is switch lite viable

I have a switch lite and am wondering if handheld is the optimal way to play fast on switch lite or if a pro controller is better

I personally use joy-cons on a TV when playing odyssey because it is easier for me to do things like upwards and downwards cap throws. But for the most part its just preference. If you like playing in hand held than do that, but remember for runs you have to record them in some way. But if you like using a pro controller more than do that. But I'm not sure if the switch lite will let you use anything other than the attached joy-cons

i mean handheld would be better, but recording your runs would be kinda hard

If you can connect a pro controller to a switch lite, then that's definitely it. But DON'T spend a bunch of money on a pro controller if you don't already have one. Speedrunning with attached joycon's isn't the worst thing in the world, it's just going to be hard to record.

it boils down almost 100% to personal prefernece. For example, tyron likes to use the pro controller, but goryuya likes to use joycons, basically if you don't have big thumbs (like me) you should use joycons bc of the downthrow

everyone here is missing a huge factor: Motion. Motion controls save about 8 mins(comparing a friends no motion control any% to their normal any% pb). However, the large amount of motion controls you do in this game means that you have to be comfortable shaking your entire switch light. and that Is incredibly jank imo.

I mean it's really just rolling. You can still spinthrow by spinning the control stick and throwing cappy, kind of like a quick spin in the 3D zelda games. But yes, you will lose a lot of time if you don't do any motion controls. Probably not 8 minutes, but you can still realistically meet your goal time (obviously depending on what it is).
