Potential racers include KrazyRasmus, FingersTehHand, Alowishus, Tenebrae, Grukk, JohnUK89, Edenal & MaxieTheHatter
MaxieTheHatterMaxieTheHatter Castle of Illusion HD Any% 0:40:00 PC Link Quirky remake of Castle of Illusion (released for Sega Genesis and Sega Master System). general_beatrixgeneral_beatrix Bayonetta 2 Any% ∞Climax 2:45:00 WiiU JPN Link New Game run of Bayonetta 2 on Wii-U on the hardest difficulty A few skips here and there and a lot of abusing new mechanics that were introduced in Bayo 2. Highest difficulty also means you die pretty easily from most enemies and bosses if you're bad. i have the record at 2:23 with only a few runs done so this estimate will probably go down prior to esa when i start grinding practice Potential donation incentive or I can just do it regardless is a kill of the games "Superboss", Rodin, playing as Rosa. Adds another 3 minutes or something, video of that boss here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWgQuoN3CMM
FuzzynessFuzzyness Super Smash Bros Melee Adventure Mode Very Hard 0:13:00 GCN USA Link The adventure mode speedrun consists of a lot of AI Manipulation and Movement Abuse (such as Damage Boosts). It uses falco for the speedrun and only unlocks Jigglypuff for the pokemon stadium fight (I will provide the NTSC copy and memory card) It's very entertaining for people who have never seen the run before since there's a lot of "wow I never knew you could do that" moments and funny things happen all over. The speedrun is very technical but also has huge RNG factors (such as wrong AI types, Items Spawning) but this also causes it to be interesting since every speedrun is very different. This is the game that I primarly focus on keeping my world record and i'm very competitive about it
tyriounettyriounet Renegade Ops any% NG+ co-op 1:30:00 PC Link Renegade Ops is a top-down view vehicular shooter. It is playable in coop with up to 4 people. It is fast paced, pretty spectacular and not very long. We're submitting a 2p coop (with Lysteria) New Game+ run. NG+ simply for maxed characters to go a bit faster, while coop allows for some cool strategies and tricks, and there will be a lot of communication, because adaptation and improvisation on the fly will be necessary depending on how unlucky we get with drops, or if one of us gets rekt or something. We will of course be providing commentary as well. As far as we know, no one else ever ran this game so it should be a pretty unique addition to a marathon. Estimate is on the high side because the game is sometimes prone to crashes and we'd have to restart a mission if that happens. We're otherwise pretty consistent with a 1:20:xx RTA for the full game.
tyriounettyriounet Command and Conquer: Generals China Campaign 1:10:00 PC Link C&C: Generals is arguably one of the best in the Command and Conquer series, known for it's great multiplayer. I'm submitting a speedrun of the Chinese campaign from the base game. It's actually very cool and anyone who has played a RTS game should recognize some pretty crazy and interesting tactics in some of the missions. There are 7 missions, and all of them have strategies to go fast. My goal would be a sub 1 hour for ESA.
KynosKynos Final Fantasy VII any% 3:15:00 PC Link I have run the PC version of FF7 during last year's ESA. However, since then, a lot of things have changed. Unlike the 2014 run, which was more or less a New Game+ run, this run is a true any% run. Nonetheless, this is still a very glitched run. Through the use of Yuffie Warping (YW), Battle Mode Warping (BMW) and Extended Battle Mode Warping (EBMW), it is now possible to skip large parts of the game and eventually access FF7's debug room(!), where one chooses settings in broken Japanese, encounters weird debug enemies and eventually fights the final bosses while hilariously wrong cutscenes play in the background. Yet, this run is not broken into complete annihilation. One actually makes use of some interesting newly developed boss battle strategies fairly early on, and naming the characters is a surefire donation incentive. I recently improved the WR for this category to just below 2:50h. When it comes to additional donation incentives, I could show off the debug room or beat the optional superbosses, which would add between 5 to 30 minutes to the estimate.
KynosKynos Final Fantasy VIII 100% 12:30:00 PC Link FF8 has not been in a speedrunning marathon in years. So, why not rectify that with a blast? 100% in FF8 means: Beat all bosses; finish all sidequests; get all items, GFs, cards, ultimate weapons, limit breaks and GF abilities. Essentially, it is do and get anything the game has to offer. It might be hard to believe this but the run is fairly well optimized actually quite fast-paced (no, seriously, I mean it). There are no lengthy grinding sections, and people seem generally genuinely astonished by how little time it takes to fulfil all of the 100% requirements. I have been running this category for the last couple of months and recently improved the record to 11:45h. For comparison, the current record for any% in FF8 (PC) is 7:35h. I understand that the sheer amount of time this run would claim makes it unlikely that it will make the cut, however, I mean this submission very seriously and would have no problem running this at ESA 2015. Additionally, when it comes to donation incentives, this run has plenty. There are 21 names to be chosen (18 GFs, 2 characters, the final boss), there is a song in the run that the audience and/or I could sing and there is a rarely seen ability that I could show off.
KVDKVD GTA V Classic% (no taxis, no mission skips) 8:00:00 PC Link The biggest GTA game to date, overflowing with cinematic set-pieces. High traffic density makes for constant edge-of-the-seat driving. With co-op relay, 2 (or 3) runners can share the spotlight. 3 alternate endings make for a great donation incentive (see video for comparison). Yoga mission is another cool incentive; following the yoga movements (with the entire audience)? Trevor cos-play = gold. My co-op partner for this would be Meridianprime. Our current PB is 8h06m (linked video is WR of 7h26m). The PC release in April is expected to provide a much more optimized speedrunning platform, so we expect to hit low into 7h by the time of ESA.
KVDKVD GTA V Any% No Mission Skips 7:00:00 PC Link This is the same submission as GTA V Classic%, except taxi travel would be allowed, cutting roughly 1 hour of run time. As there is plenty of traveling from A to B in GTA games, the use of taxis could add a welcome dynamic. Note also that taxis can only be used between missions and not during missions. There is no video for this category yet, the speedrun.com chart is still empty, but this will change soon!
NikneimNikneim Darksiders II Any% 1:20:00 PC Link Darksiders II, a sequel to the 2010 game Darksiders. It takes place around the same time as the first game, but features Death, the Reaper of Souls and one of the Four Horsemen, as the main character. The run is very different compared to the first game, because the tricks aren't as brutal and execution heavy. The main trick in the run is Infinite Jumping, and it's used throughout the run to go OoB, to make boss battles faster and to skip filler fluff puzzles. Other glitches include Cutscene Walking and the Unstoppable Glitch which is one of the glitches that actually was patched around the time of release. The video included is Aphox's World Record. You may notice why my estimate is so much higher than his PB. Well, first of all: Aphox is a wizard. Or his game runs at a higher speed. You be the judge. Also the time 57:28 has load times removed. But there are some tricks, that if failed can make you lose minutes. Also, there are spots where the game has a tendency to crash. So the estimate is the worst case scenario. I'm in the middle of catching up to Aphox's WR. I took a break at New Year, and during that a lot of new strats were found and made, but I'm making good progress. I think it's a great run, and for it to make it's marathon debut at ESA2015 would be awesome.
NikneimNikneim Two Worlds Any% 0:05:00 PC Link Two Worlds, the game that was supposed to kill TES: Oblivion, done in a couple minutes. The run reaches it's peak, when you reach the first village. The main quest giver is the game's final boss, and by fooling him to attack a villager, the rest of the village joins the victim to kill the main quest giver and the game ends. Can be a race, and if possible, should be a race.
JustShanzJustShanz Tomb Raider 2013 Any% 1:35:00 PC Link Well recieved run from the last ESA. Mostly the same route but with some new tricks and improvements (More OOB shenanigans). I won't forget to unmute the game audio this time. Hype
ethoetho Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked and Loaded NG+ no IMG 0:45:00 PS3 EUR Link Ratchet & Clank 2 NG+ is a run that offers a bit of everything. Sequence Breaks (who needs clank anyway?), Out of Bounds (infinite jumping!), Overpowered Weapons (it is NG+ after all) and much, much more. The game never really slows down as one flies across levels and traverses skyscrapers with only a wrench and poorly tested features. The NG+ category utilizes some interesting features that are only available after beating the game like First-Person Mode. The video isn't mine as I can't record HD. My personal best as of this submission is 36:46 but I'm still improving and plan to beat the WR before ESA. Just gotta find a way to record it aswell. Also, no IMG means no "Insomniac Museum" which is a feature unlocked at 100% completion that allows you to warp to a very late stage of the game from the very start and cuts out most of the interesting parts of the run.
Shigan_Shigan_ The Binding of Isaac : Rebirth 7 Characters Speedrun 3:15:00 PC Link This is my second submission for this game, 7 Characters is a really hype category, you must clear the game with all 7 characters from the original game This estimate allows me 3 death (which is possible without reset) My PB is 2h04 at this time, this is an improvable time because my PB suck ...
DtchowDtchow Final Fantasy VIII RTA ( Password reset for Caraway mansion) 8:00:00 PC USA Link This run is kind of bad to use as reference as the Zell Card and final Disc was really messy but in general a decent run, ( Note this is PC version.) Can also do Ps2 if need be, http://finalfantasyspeedruns.wikidot.com/ leaderboards for the game, Currentely farming runs for this particular game to cut down the time, A 7:40 would not be that far fetched to acheive, While the game is pretty much text mashing through out most of the game it can still be a pretty decent watch, Zell Card route could make the run look more intreseting as alot of the strategies used is not very common within the community itself right now as its only really the Japanese that have completed Ps2 runs besides 1 NA runner on PC. Other than that i dont really have much to say and i can run either versions PC or Ps2 and either Routes, :D

