Hi everyone! New here. New to speedrunning, actually. I started speedrunning EB64 back in February because it was my all time favourite game, and I found my old N64 at my parents' house. When I poked around for what the world record times were, I was a bit discouraged to see the leaderboard so dead. I don't think there were any runs recorded in the past two years, and some of the categories were actually empty of runs. I decided to go ahead and keep trying for record times anyway, since I was still enjoying myself.

Recently, I started getting some runs that were actually worthy of the board, so I started recording my runs, and made an account. Now, I log in today and see that new records are being posted almost daily. New categories even! Super awesome to see! But it does make me wonder where all this renewed interest is coming from. What drew you to this game in particular, and why now after such a period of stagnation?

It's mostly because we now have 2 new active mods.

So possibly times that were submitted weren't actually put up.

Now, sometimes your run is accepted within a few hours, it's great!

Yeah Dj-Cat hit it on the head, we did have some people interested, but it would be awhile before the runs can get verified. The other thing was that the IL leaderboards didn't make sense, so we fixed that. You can find what we are planning on doing in the New moderator thread.

For me I always wanted to come back to the game at some point to improve my old records as I knew they could easily be lowered. Not just the times, but the video quality of those runs sucked too. After logging in one day to find Pancakes had done so to one of the records and we had an IL leaderboard that needed to be filled I was hooked and started runs the next day. Overall just pumped to be running against other people as I was on my own years ago when I set those old records.
