102 Dalmatians. If you wait on the title screen for the 4th or 5th demo (Can't remember which one) you will get a demo that is of a level very far in the game. By exiting out of this demo and then pressing pause while the screen is fading to black, you can exit to the level select with you being that far into the game. I have disputed if this truly counts as any% because you aren't starting a new game. You are just using a game that was pre built into the code. But it was a losing battle and this meme of a category has been deemed the true any%

As more of a watcher I find this is where the beauty of different categories comes into it - members have already mentioned some pokemon and GTA runs, "How quickly can I finish the game?" is answered using all kinds of glitches/warps etc., but "How quickly can I finish the game without glitching/crashing/resetting" is more entertaining to me. It's a big wide world with room for both I reckon :-)

EDIT: Civ3 run rings a bell when looking at these games http://www.speedrun.com/Sid_Meiers_Civilization_III/full_game

The 100% is far more impressive, but I did this obligatory any% just for this thread, heh.

There's a specific beta track in Mario Kart DS (called Staff Roll) where the game basically doesn't know what to do and basically just ends the race after one frame. There's another track (Test Circle) which as the name implies is just a small circle. The record is 3.125 sec iirc.

Well, since the thread has been bumped and is more or less always on topic, The Adventures of Pinocchio any% is something to behold.

Little Wheel, a small Flash game from 2009, has a glitch where you skip the opening cutscene, and then somehow continue skipping all the screens of the game until you reach the end. I have no idea how it works, but if you figure it out you can "finish" the game in 1-2 seconds.

There's a glitch in mobility that allows you to beat any IL in 0 frames. However, in order to do it, you have to spend anywhere from 3-10 minutes setting up the glitch (depending on the size of the level) by repeatedly resetting the level over and over and over again. After that, you have to watch the level replay, and after all that time, you have to do a frame perfect reset, followed by a frame perfect long jump. If you mess up either frame perfect, you have to do the WHOLE THING OVER AGAIN.

I discovered this glitch when I first joined the site almost two years ago, this is one of the oldest videos on my channel, showcasing the trick. It isn't allowed on the leaderboards but I think it's funny.

In Stick RPG, the fastest completion of the game is to sleep for 15 days and get the title of "utter failure"

I know Far Cry 4 was mentioned, but Far Cry 5 is arguably worse tbh lol. You sit through an autoscroller and choose to just not arrest the guy, whereas arresting him leads you to the rest of the game.

Thankfully Far Cry 6 actually has a pretty dope any% run, you still have an early ending but it's completing the first island which is like 13% completion. It ends up being about 35 mins, and its pretty fun

Pokemon Red/Blue (and all Generation 1 cartridge games basically). You basically wrongwarp from your house to the hall of fame. Run done. It's stupid (and hilarious to watch when the game starts glitching out) :D https://www.speedrun.com/pkmnredblue/run/y2dxj3jz