btrimbtrim Shadow Blasters Any% Normal 0:14:00 Genesis USA Link If you want a game that screams "Mega Drive" and "Genesis" look no further than this. Shadow Blasters is an action-platformer with a good soundtrack and an epic 20 second final boss battle IN SPAAAACE. This game is all execution except for boss battles which can have some mean RNG but it might be manipulable
RespirteRespirte Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Better Any% 1:05:00 PC EUR Link Okay. So I have a couple of things I need to explain about this run. Although this category is faster than any%, it cannot be classed as the any% category for this game because we never access the credits in this run. Better any% gets to the same finishing point that regular any% gets to but without the completion of the final ticklist that allows you to progress to the credits. (For any% in this game, you have to practically 100% the game minus all cards and collecting challenge shields in the exam challenges.) I do not have a highlight of my PB, however if this game gets accepted, I will be getting into this category a lot more. I shall link a PB of someone elses run in the community to get an idea of what the run will look like.
VPPVPP The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask All Masks 3:00:00 WiiVC JPN Link All Masks category for Majora's Mask is a middle ground between the Any% and 100% categories. While completing all the dungeons and getting all the masks, you get to see the dungeons done fast as possible and see a bit more of the game compared just to an Any% run. With not having the many restricting aspects of the 100% route, this category displays very interesting ways of completing the sidequests to get the masks. The run's pinnacle is getting the Fierce Diety's mask and annihilating Majora with it.
VPPVPP Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater European Extreme Single Segment 1:40:00 PS3 EUR Link MGS3 is a very action packed run, since you can skip almost every cutscene and codec call. With the European Extreme difficulty it displays really cool ways you can complete the areas fast. In casual play, the highest difficulty gave alot of people grey hairs. But knowing how the guard's AI works and being able to manipulate it in different ways, you can break alot of the areas and go fast. The run has no glitches nor sequence breaks, with one expection to make your footsteps silent temporally. The estimate is the IGT estimate, which MGS runs use to time the runs. IGT in MGS3 counts the credits aswell in it, so if you guys dont want that the run can be about 10min shorter. After the credits there is a score screen showing your play time and rank. I'm still in process on learning this game and haven't been managed to get a run without continues yet. But I'm continuosly working on it and it should happen soon enough. I cannot guarantee an Foxhound (no continues, basically) run in the marathon though, since literally one small thing can ruin it. (Huge shoutouts to Molotov being able to pull an Foxhound run off at AGDQ 2013)
BaffanBaffan Alisia Dragoon Any% 0:20:00 Genesis JPN Link Alisia Dragoon was released in 1992 on Genesis. It's a platformer game with an innovative attacking system. Alisia attacks with lightnings that automatically targets enemies in range, but get weaker if maintained. You can also fully charge it if you don't use it for seconds, which allows to use a powerful attack on the whole screen. The run is massively routed around this ability. Another element of the game is that dragons accompany her. There are 4 of them and their abilities varies. Once again, their management is crucial in order to go faster. There are also multiple power-ups along the way, the run is massively routed to get the best ones without losing to much time to get them.
KrazyRasmusKrazyRasmus Ninja Gaiden Any% 0:20:00 SMS USA Link Obviously the best Ninja Gaiden game, and probably the best platformer for the Sega Master System. Jumping and slashing at its finest. This game was present at both last years ESA and at Dreamhack Winter, and I'm certain that if I'm not the sole commentator, I can squeeze out a better performance and a better run than both of those runs. I've been working on the game lately, finding small improvements here and here, and I think the game can go sub 16 by ESA2015.
EidgodEidgod Grand Theft Auto Vice City Double Bingo 3:00:00 PC Link I (Eidgod) would commentate the bingo race and 3 to 4 GTA people depending on what would work best with layouts and things would run. Estimates could be changed quite easily from 2 to 4 hours depending on needs, since it depends heavily on the bingo sheet. For the bingo sheet i would be able to create a custom bingo sheet that would increase the entertainment factor quite a bit. The linked video shows how this was done similar at the GTAMarathon also commentated by me (Eidgod).
S.S. Half-Life 2: Episode Two RTA 0:56:00 PC Link My run last year was an absolute wreck and I would like to rectify that. I replaced my PC so that it is now able to actually run the game without crashing every other map. This should make practising the game not only possible, but also easy. Unlike last year, I will be doing RTA strats, simply because that is the most popular category (although I do not enjoy it as much). This means that three cutscenes will be skipped: The primary silo cutscene, and the tetralogue.
S.S. Half-Life 2: Episode One RTA 0:44:00 PC Link The Half-Life 2 game with the least amount of cutscenes out of the three. RTA strats that have been discovered now allow not only the first cutscene, but also the second to be skipped, essentially turning a cutscene-only map into a gameplay-only map. I thought last year's Ep1 run was extremely fun to do and would like to do it again, only better.
RueakeRueake Second Sight Normal Any% 1:05:00 PC Link This is a really good underrated game from the makers of Timesplitters. Like most games I run its full of glitches and sequence breaks to make it an entertaining run, its not a run without out of bounds. I've put a lot of work into routing and glitching this game after Cerpin showed me the initial glitches he had found.
RueakeRueake Myth Makers: Orbs of Doom Any% 0:25:00 PC Link This is a beautifully awful rip off of Monkey Ball from notorious developers Data Design Interactive. This speedrun was born at last years ESA when Bangerra and me started finding some small skips in the levels. We ended up having a competitive battle over Time Attack records. Hopefully this will be a race with bangerra if he's up to re-learning any%. Otherwise I'll just have to run it solo.
LysteriaLysteria Renegade Ops NG+ any% co-op 1:25:00 PC Link So this game is an action packed badass piece of work top-down view game where you drive fully weaponized cars. It goes quickly, there are a lot of cool stunts and jumps in it and I think it's original enough that it can land on ESA. I'm playing this game with tyr and co-op adds a lot of depth into the run, with a decent amount of splitting during missions to go through the objectives, and the possibility to recover one another's mistakes by switching routes when needed. NG+ is being used mostly because it's quicker and it adds consistency to the run. While there is some RNG in the game, it never is a run killer and it can be adapted pretty easily. One cool thing about this run too is that there are a lot of driving skills involved, as well as some cool tricks/skips. While this game can crash (though it's a rare occurence), the worst we can lose is a few minutes in a stage, so 1h25/1h30 should be more than enough to complete the run, considering our RTA is sub 1:18:00 now.
stelzigstelzig Super Mario Sunshine Any% 1:25:00 Wii JPN Link This run was at ESA2014 and the run hasn't really changed much. I would however most likely be able to do a cleaner/faster run than previous entries.
stelzigstelzig Super Mario Sunshine 120 shines 3:35:00 Wii JPN Link My favourite category for this game and much more entertaining than any% in my opinion. The implementation of blue coins also makes it pretty different from any%. I haven't played this category in a while so I've put the estimate a bit higher than I probably should, but I will practice it if the game gets in.
kareshikareshi Ghosts 'N Goblins Any% 0:30:00 NES USA Link GnG is a game in which I hold the record for fastest completion. Beating it live is no problem! I hope it can go as well as it did at Best of NES.
kareshikareshi Jaws Any% 0:06:00 NES USA Link Jaws can be beaten in under 6 minutes roughly 90% of the time. It's quick and fun.
RickyRicky Jak 3 All Missions 3:20:00 PS2 EUR Link I am submitting this run, as a co-op run with Raccoon_1337, he has the current 2nd place, and i have the 1st. This means we will be switching the controller back and forth. The current WR is 3:05:02. It can go to 3:03, or 3:02. I didn't highlight my 3:05, so here is a 3:06 instead. Jak 3 is an amazing speedgame, that topped the viewer count for ESA 2014, with my any% run last year. All Missions has gotten a lot lower. And there has been a groundbreaking glitch found since the last time i ran. It is now possible to infinitly hover with the jetboard, this is stunning and entertaining to watch. We will of course provide good commentary throughout the run, explain every skip, joke around, and show off some cool glitches. In my opinion, this game would be a great pick since it shows more of the game. I am not submitting any% because there is a recent skip that was found, that makes Jak 3 any% not very safe for marathons. it saves roughly 8 minutes, but you can easily waste 5 minutes doing the skip. The near pixel perfect jumps out of bounds, make this category a bad pitch for a marathon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cb_cEs-ctyM Quick note that PAL doesnt waste any time.
Raccoon_1337Raccoon_1337 Jak 3 All missions 3:20:00 PS2 EUR Link Linked above is ThaRixer's All Missions world record. As he mention he has a 3:05:02 but did not highlight it. I am currently rounding up one year of running Jak 3. I have pushed any% quite low which currently stands at 30:23 [http://www.twitch.tv/raccoon_1337/c/6079017]. I also think that all missions is a better pitch because the act 1 skip would make for a bad race. It would all be up to whoever gets the skip first so most likely we will be minutes apart. I will most definitely lower my all missions pb by the time ESA comes up.
RickyRicky Mirror's Edge Any% 50:00:00 PC Link This game is just god tier for speedrunning, everything about the flow of the game and tricks is just perfect for a marathon. I am willing to race Floubz or MrWalrus if they submit the game. I will provide excellent commentary as i have done in the previous marathons. Quick mention that my any% PB definitely isn't my proudest work, but i do have 2 out of the 23 Time trial World records, i think you should give those a watch as well. I spent a good 33 hours on both of these combined. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QXDs4HAc9A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-Jzzy6EnKs A sequel is planned to be released, so maybe ESA 2016 :]
RickyRicky Jak II: Renegade Any% 1:30:00 PS2 EUR Link I am going to link Unreal704's WR instead of my PB, as my PB is 7 minutes slower. Note that the newly discovered hover glitch saves, well.. 7 minutes. I have yet to do a run with it. I could shave off my time very very easily if i started doing runs with this trick in it. Entertaining to watch us clip through the ceiling and soaring through the air with the jetboard. Jak games always have something new to offer every year. I am willing to race R13arr (Reece), if he submits as well :).
tdawg91tdawg91 Silent Hill 3 NG+ 1:10:00 PC EUR Link I’m actually submitting this as a replacement for my silent hill 3 any% run I submitted a few weeks back. Along with having the stuff that makes the normal any% run great, NG+ runs of Silent hill 3 use the “Princess Heart” item extensively to skip various parts of the game. We do this by activating the item right on a loading zone trigger which means that the trigger doesn’t actually get activated. The biggest skip that takes advantage of this item actually is in the first location you visit, the mall. Instead of going through the otherworld sequence and having to fight split worm, we activate the item right as we are going up an escalator. Here’s a demonstration video of the glitch in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWAuJXGn8EM&t=237 As I mentioned in the previous submission I made, my Silent Hill 2 run at last year’s ESA was almost unanimously well received from both people at the event and online. I can deliver extremely well on the commentary front and even in the little bits of downtime the game has, I’m able to fill it with talking about the amazing story the game has, history behind the run, etc. Basically, what there won’t be is long periods of silence. I'm relatively proficient at the game now at the moment. I still have some grinding to do to achieve a better time however I know the route pretty well and the improvements from here on out are just me having to define the movement for the most part. I'm keeping the estimate the same as my previous submission as there are a very few cool (useless but funny) glitches I can show off at the end.
NeviutzNeviutz Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles 4Player Co-op All Dungeons 3:20:00 GCN JPN Link Crystal Chronicles is a spin-off Final Fantasy game for the Gamecube, and was one of the flagship games for the GBA Link cables, allowing for up to 4-player co-op play.
NeviutzNeviutz Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Any% 4Player Co-op 2:50:00 GCN JPN Link Crystal Chronicles is a spin-off Final Fantasy game for the Gamecube, and was one of the flagship games for the GBA Link cables, allowing for up to 4-player co-op play.
NeviutzNeviutz Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns Beat the Game (Normal) 2:55:00 PS3 JPN Link LRFF13 is the last installment of the Final Fantasy XIII series. With its quite different combat system compared to the previous games in the series as well as its "openness" it allows for various different routes and strategies to be done for the game. Aside from a few downtimes during the run it's a decently fast paced game to run and showcase.
NeviutzNeviutz Resonance of Fate Beat the Game 3:20:00 PS3 JPN Link The video shows one of the fastest runs that have been done for the game nowadays. The estimate may look quite high in comparison but it's simply to account for marathon safety strategies at some points, as well as bad luck that could occur. Resonance of Fate is a lesser known game that has a somewhat unique combat system paired with a lot of action throughout the game, which makes it a decently entertaining watch. Compared to the run during 2013's ESA, the time for the run has been lowered drastically since then. Despite this game having been ran during ESA2013 it would allow for a decent addition to the game lineup, in my opinion, since a lot of new and faster strategies have been found ever since, almost like a complete overhaul of the run itself.
ajneb174ajneb174 The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past No Major Glitches 1:40:00 SNES JPN Link This is the most played category of ALTTP, no out of bounds, no exploration glitch, no save and quit category, there's been a long time since the game was in ESA. I currently have the best european time
ajneb174ajneb174 The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past No Major Glitches 1:40:00 SNES JPN Link This is the most played category of ALTTP, no out of bounds, no exploration glitch, no save and quit category, there's been a long time since the game was in ESA. I currently have the best european time
AliconAlicon The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey & Minnie Normal 0:25:00 SNES USA Link WR at 21:44 so a run might take 23-25 mins if it goes well. Max 30 min run.
jodenstonejodenstone The legend of zelda: Ocarina of Time Any% 0:25:00 WiiVC JPN Link OoT Any% is one of the immortal speedrunning categories, getting improved each year since 98 now. I recently broke the dream limit of 18 minutes and hereby submit the run as WR holder with 17:55. Run uses a new glitch to get the bottle in deku tree by getting floating nuts, which is funny and suits a demorun. Unfortunately it's 23% chance each time to get a nut, which costs 28 seconds each try. Should still be 25 mins at most in a marathon setting.
ProblemsIRLProblemsIRL The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth 10 Characters to the Chest 4:00:00 PC Link The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth speedruns are just as popular on Twitch as its sequel's have been. Despite being a highly RNG-based game, good times can be achieved fairly frequently. The most interesting part about speedrunning this game is the decision making that's constantly happening when you're adapting to what the game throws at you. This category aims to beat the game with 10 out of 11 Characters, leaving out "The Lost" as he is significantly less consistent to beat than any other character. Running the game with all characters also allows to show more than just a handful of the almost 400 items in the game. The estimate is set fairly high as things can still go wrong in a game like this, on average I can finish after around 3:30 though.
ProblemsIRLProblemsIRL The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth 7 Characters to the Chest 3:00:00 PC Link The 7 character run is inspired by the original game. This run aims to beat the game with the 7 characters from the original, leaving out Eden, Azazel and Lazarus. Those 3 add a lot of diversity to the run though, which is why I'd rather run 10 characters if scheduling allows it.
PjoxtPjoxt Montezuma's Return! any% 0:30:00 PC EUR Link 2014 was the year of 'Monte'. Youtl and I picked up the game and worked together to bring the time down from an hour to under 30 minutes. Youtl currently holds the record by 11 seconds, so I'm pretty close. First person platforming at its finest, don't miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity to have Monte in your speedrunning marathon.
RoboSparkleRoboSparkle Mystery Tournament: Blind Races Blind% 6:00:00 GraphCalc USA Link The legends speak of a speedrunner who instinctively understood how to "go fast", who could just take a character and a goal and connect the two in a short amount of time without messing about with "glitches", "strats" or "having any clue about the game whatsoever"... We had a positive reception last year with the Tinertia blind race and Badbrakes' blind run of Rick Dangerous. The viewers found the explanations of how blind running/racing worked informative and entertaining, as well as seeing Badbrakes try not to lose at as Rick died for the kagillionth time... I intend to build on that this year by running a blind speedrun tournament during ESA (thread appearing soon) and then hosting the Top 4 from winners and losers brackets on the Yellow Stream. 6 hours is the "worst case" estimate where we have 8 races broadcast and each game+setup takes 45 minutes but we can reduce that if needed.
RoboSparkleRoboSparkle Mystery Tournament: Vs Matches FIGHT% 3:00:00 Java USA Link Similar to the Mystery tournament that Chucat ran at ESA last year and saw the rise of Nidhogg, this will pitch competitors against each other in various versus games from different genres. This tournament was really well received by the attendees and I think there would also be a lot of interest this year. Like with the other tournament I proposed, this would go on Yellow stream and feature the top 8 playing mystery games against each other and being whittled down to one Champion, who will then be sacrificed live on stream for Harvest (we may not include that last bit if we don't have time). I will be putting up a thread on this closer to ESA as one of the challenges Chucat had last year was the lack of planning in the game selection. The idea here is to make sure that the stream games are planned out way ahead of time (and probably many of the other games as well). 3 hours should be plenty of time to determine the One True ESA Champion. Shaq Fu probably won't make an appearance here as it would definitely break the internet... again.
Mhmd_FVCMhmd_FVC Age of Empires Greek Campaign 0:40:00 PC Link Age of Empires is your classic RTS game spanning from the Stone Age to the Iron Age, with a range of different types of units and many strategic possibilities. Most of the single-player campaigns have not been speedrun very much until recently, and I have decided to pick a campaign well-suited for a marathon run: one that is relatively short, and one that is complex. The "Glory of Greece" campaign fulfills both of those "requirements" that I put. It's quite interesting, as it's full of crazy strategies and RNG as well, which is why the estimate is so high. I think a good run of this would be around 30 minutes, so the 46-minute run I linked is nowhere near good, but it can definitely be pushed down to a time like that by the time ESA comes around. All in all, Age of Empires definitely deserves a chance to shine at ESA, as it has not been shown at a marathon ever and there are many who don't know about AoE speedrunning and who would be interested in seeing such a run.
flickyflicky Dragon's Crown NG+ Infernal Co-op 0:30:00 PS3 EUR Link It will be that video but better and on a harder difficulty. May require online connection (depending on local play. Will be playing with bangerra. Not really sure why I'm writing this, I know all of the stuff and I'm deciding games. Anyway, hi future me. Go get a girlfriend and do something with your life. You suck.

bangerrabangerra Skylanders: Trap Team Any% Easy (Semi-co-op) 3:00:00 PS3 EUR Link Glitch-heavy speedrun with a ton of difficult skips! Realtime Skylander Swapping! Bossfight co-op with Suzy! Attracts Small Children!
bangerrabangerra Myth Makers: Orbs of Doom Any% (Trixie) 0:25:00 PC EUR Link Race with Rueake (if I can get on his level) High skill Monkey Ball ripoff with wonky physics and funky skip. High potential for disaster runs! (always a plus)
bangerrabangerra Wendy: Every Witch Way Any% (normal) 0:25:00 GBC USA Link Cute WayForward platformer with gravity-switching gameplay à la VVVVVV Still need to learn this game! Video is the TAS
ZrunsZruns Majora's Mask 3D Any% 2:10:00 3DS USA Link Old run! its a 2:13 but my ETA will be around 2:10:00 and expected run will be 2:00:00 - 2:07:00, so it will be alot faster than 2:13!
S.S. SWAT 4 Any% easy (SP) 1:05:00 PC Link My submission for a single player any% run on easy (which requires no minimum score). The crew is probably going to submit coop with Stetchkov Syndicate expansion (to allow 10 players) though, which probably will take precedence, but I'm submitting this anyway. (Coop is fixed to hard difficulty, thus requiring a score of at least 75% in order for the mission to have counted as passed) This game makes no sense to speedrun, which makes it all the more fun. Even single player is a complete mess. Basically whereas in coop everything will be shouted at, in single player everything will be shot at. Even innocent people don't remain save. Irony has it that ingame people usually associate SWAT with safety, but nothing is less true.
RoboSparkleRoboSparkle Batman: Arkham Asylum any% Easy (add 10 mins for Hard) 1:40:00 X360 EUR Link Submitting again because the route has changed significantly since I posted above thanks to new skips and the time is now much lower. Even the linked video, while it shows the current route, is probably a "worst case" scenario for easy because I haven't yet fully learned the new tricks. Easy is about 10 mins faster than Hard with much less risk of death (apart from insta-death to Scarecrow or Croc), but Hard has more impressive strats for beating Bane and Titans; could be a good donation incentive. Batman now saves fewer Doctors and guards than ever before, lets a small army of armed goons run amok in the Asylum without consequence, and never actually bothers to do anything about Scarecrow. Thanks to the combined efforts of the Arkham speedrunning community (but particularly to AKheon who discovered the glitches that allow this), this run is arguably the most broken in the Arkham series and should be a very entertaining watch.
HiipFireHiipFire Jet Set Radio Future Any% 2:30:00 Xbox USA Link JSRF is a very good cult game that is known for it's iconic soundtrack and visual style. This speedrun has alot of cool tricks and interesting routing that helps keep it entertaining for the entire 2 hours. The video I linked is the current wr. The estimate can probably go down the closer we get to the event. I would also very much love to do a race with Rueake.
HiipFireHiipFire Halo 3 Easy 1:20:00 X360 EUR Link Submitting this just incase Dark won't be able to go. Halo 3 is a really good speedgame with alot of cool movement related tricks and skips.
ZibangZibang Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage 14 talisman 0:35:00 PSP USA Link The older any% category of this 3D platforming classic, released in 1999 for the PlayStation. Despite not doing the penultimate skip of the game, Gulp skip (which reduces the WR to under 10 minutes) this category is still full of skips and out of bounds tricks, enabled by the "Double Jump" glitch. In my opinion it makes for a better watch than the really short any%, which is basically just skipping into all of the bosses. I am playing this on a PSP because it's as fast as NTSC PS2 without actually having the NTSC PS2 myself. I could easily improve my time with a few tricks and route improvements to get closer to the 26:00 WR but I am pretty happy with the run as it is.
FrokenokFrokenok Sonic Generations Any% 1:03:00 PC EUR Link Sonic Generations is a fast action packed platformer that came out for Sonic's 20th anniversary and features iconic stages from his past competely remade(in 2011) for today's graphics. Game features 2 gameplay styles! Classic Sonic with strictly 2D style & Modern Sonic with 3D/2.5D style. The speedrun has its fair of tricks/skips/glitches and is very good looking. Compared to the previous runners of the game in marathons & Talon in the latest AGDQ i can show some "new" stuff that werent shown before in a marathon setting
FrokenokFrokenok Sonic Generations: Unleashed Project Any% 0:30:00 NES EUR Link Unleashed Project is a mod for Sonic Generations that puts Sonic Unleashed Main Daytime stages in Generations graphics(or even better if you enable the fxpipeline which makes everyhting much better), physics, controls & movement! This mod was made by a few Sonic fans and its even recognized(unofficially) by SEGA themselves since the day they released the mod they dropped the price of Generations to half point for people to buy it. Speedrun is really fast-paced and uses Generations controls & physics to do tricks/skips . Currently i hold the 2nd best time in the any% category.
FrokenokFrokenok Sonic and the Black Knight Any% Race 1:00:00 Wii EUR Link Sonic and the black knight is the 2nd & last storybook game and puts Sonic in the arthurian legend tasked with taken down King Arthur. Game has a unique style of play compared to other titles in the franchise since in this one you need to make use of the motion controls the game features and with the sword Caliburn defeat enemies and bosses. Compared to popular belief though speedrun of the game is really fast-paced and by abusing to an extend the soul surge ability Sonic has you go to extreme speeds.(most likely even faster than Boost mechanic in latest Sonic games) For this game me & Flyingfoxtsc decided to race against each other since our times are close and we think its gonna be a better watch if its in a race setting
FrokenokFrokenok Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode 2 Any% 0:55:00 PC EUR Link Sonic 4 Episode 2 is a modern take on Sonic's classic games that uses Sonic's modern moves and abilities to make it unique while trying to give the feeling of the classics. EP2 direct sequel/continuation to EP1 & vastly superior to its predecessor features the return of Tails the invincible sidekick & this time around you got new moves you can use with him like the Rolling Combo & Copter Combo. Speedrun just like the classics features precise jumps and knowing the layout of the stage to go fast. Rolling combo also is a classic way of implementing the boost mechanic in the game and by abusing it you can go much faster.

FrokenokFrokenok Sonic Lost World Any% Wingless 1:35:00 WiiU EUR Link Sonic Lost World is the 1st game for the Wii U and Sonic Team decided to go into a completely different way compared to the Boost era games(Unleashed, Colours, Generations). Featuring new moves like the Free Running that lets you run on any wall a la Prince of Persia style, the kick attack & multi lock on homing attack along with Sonic's spindash & bounce attack you got all the tools you need to go through the planet called Lost Hex The game features 2 categories. Any% & Any% Wingless. In any% category by abusing the game's 1-up system you can skip portions of the game. To do that you need to either die in the same section 5 times or go from 1 to 0 life. That way a wing capsule appears and warps you to next checkpoint. While wingless is pretty much the standard any% category seen in many games. Speedrun of the game just like any other 3D Sonic game has its share of tricks/skips & glitches that makes it an interesting unique.
ZibangZibang Crash Team Racing any% 1:00:00 PS2 EUR Link Crash Team Racing is for many a classic game title. Following the popularity of the first three Crash Bandicoot games, this game was also a huge success, and with good reason. SavusukkaSavusukka The Wheel of Time Any% 0:25:00 PC Link A first person shooter using spells instead of guns. It's based on the popular fantasy book series of the same name. The run is very fast paced and heavy in both glitches and execution, and thanks to some huge skips it's also a very short run. I am currently placed 2nd on the leaderboards, but I intend to reclaim the record before or during the summer. A possible donation incentive is to watch the end-of-credits scene, which adds either 1 or 5 minutes to the run time depending on if a save is used or if the credits are watched.
gongonggongong A Hat in Time - Beta Build All Time Pieces 0:40:00 PC Link A Hat in Time already has a great speedrun community, even though still in development, we even have the actual developers viewing many of our streams. I believe it's a great game for speedrunning and a very entertaining run to watch. I've been one of the main speedrunners of the game since back in the alpha days where I had the any% wr, and for a very long time also the all hourglasses one, but lost it with ~0.8 seconds. The video is the current wr of the beta, you should note that the beta has only been out for a very short time, and that there's still optimization to be done. My estimate is with loads, while the wr is without, it's probably a rather high estimate anyway (depending on load times). If possible this could become a race, if any of the other runners were to make it to ESA, and if you were to accept the game of course.
TherioTherio Sonic Adventure DX Sonic's story 0:40:00 PC USA Link i got way better than last year also prefer playing on PC as opposed to GCN if possible
YvathacalYvathacal SWAT 4 Stetchkov Syndicate All maps hard (coop) 1:10:00 PC Link More gas and trailers. SWAT 4 was done last year but didn't include the expansion maps and we had some rookies on the squad. This year we want to set it right and actually do it on hard and not have chrno on the team.
TherioTherio Marvel Land Any% Normal/Any% Digest 0:25:00 Genesis USA Link video linked is any% normal and has a bunch of warps, highlight of the run lies mostly in routing efficiencies and silly rng bullshit digest record is linked in the video description and is a 3 and a half minute memecategory that sucks ass but is funny to see once cause it skips from 1-1 to 4-4 (4-6 is the final stage) i was voted most self hating speedrunner in the /srg/ awards 2014 over this game you can't miss out on this one (please only pick one or pick one for marathon and make the other one a donation incentive or something)

IllududeIlludude Goldeneye 007 any% 0:30:00 N64 USA Link The any% category for GE is the most played one apart from ILs, also the one usually used for races. This has no crazy skips/glitches really but very fast gameplay with various tricks used to go fast that have been found during the course of GE's 15 or so years of speedrunning history.
DomakrDomakr Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Any% (easy difficulty) 0:10:00 PC Link It's sorta been done to death, but I haven't had the chance to do it personally. I'm definitely willing to do a race, if any other THUG2 runners are attending.
ZwajkenZwajken Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem Any% 2:20:00 GCN EUR Link I ran this game in 2014's ESA, (hence the video since my actuall PB is off a TV due to capture card problems) and I hope to run this game again, probably Any%. PB is 2:12:27 but I sat estimate for 2:20 since that is the time I got with dying at the final boss and other misstakes in the run. I do believe my commentary was quite good, as it was one of my goals with showing the game up at a big marathon. Since it's a small game but IMO, it needs more attention, especially the speedrunning-aspect of it. My PB is better due to better excusion and as well as new game disc. I am willing to play on a Nintendo Wii.
ZwajkenZwajken Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem 100% 4:00:00 GCN EUR Link In addition for me to submitting Any% for Eternal Darkness I will also submit 100%, although it's a long shot hence to a few things: The game is very linear, but routing with spells and such which is something I haven't done at this point. I am not sure exactly how long the estimate will be, since I haven't done a single run, only practice segmented parts. I only have so much time doing runs in anyway. But if 100% should make it instead of Any%, I will dedicate my time into it, that's for sure. As I stated earlier, it might be long shot submiting this category but I thought it would be better than to take a chance, rather than not.
ElguElgu Quake Easy 100% 1:00:00 PC Link Quake. Kill all the enemies. Get all the secrets. repeat. Easy 100% is not that popular of a category. It's very different from Easy Runs. It has a lot of rocket jumping and fair bit of movement still since on Easy the enemies are not so piled up like on Nightmare. On 100% you play 4 extra levels that you don't normally see. Pros: It's Quake Good movement tech Simple to follow and understand Cons: ppl might get mad because my speedgame is better than theirs
ElguElgu Half-Life 2: Episode 2 Any% RTA 0:55:00 PC Link Different route from last year. You skip 2 cutscenes by clipping. Good movement tech It's made by Valve so you know the game is broken
ElguElgu Half-Life 2: Episode 1 Any% RTA 0:45:00 PC Link You skip the long ass cutscene at the start by clipping. Other than that it's the same route as last year maybe some minor route differences between me and S. Again, the movement is fun in this game. Also this game has more combat compared to Episode 2 or Half-Life 2.

Mhmd_FVCMhmd_FVC Strife: Veteran Edition Any% Bad Ending 0:30:00 PC Link Strife: Veteran Edition is a new remake of the original Strife, released back in 1996. It's a combination of a first-person shooter and an RPG, so that gives it a unique feel. It was built on the Doom engine too, so it's almost like Doom but with a different "story", and actually having a proper storyline! Also, Bad Ending is basically synonymous with just Any%, since it's the fastest ending available. Back to the game. It's not very well-known since it was released just before Quake was, so of course it was buried under all of the hype for Quake. Still, it's a great game to speedrun and it should make a good show since it's quite fast-paced. As for me, I haven't learnt the entire route yet, but I'm nearly done. I'm just submitting this in case it does actually get in, since I really think it deserves to be showcased alongside the other lesser-known speedgames.
JazzyJazzy Spyro: Year of the Dragon 100egg 1:15:00 PS USA Link The Video linked is the WR VoD by SSBMstuff, my current PB is a 1:02:xx but I don't have a video for it. 100egg is the former any% category of Spyro 3 which reguires you to get 100 dragon eggs in order to open the final boss door. The run features several Out of bounds and glitches including proxies and Swim in the airs The game is originally a PS1 game but will be played on a PS2.
flyingfoxflyingfox Sonic CD 2011 Any% Tails 0:25:00 PC Link Sonic CD is a 2D platform game where the main gameplay mechanic is a time travel system that enables players to move between different time periods within each level. I'll be using the 2011 version to play as Tails. His move set is from Sonic 3 but his spin dash physics are from Sonic 2. There are some skips from the original CD that can't be done on the 2011 version and a couple of skips that need to be executed in a different way. Tails brings a unique style of gameplay because of his flying ability, especially when combined with speed shoes. His flying mechanics pretty much break the game (especially Wacky Workbench boss), which makes him faster than Sonic. I currently hold the world record for this category and I will be improving this. I must use the JP soundtrack.
flyingfoxflyingfox Sonic and the Black Knight Any% Race 1:00:00 Wii EUR Link Sonic and the Black Knight is the second Sonic Storybook game, which is set in the world of King Arthur. The game has a unique style of combining Sonic's speed with a swordfighting system. The main skill in speed running this game is to defeat certain enemies and manage your soul gauge which is filled by defeating enemies and collecting Red Fairies. With no enemies around you can use the soul gauge to run extremely fast, which is called soul charge but this depletes the soul gauge. Also by using certain sword fighting techniques and timing it well, you can one cycle certain bosses. I will be racing against Frokenok since it would be better to watch if in a race setting. I have pb'd in the video attached and intend to improve it.
mobiusmanmobiusman Iji All items 1:10:00 PC Link Iji is a truly classic indie metroidvania whose legacy has somehow not been given the attention it deserves by speedrunners. The game has not been seen since AGDQ 2012, despite being great for speedrunning. All Items is a category I created myself to showcase the cool secrets and crazy strats you wouldn't normally see in a playthrough. These involve lots of rocket jumping, getting lategame items early, manipulating enemies into helping you, quick-killing (or in one case, very slow-killing) bosses, and all that jazz, driven by clever use of the game's attribute system. If you like shooting rockets at big alien robot monsters then this is probably the speedrun for you. It was also made in sweden!
NordNord Grand Theft Auto IV Any% 6:00:00 PC Link Another fantastic game by Rockstar, probably most known for Roman, the character that everybody loves! A run of this contains too many timesavers to count but it is your typical GTA game with many shortcuts and fun moments of randomness.
NordNord Grand Theft Auto V Any% 8:00:00 PC Link You already know this game right? This is set as PC but can be done on PS3 if need be since we have yet to get this version of the game and don't know if we can find more timesavers before ESA hits but I am sure we will!
DeathBasketDeathBasket Mario Golf All Courses 1:05:00 N64 USA Link A very fun game to play and one that is hard to master. The goal of this category is to complete the six courses the game has to offer without skipping any holes. Speedrunning this game at a high level requires super fast decision making, a good understanding of the game's physics, and lots of consistency. Though it might not look like it, the game is very complex and being able to play it quickly and accurately is very impressive. On the harder courses, being just a frame off with shot timing can cost tens of seconds, making this a really intense run for the player at times. My current PB is second place and only one second from the record for this category.
MrBean35000vrMrBean35000vr Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back 100% 1:25:00 PS2 EUR Link Crash Bandicoot 2 is a very fast-paced platformer with a lot of fun tricks, and a movement technique that allows us to take on the game at almost double the intended speed. Quirky physics, challenging platforming and no interruptions by cutscenes make this game a very enjoyable and satisfying watch. The 100% category allows us to show off all of the secret routes in the game and a whole heap of other content at the cost of only 30 minutes over a standard any% route. Happy to race with SwordofSeals, or anyone else who submits this category.

FloubzFloubz Mirror's Edge Any% 0:45:00 PC Link Mirror's Edge is the first person, parkour, made for speedrunning, top tier video game of our/all generations. Featuring loads of glitches and OOB tricks that will destroy minds and leave jaws planted on the ground. This game puts the Speed in Speedrun with its fast pace running and non stop action. People will know what it's like to live on the edge, and they will never step back. After 5 years of running and optimizing this game, I believe that more people need to experience the sensation that is Mirror's Edge Any%
FrozerFrozer The Legend of Dark Witch any% 0:25:00 3DS Link Fun little game which is basically Megaman and Gradius combined. I would like to race Crippe in tis game. 100% is also possible. It has the same estimate as any% and it's slightly slower, but it shouldn't take that much longer (a minute max). The video doesn't show an optimal run, but it can easily be optimized in a month
CrippeCrippe The Legend of Dark Witch any% 0:25:00 3DS EUR Link Short and fun indie game that combines Megaman with the upgrade system from Gradius and adds cute anime girls and bodybuilding snowmen. Planning to race this with Frozer. I can also do 100% with the same estimate since it barely adds any extra time. 100% means you have to collect 2 hidden crystals on each stage, most of the crystals are on the way to the boss and only takes a couple of seconds each to get. Any% gets 2 of the 13 crystals. (Video is me playing for the first time in a very long time, so very rusty).
GoostGoost La Mulana any% 2:00:00 PC Link La Mulana is a fantastic Metroidvania style game made by a very small Japanese team, which is often considered to be a "2d Dark Souls" because the game is a very intense run, both due to the fact that the game is very execution heavy, as well as the route requiring you to think of where you have to go next all the time. Because of this, the average casual playthrough takes on average 40-60 hours, whereas the world record breezes through the game in a mere 1 hour and 41 minutes. Because of the fact that there's a lot going on in the game there'll be plenty of things to talk about during the run. This includes the game's mechanics, puzzle solutions and if there's enough time it'd be possible to talk about the story as well! The video linked is the run from SGDQ, which is the last time it was in a big marathon. The second game is coming out this year so this'd be a nice time to show off this game again! Since the SGDQ run the route has been changed quite a bit. One of the most important things we found is a way to prevent the game from crashing on the final fight (which is what happend at SGDQ). There'll be some RNG in the game that can cost a lot of time, but to cope with that I'll make sure to have safety saves where needed. I've been working on the game on and off for 1.5 month now, I'm yet to complete a full run due to the fact that im practising in segments. However, my segmented times are coming along nicely, and I predict that I should be able to get a decent time before ESA!
DwhateverDwhatever Diddy Kong Racing 100% 2:10:00 N64 JPN Link I started around one and a half week ago. I want to improve a lot more before ESA and even get below two hours in 100%.

JukspaJukspa Portal Any% 0:13:00 PC Link Portal is a first person puzzle game involving portals. After receiving the portal gun the game is immediately broken, most chambers are completed using out of bounds routes. There's also some movement techniques you can use to go faster.
SwordofSealsSwordofSeals Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back 100% 1:25:00 PS2 EUR Link Crash 2 is an iconic platformer for the Playstation 1 that displays a large variety of tricks and techs that make it very interesting for speedruns; including abuse of a movement mechanic that allows you to traverse through all levels faster than originally intended. All cutscenes are able to be skipped, so there is no downtime throughout the run. Only 1 level needs to be revisited, as the rest can be completely cleared out on their first visitation. Submitting as a race with MrBean35000vr.
Valyssa0Valyssa0 Sonic Unleashed Any% 3:10:00 PS3 EUR Link Sonic Unleashed has 2 very different gameplay styles. In the day stages your goal is just to run and boost to the end as quickly as you can. However in the night stages, Sonic transforms into a Werehog. Here the gameplay becomes more focused on combat and platforming. The Any% run goes through all the main day and night stages, aswell as boss fights. On top of that, you are required to get sun and moon medals to unlock the later stages. This makes for some interesting and dynamic routing, as you will inevitably miss some medals while blazing through the stages. It's important to know all the medal locations by heart. In the daytime stages there are a lot of speed exploits that allow you to go a LOT faster than normal. These exploits doesn't work for the Werehog, although he does have an attack combo that allows him to clip through walls. Optimizing your movement and combat is very important. Since you need to collect medals along the way, this category doesn't have many big skips. This makes it more safe for a marathon setting. You also get experience from beating enemies, so there's a sense of progression, as you acquire new combos and upgrade your stats.
Valyssa0Valyssa0 Sonic Unleashed All Day Stages + Eggmanland 1:10:00 PS3 EUR Link Sonic Unleashed has 2 very different gameplay styles. In the day stages your goal is just to run and boost to the end as quickly as you can. However in the night stages, Sonic transforms into a Werehog. Here the gameplay becomes more focused on combat and platforming. The day stages are by far the most popular and loved part of Sonic Unleashed, among both speedrunners and casual players. In this category you start from an existing file and just play through all the day stages. This includes 12 extra stages that are not seen in an Any% run. Normally Eggmanland is not included in this category, because it's a mix of day and night sections. I would like to include it in the run though, because it has a lot of crazy shortcuts and it's very impressive to watch it done quickly. In the day stages Sonic has access to a lot of speed exploits that allow him to go significantly faster than normal. This also opens up a lot of possibilities to skip parts of the stage, or in some cases skip almost all of it. This category is just constant high-speed action.
SwordofSealsSwordofSeals Crash Bandicoot: Warped 105% 2:30:00 PS2 USA Link Crash 3, much alike Crash 2, also has a very abusable movement mechanic that allows you to clear the levels faster than originally intended, completely ignoring use of the running shoes powerup. This game has far more collectables than it's predecessor; visits to each level are optimized by collecting multiple items at once during the Relic Time Trials to save on backtracking. As a result, this adds some very difficult platforming segments to the run that are very pleasing to watch. Possible commentary by MrBean35000vr.
SwordofSealsSwordofSeals Mario Kart Wii 32 Track (No Skips) 1:20:00 Wii EUR Link Mario Kart Wii is the best selling racing video game of all time; so it has a place in the hearts of many who grew up with the game before the official online servers went down in May of 2014. The game itself is completely filled with lots of small techs and timesavers that contribute to a fairly impressive looking run. Although the items are RNG, this can create a fair share of humorous and comical moments whilst not providing a hazard to the completion of the speedrun.
DhrGRDhrGR Etrian Odyssey 3 Any% 3:00:00 DS JPN Link Etrian Odyssey is a series known for how ridiculously hard it is, and the speedrun is no different. After some recent discoveries by the TAS, the speedrun is able to finish the game really fast and reliable at a very low level. There is almost no RNG at all in this entire run despite it being an First Person Dungeon RPG, this is because there is a skill that completely removes random encounters, and bosses have a predictable pattern making it a very interesting watch. Final Notes: I linked the current WR as video. I am currently still making a new route (should be finished not too long after submissions close) and this new route should be around 2~ hours instead. There is potential donation incentives for 7 Character Names and 3 Endings (Endings will need a lot more routing, and is currently not really possible, but I hope to have it finished by then)
KennyMan666KennyMan666 Ragnarok Battle Offline New Game, F-Swordman 1:35:00 PC Link RBO is one of the best doujin games out there. It's a pretty technical game to run, since you won't be doing much HP or SP recovery. Expending resources to get a better time in one area can and often will lead to a slower time in the next area, which can be seen a few times in the video (and the ingame timer saves records from all characters you've played, so while there's a few "New record" areas, most of the records will have been gotten when revisiting stages with higher leveled characters on other files). There's also quite a degree of randomness in enemy movement and damage dealt, and movement is not always on your side. But a lot of enemies require different approaches to kill as fast as possible. Female Swordman is the only character I feel a New Game run is really feasible with, as one of her special attacks is absolutely crucial to not getting murdered by later bosses as you won't be doing any extra leveling up in a speedrun. At least there's not much strategy involved when it comes to picking what stats and skills to dump points into.
RueakeRueake Two Brothers Any% 0:25:00 PC Link This is another run where dungeons and bosses are merely suggestions. A 'Zelda' like game with lots of breaks and glitches to keep it fast and entertaining. Brought to us from the great glitching mind of Rocmox.
RoboSparkleRoboSparkle Alien Breed any% 0:40:00 Amiga EUR Link Co-op with Oasiz. Alien Breed is a top-down shooter by Team 17 unofficially based on the Alien films and is a short and very entertaining Amiga game. Oasiz and I had a successful co-op adventure popping balloons in Pang last year and we hope to repeat that success, so even though we haven't played together yet we should be able to do a co-op netplay of this before ESA to practice. I don't have a proper estimate or video yet so I've linked the 40 min Longplay of the game instead to give you a bit of a taste.
RoboSparkleRoboSparkle Pang any% 0:30:00 Amiga EUR Link Co-op with Oasiz. He and I were... buddies... We had a rollocking good time with Pang last year. Despite not being able to practice together until ESA started we came up with a strong co-op run despite rampant ice physics and ladders that will not let you leave! This year we have the magic of netplay to improve our co-oping and hope to repeat that success with more ridiculous balloon-popping strats. We may also work on a Very Difficult run (basically speeds up the balloons) so if that's marathon-safe and if we can make it entertaining we'll add that as a donation option.
btrimbtrim Land of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse Any% 0:30:00 SMS USA Link Expands on the action from Castle of Illusion w/ additional items that allow Mickey to climb walls and shrink himself to make progress through the game. There is a full-level skip (at 18:51) This is for part of an Illusion series relay, a race, or a solo run. Possible opponents for this game: KrazyRasmus or Mephistus Other games in the relay: Castle of Illusion (SMS), World of Illusion. I'm capable of running any of the 5 Mickey games in the series if there's a sudden need. Other participants in the relay: MaxieTheHatter, KrazyRasmus, Pogington, FingersTehHand, Edenal, Grukk I think these games work well as a relay because each subsequent game opens up from the last. The start with Castle of Illusion SMS is a typical platformer with lots of neat tricks. Land of Illusion builds on that with some unique items that expand what Mickey can do. World of Illusion adds co-op (and extra bits) into the mix. Each game adds its own charm and is a bit different to watch despite having the same theme. We're going to make sure we have good commentary for the relay. Edenal has offered to learn the games enough for commentary, I know all 3 games, and it's possible we might have a dedicated commentator depending on availability during ESA.
btrimbtrim Alex Kidd in Miracle World Any% 0:20:00 SMS JPN Link Jan Ken Po! Alex Runs, Jumps, and Punches his way through this fast-paced platformer. He also uses a Motorcycle, pedal-copter, and speedboat on his journey. When coming face-to-face with Janken the Great, Alex uses a cane to bravely fly away instead of fighting the evil tyrant. Playing the Japanese version cuts down the time spent loading exposition text.

KennyMan666KennyMan666 Mega Pony Rainbow Dash 0:35:00 PC Link ARE YOU READY TO PONY An in my opinion pretty great Mega Man clone. Played here is Rainbow Dash mode, as it is the best mode for speedrunning and in my opinion the most entertaining to watch. Also probably the hardest mode since your only means of attack is launching yourself into the enemies. Played it on bonus stream last year. Reception was mixed, but in general the sentiment seemed to be "better than I thought for a pony game". Guaranteed to be 20% cooler than anything else you could put in a 35 minute slot.

MaxieTheHatterMaxieTheHatter Castle of Illusion Any% 0:20:00 SMS USA Link This is Castle of Illusion for the Sega Master System, very different from Castle of Illusion for the Sega Genesis and Castle of Illusion HD. The run features cool skips and general cuteness. Part of the Illusion relay mentioned by Btrim in his Land of Illusion submission. Could potentionally be a race against Krazyrasmus and perhaps Btrim should a relay not get accepted.
KrazyRasmusKrazyRasmus Bonkers: Wax Up! This run features level skipping, screen wrapping and jumping backwards into walls. Al Baker really did a good job with this one.
DrastDrast Paper Mario 3D Land Any% 0:30:00 PC Link Fun little fan game, has some cool speedrunning glitches/tricks such as skipping cutscenes, breaking bosses. It is a 2d platformer with some fun stuff, can be quite laggy at times
AphoxAphox Darksiders 2 any% 1:10:00 PC EUR Link I have speedran this game basicly since release and worked on the route mostly myself. I hold the WR for this game currently with 57:28 (no loads). In the any% route you can skip a lot of content using the infinite jump glitch, beeing so underleveled in an RPG makes the fights ofc more challanging as they would usually be. However there is another glitch to help out for this which we call "The unstopable glitch". It allows us to permanently activate a buff that usually only activates for 8 seconds.
RueakeRueake Jet Set Radio Future Souls% Race w/ Hiipfire 3:10:00 Xbox USA Link The MST category of JSRF, because 100% is kind of stupid for one section so this lets us have fun getting all the graffiti souls without the post credits. Its an interesting blend of the speed from any% and the cool little tricks from 100%. I'll be re-learning this category and adding some minor tweaks to the current route as a few areas can be improved.
AphoxAphox DmC - Devil may Cry any% Heaven or Hell difficulty 0:55:00 PC EUR Link Have speedrun this game since shortly after release, improved the run a lot over and over during the years and finally brought the time down to 38:49. Using devil trigger in this game speeds up the overall gamespeed and that is why I use it as much as I can in the WR run, however it is much harder to see what happens with devil trigger on and thats why I would not use it as excessively during a marathon run. The game overall is really fast-paced and has lots of OOB and glitches!
epicdudeguyepicdudeguy Prince of Persia 3D any% 1:45:00 PC Link I discovered a glitch in this game last week, wich involves minimizing the game (in windowed mode). Using this i can zip through thin walls and such, wich makes for a pretty cool speedgame.
AphoxAphox C&C: Tiberian sun any% - fastest gamespeed 0:25:00 PC EUR Link I only played this game for a short time, but it was really fun. The fastest gamespeed is a bit crazy, because the game does not have a cap on how fast it can play on the fastest gamespeed... and with modern computers it obviously runs far faster than it was ever supposed to. If requested I could play it on a slower gamespeed which does cap the games speed, but the run would obvioulsy take more time. Another thing I want to note is, that the game needs 16bit graphics, so you have to switch windows to 16bit real quick and switch it back to 32bit for the next run. Also noteworthy is that the games original resolution is only 800x600 and I play the game in windowed mode to use a certain glitch that allows you to build everywhere on the map.
SphereSphere Star Trek: Elite Force 2 Any% 2:00:00 PC EUR Link Pretty linear first person shooter based on the quake3 engine. Strafe jumping is used extensively due to that. Damage boosts off of enemys or with your own weapons allow for a few skips, but nothing gamebreaking.
GreenalinkGreenalink New Super Mario Bros. 2 Warpless 0:53:00 3DS EUR Link This game was done last year as a Warps run. The Warpless run is notably different as it goes through a different set of stages. The only parts that are identical to Warps is the start the World 1 and everything in World 6. My PB is ~24 off from WR and a no choke/error run can be cut down to under 49 minutes.
GreenalinkGreenalink Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars Any% Glitched 0:04:00 DS EUR Link Vice City as the most broken game? Nah, not after watching this. Uses a bug that saves the placeholder gameplay, loads up that glitched save and goes for the final mission. Setup time varies if it's after a console/PC game or after a 3/DS game...

GrokkenGrokken Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Any% 4 player Co-op 2:50:00 GCN JPN Link Any% Crystal Chronicles is a spin-off Final Fantasy game for the Gamecube, and was one of the flagship games for the GBA Link cables, allowing for up to 4-player co-op play.
GrokkenGrokken Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles All dungeons 4 player Co-op 3:20:00 GCN JPN Link Crystal Chronicles is a spin-off Final Fantasy game for the Gamecube, and was one of the flagship games for the GBA Link cables, allowing for up to 4-player co-op play.
RaisingTheBarrRaisingTheBarr Jak II: Renegade All Missions 3:15:00 PS2 EUR Link I am linking XTVaser's run as it is the most up to date. Jak II has been run by ThaRixer at previous years of ESA and has proved to be very popular with viewers, with the discovery of Hover all Jak II categories have had times brought down drastically and All Missions Is no exception. All Missions Doesn't allow large % Warps to Skip sets of missions and so is a much more varied category that incorporates a wider variety of Tricks, the Tricks also have a higher level of consistency and have smaller time losses tham those in any% and so are much more suited to a marathon. My PB is currently outdated as have not finished a run with latest strats there are also new strats being discover at the moment that may bring this time closer to the 3 hour mark
RaisingTheBarrRaisingTheBarr Jak II: Renegade Any% 1:30:00 PS2 EUR Link I have linked my PB but is currently my first run with newest strats and so has much time to save. Jak II any% has been run at the past years of ESA by ThaRixer to a good reception from the viewers. With the discovery of Hover the any% category has been changed drastically since last years run with around 7 minutes being saved. I am also willing to Race with ThaRixer if this is possible
ThreeLetterMaxThreeLetterMax Another World any% 0:20:00 PC Link Another World is a classic of gaming in the early 90s. It utilizes the unusual (before the Flash days) rendering technique of drawing 2D sprites with vector graphics, and combines it with a similarly unique brand of pseudo-cinematic gameplay which requires you to know a ridiculously specific series of events in advance AND adapt to a somewhat dickish enemy AI. This results in hours of trial-and-error which can be boiled down to about 10 minutes of actual gameplay with enough efficiency, and an ability to exploit a few skips. Through a blend of nostalgia, and the fact that there was really nothing else like it, the game still gets to be called a classic. My current PB is 16:44. With practice, at least a third of that time can easily be lopped off.
ShrimpShrimp SWAT 4 Stetchkov Syndicate All maps hard (coop) 1:10:00 PC Link TRAILERS
ShrimpShrimp Dark Messiah of Might and Magic any% 0:45:00 PC Link I started running dm early this year, there is some new tech since last year. You are able to pause the game on certain ledges and launch yourself at high speeds, this speeds up some stages and lets you skip a few cutscenes and an autoscroller. Recently I beat elgus record by about 1m30s, and I aim to keep bringing that time down. While the game can be frustrating to run due to the need to get all tricks on first attempt, it would make for a good marathon game as every map has interesting and varied ways of completing quickly. tl;dr - you kick things and go fast
Talon2461Talon2461 Sonic Adventure 2: Battle Hero Story 0:45:00 PC Link A fast-paced 3D platformer. Hero Story shows off all 3 different playstyles and the speedtricks used, from momentum manipulation as Tails/Eggman to hint memorization for Knuckles/Rouge. It also has huge level skips along with other very interesting speedtech such as Superbouncing, Gravity Control and many clips.
MisterHidden94MisterHidden94 Trials Fusion Challenge% Relay 2:45:00 PC Link Challenge% is an amazing category. The goal is to complete all 120 challenges that exist in the game. It is a unique category in the series as the route differs between every runner. The category makes the game a lot more interesting to watch for the normal viewer, as there is a lot more variety to the run compared to any% or 100%. The category has never been done at a marathon. Instead of just completing tracks, we do things like switching the perspective of the track, score a goal, do a puzzle, getting a heatstroke and a LOT more. This means, the run always has something new and amazing to offer the viewer, as we're going to blast through all 120 challenges that exists, excluding DLC. We're also going to do commentary about various things about the category, the challenges we do and a lot more, so the run stays interesting for those watching. I am currently the WR holder, with a time of 2:25:54, but can become many minutes lower. This run will be a relay with TheBlazeJp, who currently has the 2nd best time in this category.
MisterHidden94MisterHidden94 Trials Fusion 100% Race 1:10:00 PC Link In 100% we get the gold medal in every single track, excluding DLC. This is different from any%, as we do all tracks including the extremes, which adds the difficulty of the game. But it's also not as difficult and interesting as challenge% in that we don't do the challenges, which also make the extreme tracks harder. My current PB is 1:02:30, which can still be improved by a minute or two with a close to faultless run. This will be a race between me and TheBlazeJp, who has the WR of 58:51.
TimpZTimpZ Freedom Planet Lilac Normal any% 1:20:00 PC Link From members of Sonic Retro, Freedom Planet is like a love letter to several Sega Genesis games not to mention the Mega Man series. It features lots of interesting boss strategies, fast paced platforming and even the Sonic staple "zips". The speedrun itself is very intuitive to understand even for people that haven't played it themselves and is a treat for both eyes and ears. It also features a "classic mode" without cutscenes and very few pauses in action. The 3 top runs in real time for the game are all under an hour so 1:20 is a conservative estimate that could potentially be reduced as I get more experience in the game.
ThreeLetterMaxThreeLetterMax World of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck Co-Op% 0:30:00 Genesis USA Link World of Illusion features three different campaigns. One where you play as Mickey, one as Donald, and a Co-Op where you play as both. For the Co-Op campaign, Mickey and Donald need to work together in running fast, lifting each other onto platforms, and not accidentally tangling each other up. Submitted as part of a relay race of the Disney Illusion series. Planned lineup would be FingersTehHand & I racing against Edenal and Grukk.
FingersTehHandFingersTehHand World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck Co-Op 0:30:00 Genesis USA Link This game is split into three campaigns: One where you play as Mickey Mouse, one where you play as Donald Duck and one where two players play as both Mickey and Donald. The co-op campaign features some amazing moments that force players to work together in order to get through the game. Running this game is mainly a matter of co-ordination and teamwork, with a few tricks that speed up the game as well. Submitting this as part of the Disney Illusion series relay race that btrim mentioned in his submission of Land of Illusion. Pogington and I plan to race against Edenal and Grukk during this part of the relay. The linked video shows our second attempt at running the game but we are confident that we'll master the game before ESA.

FinnSpireFinnSpire Dust: An Elysian Tail Any% Warpless 1:10:00 PC Link Dust: AET is a wonderful indie title inspired by oldschool 2D metroidvanias. A lot of it's movement mechanics can be abused for speedrunning purposes, like spamming dash without any cooldowns or chaining the aerial attack for infinite flight. Any% Warpless hasn't been played in a marathon as of yet, unlike it's Any% Warps counterpart (both categories being equally popular). The name comes from not using an unintended warp ability which allows you to skip majority of the areas in the game. Warpless category showcases the full game and most of it's areas nicely while still having a good bunch of hard skips and tricks. (Quick note: I can definitely provide a well-rounded commentary unlike the one in my video, I had a long grind behind me.)

MergyMergy Ratchet & Clank: Into The Nexus Any% 0:50:00 PS3 USA Link As the latest installment in the Ratchet & Clank Franchise, Into the Nexus offers a short and enjoyable speedrun experience. Once the run went through a lot of route changes and glitch discovering, it became an even better viewer experience and is really fun to watch and play. The current speedrun is a good example of Out of Bounds, Checkpoint Mechanics and resource Managment in terms of Ammo. Even better - when a certain simple checkpoint is found, the run will be even faster, about 10 minutes, if not more. My current run isn't the fastest, but i will improve my time by a lot until ESA is happening.
MergyMergy Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories World Tournament 1:00:00 PS USA Link From many people considered as the "Meme Game" of Speedruns but yet the perfect example for RNG Mechanics and how games will screw you over because of it. This game isn't really what people call "a speedrun", but yet a lot of people love to watch runs of it. You can explain a TON while playing this game and that's mainly the reason for this submission.
MrTakahashiMrTakahashi Dark Souls 2 All Bosses Including DLC 3:00:00 PC EUR Link Dark Souls 2 - The successor to the most difficult game in the world so it must be twice as hard right? Well maybe not... This is the story of a half-naked man running through the world of Drangleic trying to become the ultimate hollow by poking the bosses repeatedly in the ankles with a rapier. This run consists of killing every single boss (including the DLC bosses). I've done a showcase race of this run for GamesDoneQuick but this run has not appeared on any marathon so far. I currently hold the world record in this category in 2:34:28 and have/have held records in other categories for this game as well. Adam_akAdam_ak Doom E1-E3 UV-speed 0:30:00 PC Link Having been around for over 20 years, Doom has become a cornerstone of the speedrunning scene. Precise movement and well timed shots are imperative if you want to get anywhere without being gunned down by the endless hordes. I've primarily been running E3 of Doom 1, but know how to do E1 and E2 as well, and would be thrilled to do all three at the event. To spice it up, I could also throw in E4 and make it an Ultimate Doom run instead. Video is of the greatest Doom category out there: UV-ballerina/tornado.
jokajoka Tiny Toon Adventures - Babs Big Break Any% 0:20:00 GBC USA Link This replaces my Mega Man 3 submission! Race Vs. Nudua, an epic no-running allowed, action packed game for the game boy
Adam_akAdam_ak Age of Empires IL Showcase 0:50:00 PC Link An amazing RTS game with lots of clever ILs. Rather than doing a full campaign run, this submission is about showing off the most interesting ILs in the game, to show what running the game is like. Mhmd_FVC has already submitted 2 full-campaign runs for this game, and I'd be happy to race him in those as well, should they be picked instead. The video shows a random map in the Yamato campaign, where you make the enemy blow up his own government centre instead of having to build up a big army and overthrowing him through combat.
JolziJolzi Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony any% 2:20:00 PC Link Also known as the better GTA4. With more action per minute, more crazy weapons and vehicles, more explosions but less bowling with your cousin and no unnecessary tutorial missions. This run shows every good aspect of the GTA4 era with without the boring stuff in only 2h. Run includes cool skips/glitches like deathwarps, intentionally teleporting npcs, crashing police helis into skyscrapers, blind grenade or golfball throws into nothing (to skip things) or infinite nitro in cars. I might flip some cars in that run.
JolziJolzi Kanye Quest 3030 any% 0:25:00 PC Link The story is based on a real event that happened to Kanye. That alone is reason enough. But overall it's just a short and entertaining run in a funny RPG about (kawaii) rappers in a post apocalyptic future. Some people also want to see me rap ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
JolziJolzi Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction any% p1 2:20:00 PC Link That run is done with the assassin since it's the fastest class in RTA on p1. The run might seem extremly random to somebody who never ran the game but RNG ist not that much of a deal. Maps have layouts and patterns that you can learn. Items are not really needed to finish the run and I will only get runewords that are reliable, easy and fast to get. Recently started to run that game so my times are not that optimal after 4 finished runs. The estimate is more of a guess right now. Also might learn Druid/Sorc/Pala until esa (but these runs would be a bit longer).
GrokkenGrokken Ori And The Blind Forest Any% 1:10:00 PC Link A new metriodvania-style platformer that has been very well recieved both by casual players and speedrunners. It features solid platforming mechanics as well as some major sequence breaks. Leaderboards: http://www.speedrun.com/ori#Any

Primal85Primal85 Hudson's adventure island 2 any% 0:30:00 NES USA Link Very difficult game, there is a high chance that I will not finish the run. But it's still worth watching
CerethCereth Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Any% 6:00:00 PS4 USA Link This game only came out a few days ago, and is a remaster of a PSP game that came out exclusively in Japan a few years ago. It has fast paced action, where you can switch between 14 different characters with different weapons and abilities mid-combat. I'm not actually sure I'm going to run this yet, but since submissions close today I figured I'll submit it in case I do. Video link is just a gameplay video (there are no speedrun videos)
DeathBasketDeathBasket Mario Golf Ring Shot 0:45:00 N64 JPN Link This category is run from a new file, meaning that the runner can only use the four weakest characters in the game to start with, which makes this an interesting challenge. The goal in ring shot mode is to hit your ball through a number of rings on each hole while still scoring a par or lower. There is a total of 36 holes to beat and some (especially on the final course) are very difficult.
KennyMan666KennyMan666 Figment Aranha any% 0:10:00 X360 EUR Link Short and cute little XBLIG platformer. Played with the character that's awesome, as opposed to the character that sucks. It might look like a simple game but there's actually quite a bit of precise movement and routing through the rooms involved.

AMVXAMVX The Saboteur Any% 5:00:00 PC Link The Saboteur is a game based in France during WWII, in a similar style of GTA. It incorporates Assassin's Creed style climbing, and pretty much involves hindering Nazi German operations via. destruction and "revolution" actions. It's got a very unquie colour style, bringing colour back to the city as you "liberate" it, plenty of action sequences and a pretty campy story. The game has never been run before - so there is some interesting tactics used. While it offer stealth a lot for the most part, like most runs, the quickest way is just to drive a truck through the fence, and start shooting a narrow path to the objective. The main car used at this time is a Gestapo cruiser which has machine guns built into the front of it. Video is a temporary example, not a proper speedrun. Can also be done on Xbox 360.

KennyMan666KennyMan666 Bionic Commando Rearmed 100% 1:00:00 X360 EUR Link Video is a run by PJ on the PC version with resets, whereas I'll be doing XBLA version without resets (thus my estimate vs the time in the video, X360 version has longer loading times and not using resets means not exiting out of the truck encounters as that requires playing with a storage device selected which I don't. And accounting for marathon fuckups.), but it shows how the route has changed since I did it at last ESA and the gameplay is obviously no different. Notably, despite being 100%, two stages can be left uncompleted while still collecting all items in the game. I did not have the time to get a full run recorded before submission deadline, but will both stream and record in the months between now and ESA. As soon as university stops eating all my video game time. Classic grappling action game remade in HD, improving on the original in pretty much all areas. PJ says it's a bad game. PJ is wrong. But he's developed some very nice strats for it.
KennyMan666KennyMan666 Bionic Commando Rearmed any% 0:35:00 X360 EUR Link PJ PC version video again. BCR any% hasn't changed as much as 100%, but we now have a map route that completely avoids all trucks, which was solved by PJ after he figured out that early map movement and trucks resetting their positions were related. BCR any% hasn't been in a marathon since 2013, if I remember currectly. Maybe it's about time.
zoton2zoton2 The Simpsons: Hit & Run All Story Missions 2:05:00 PC Link A GTA "clone" which shares similarities to the earlier 3D GTA games, but has enough variation to make it different than all of the other GTA games. A cult classic that many people remember playing when they were younger, and probably found quite difficult nearer the end. "All Story Missions" (sometimes called "All Missions" or "skip-less") is similar to Any%, except you are not allowed to use the skip-mission option that the game allows after failing a mission a number of times, which is both boring to play and watch. I submitted this last year and since then we have gotten the run a low below 2 hours, with WR being sub 1:45. I am not as good as those people yet, but if this was to get accepted, I would practise a lot more and hopefully bring the estimate even further down!
NoobestNoobest Doom 2 UV-speed 0:45:00 PC Link It's Doom 2. It's a good speedgame. That's it.
AMVXAMVX Lego Batman 3 Any% 4:00:00 PC Link LEGO games. Well, still same core mechanics as always. Silly humour, fun gameplay, Superman completely OP. Completely family friendly. (NB: I forgot to mention on my other submission, The Saboteur, that is not really family friendly at all and has an option for nudity on/off). The game, like most LEGO games, does not have a lot of skips, more just simply manipulation of game mechanics. It's jumping from level to level, using the characters provided - free character select isn't available until later. The runs involve using mostly Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter and Cyborg in most chapters. Thankfully there is almost no auto scroller sections, though most of the core gameplay is about solving/building puzzles. Time estimate is an over exaggeration, since many new little tricks are being found, but no run has been recorded as of yet.
zoton2zoton2 Grow Home Any% 0:25:00 PC Link A nice, short "indie" platformer released early February, which gained a small speedrunning community within the first few days of release, which the devs have also been following. The game revolves around you climbing a giant plant and growing it upwards, although the speedrun doesn't do a lot of climbing! Even though the game is relatively new, we have already made a quite optimal route, which relies heavily on skill, with not many glitches being used. Because the devs have been interested in the speedruns, maybe a chance of dev commentary too? The video I have submitted isn't my own, but my PB is 20:01, which could go a few minutes lower by the time ESA happens.
DeathBasketDeathBasket 1080° Snowboarding Match Race: Expert 0:12:00 N64 JPN Link Match Race in expert mode requires beating CPU controlled characters in a race on all six main levels of the game. Doing this quickly means picking the fastest character/board combo, taking the fastest routes through the levels, and staying on your feet as much as possible to maintain speed. Note: the video is bad, I haven't played for some time and I have a lot of practice to do, only uploaded one because it's required. I plan to improve a lot.
zoton2zoton2 Grow Home All Star Seeds 0:30:00 PC Link All the comments from my Any% submission are also applicable for this one, but this one also completes the objective you get given after the credits, which is to collect the 8 star seeds the game spawns around the in game environment (always the same, not RNG so it's marathon safe). This has a really satisfying feeling, because after you have grown your plant upwards, we then get to jump off and return to where we started, collecting the seeds along the way. Again, the video isn't mine because I haven't done a proper run of this category, but I'm pretty sure I could get sub-30 easily.
AMVXAMVX Sunset Overdrive Any% 5:00:00 XboxOne EUR Link It's bright, colourful, wacky fourth-wall-breaking humour and it's all about movement and chaining large combo numbers and overdone weapons. The core of the game is about shooting enemies, and fetch/collect missions, with the odd defence mission thrown into the mix. It's quite fun, donations for character customisations, and really important: collecting smelly shoes and toilet paper. It has very little downtime, apart from some of the cutscenes, since most of them cover loading bars. But really audio, music and game sounds, fun happy punk atmosphere. NB: Video is not of me, but the current record to give an idea of time and movement. My current PB is 5:12, but that can be easily dropped since I died to the final boss, then the game gltiched out once - that lost me about 15 minutes alone having to redo that final mission from the start.
JinnyJinny Mega Man Zero Any% Easy 0:30:00 DS USA Link Very cool and interesting run. As the successor to the SNES Mega Man X series You can count on it to be very fast paced with loads of Dashes and wall kicks, Any% of this game skips alot of the game and just goes straight for the final area of the game. Different frm the X Series you have a Saber, that has a 3-hit combo which will be utilized in the run as the first two slashes deal not alot of damage BUT They leave the bosses with alot less invisibility Which allows me to loop or combo bosses for quick kills (works differently depending on the boss/miniboss) Similar to the X series, there is alot of tight jumps and tight movement in this game is its like made to be run like its succesor. Easy Scenario which will be the mode I will be using gives me a fully levelled Saber and Buster (Which normally takes too much time to level up anyway) which speeds up the game alot. Would be cool if this got in. Crippe has a capture 3DS and Jokaah has his DS cap for this run (so there is capture for it)
zoton2zoton2 Grand Theft Auto V Any% No Mission Skips 7:30:00 PC Link I am submitting this, hopefully, to do as a co-op run with the others who have also submitted this if they are willing to have me. Flicky has shown more interest in this category over Classic% so I am submitting for this category and not Classic%. Unlike the others (from what I've seen), I've actually been doing some routing for this category (on Xbox 360), although I haven't finished a full run yet, I hope to soon. Also, unlike what KVD said, you CAN use taxis during some missions, although not all of them. Like everyone else has said, as PC is not out yet, we don't know if this will be faster/slower than consoles, but hopefully it will be the former. The video I have submitted is the current Classic% WR from the leaderboards.
zoton2zoton2 Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony Any% 2:10:00 PC Link Basically all of what Jolzi said in his submission. This is GTA4, except shorter, no driving between missions, hardly any downtime and crazy weapons and glitches. Also no stupid phone call RNG, which plagues GTA4 vanilla. Taxis also spawn very frequently, seeing as we're allowed to adjust the vehicle density, which means taxi RNG is kept at a minimum. I would be willing to do a race with him if wanted, seeing as we're on a very similar skill level. I hope to flip less cars than Jolzi.

DhrGRDhrGR Paper Mario: Sticker Star Any% 4:30:00 3DS EUR Link Pretty bad received game, speedrun routing makes this game very unforgiving due to the sticker system, but in general a fun speedrun to do. Has a few skips here and there, but most of the run is optimized movement and sticker / coin routing. I currently do not have any way to stream my 3DS so I would need to use someone else their 3DS capture card.... Please don't make me play this game again, its painful to do fast... People forced me to submit this, I swear!

UltimaOmega07UltimaOmega07 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Medallions, Stones and Trials 2:40:00 WiiVC JPN Link This is one of the most underappreciated OoT categories. The goal is to beat all child and adult dungeons, dispel the barrier in Ganon's castle and beat the game so you get to see most of the game. It's the middle point between any% that skips everything and 100% which does everything. Overall it's a very entertaining category to play and watch. As with anything OoT it is very broken with tons of cool glitches and skips. As of the time of submission I have 3 month's experience with the category but have been unable to stream attempts due to capture card issues.
btrimbtrim Castlevania: Rondo of Blood NG+ Maria 0:25:00 WiiVC JPN Link Awesome Castlevania game, awesome music, I don't know the Richter run well enough to offer it but the Maria run is fast and fun as well. Speedrunning it requires taking a lot of risks and earning only the most optimal items.
UltimaOmega07UltimaOmega07 Halo: Combat Evolved Legendary 1:45:00 PC Link First game of the Halo series. It is all about big tricks that skip huge sections of levels (such as Assault on the Control Room and Keyes) and difficult combat (f.e Truth & Reconciliation anf Two Betrayals. The game has gotten much more optimized since it was last ran at SGDQ 2014. Flood bumps were discovered which made the Library, regarded often as the worst level in the game, much faster and more interesting. New strategies were also implemented for Two Betrayals and Truth & Reconciliation which make for intense, risky and fast combat. Overall the game has gotten much faster and more optimized. It is also pretty marathon safe.

BlakeBatesBlakeBates Diddy Kong Racing 100% 2:05:00 N64 JPN Link Greetings, My name is Blake Bates and I am a Diddy Kong Racing speedrunner. I am interested in participating in the ESA marathon. There are a few people within the Diddy Kong Racing community who are interested in possibly participating in a race. At the moment my 100% Personal Best is not as good as other runners who are interested in the race; however, I have been practicing very hard while focusing on my education. Right now, being in the middle of a school term, my main focus is school. With that said, my current Personal Best does not reflect my skill level. It is a very outdated record due to the fact I have had little time to attempt 100% runs. My work ethic towards school will be replaced with Diddy Kong Racing as soon as my school term is over. I am currently only employed for 6 hours a week. This schedule will allow me to practice Diddy Kong Racing for multiple hours a day. I am capable of getting top tier times on majority of the individual levels, but have not had sufficient time to attempt to put it all together in a 100% run with my current skill level.
UltimaOmega07UltimaOmega07 Halo 2 Legendary 2:05:00 X360 EUR Link Fast paced speedrun with lots of tricks. In comparison to Halo CE which has big skips H2 has smaller tricks that get abused a lot. The main ones being sword flying and sword cancelling which let you move at a very high speed and skip parts of the levels. This is a challenging, punishing and an entertaining run.
PeteThePlayerPeteThePlayer Crash Bash 2 Player Any% 2:30:00 PS2 USA Link Co-op run with BetaM See his submission for more info.
GaëlGaël Final Fantasy Any% 0:15:00 NES JPN Link The run (only possible in japanese) uses save corruption and memory corruption by giving specific names to characters and walking up and down some stairs for a few minutes. This allow you to get a level 103 Thief and to reprogram one of the guard in Castle Cornelia to be Chaos, the final boss. A game mechanic will make Chaos scared of your lv103 Thief and make him run away from the battle, triggering the ending. A full run should less than 8 minutes but there's a ~25% to die against Chaos, a death there cost approximately 3.5 minutes, therefore an estimate of 15 is safer as it allows dying twice. I'm not sure if the run by itself would be a great watch, but I think it'll be a nice donation incentive for RoryExtraLife's FF1 PSX or PSP run.

oasizoasiz William Shatner's TekWar Any% 0:13:00 PC Link A build game done fast. Features photorealistic graphics and voice acting, along with live cinematics. Unlike lame games such as DooM, TekWar takes the player in to various locations ranging from underwater bases, industrial complexes to high-tech fortresses! ChrnoChrno An American Tail: Fievel Goes West any% 0:30:00 SNES USA Link Drawing and losing to this game in the mystery tournement sparked my interest in running this game again. Cute little snes platformer (which are normally quit boring). Can go sub-20 easy.
JolziJolzi Grand Theft Auto IV Glitch Showcase 0:30:00 PC Link In case my gta4 gay tony submission doesn't make it through the cut, I offer to show off the best glitches, speedstrats and stunts of GTA4 for the mainstory and both storyline DLCs. But even if my run gets accepted this would show off way more than you would see in it. The video is not the full content i would show on the marathon. It's just a small selection of glitches. This is more of a second stream submission.
MrsGizamalukeMrsGizamaluke Diddy Kong Racing 100% 2:05:00 N64 JPN Link Diddy Kong Racing is a favorite for many. It is the 6th best selling N64 game and has an unforgettable soundtrack. A speedrun of this game is often very impressive for the many people who have played this game, and is visually pleasing to watch. The wide variety of content in this kart racer is truly one-of-a-kind. Three different kinds of vehicles, four minigames, five*2 bosses, you name it! It would be fun to make this a race with some of the other DKR runners that are at ESA, but I can also do the run by myself if that would suit everyone better.
MrsGizamalukeMrsGizamaluke Diddy Kong Racing Any% 1:00:00 N64 JPN Link This category does have some cool glitches that casual runners think are amazing. It is purely based on RNG though, which is a bit unfortunate. I put a pretty high estimate on this one because there is a risk that I need to do a slower back-up strat (or that I have to do a slower route). I did this at ESA last year and I felt like the game was appreciated.
CerberusCerberus Metal Gear Solid 3 European Extreme Single Segment 1:40:00 PS3 EUR Link Me and VPP would like this to be race. I have just finished learning this game and will be doing my first runs shortly so apologies for linking VPP's video. As I did last year, you can expect almost daily runs of this game between now and the event to bring the time down so this should make for an interesting race. One mistake is all it would take to decide it, and we will both be going for Foxhound rank so the level of play will be high.
KennyMan666KennyMan666 Amazing Princess Sarah Vampire Princess New Game+ 0:45:00 X360 EUR Link A Castlevania-ish indie game where you can pick up the corpses of killed enemies and use them as projectiles. Different corpses behave in different ways, and this is the basis of a lot of secquence breaking through the stages as you have to find switches that open new paths, and using a corpse to hit a switch through a wall lets you skip quite a lot. Depsite being NG+, you'll notice I level up in the video, so I'm not max level. That's because the max level is something absurdly high in this game - don't even know WHAT it is. People have reported going past level 1000. The mode I'm playing is Vampire Princess, which is the final mode you unlock. She has a double jump (some others do too), enemies are stronger and - uniquely for Vampire Princess - enemies respawn. This is a good thing for some secquence breaks because it means that if you miss it, you can respawn the enemy you need. Vampire Princess is also the only character to get the true final boss. The video I've included ends with a crash, so it doesn't actually finish the game. But it's more than halfway through the final stage, and after the huge secquence break. It's not the first time I've had the game crash on me, I'll be hoping to get a video where I can actually complete the damn game without a crash soon enough, but deadline loomed here. I have some theories for how to prevent the crash, so experimenting will happen. The gameplay up until the crash was pretty good. Three deaths, but given that a lot of the game is charge into enemies with no regard for your mortal wellbeing, it's pretty easy to die and none of my deaths was from HP loss so there's that and none cost much time. Missed one minor time saver in Inferno Castle, hit all the important breaks on the first try. Even if the first one in Dark Dungeon was a mess so I probably didn't even save any time that time, lol.
