Hi, I'm playing this game from the original disc on PS3, but this category is missing. Would it be possible to add it in the future?

Hello! PS3 falls under PSN category.

If you look at the rules PSN does state Digital copy only, but I don't see why the disc wouldn't be accepted for it.

PS3 with disc should actually fall under PS. PS3 digital is PSN.

I think this is how it is managed also in the RE community.

My only argument for PS3 being under PSN is it is still just emulating the game (to my knowledge.) Under that assumption it should be identical to the PSN version should it not? I might be crazy in my thought process though. I don't really care where it goes, but it should have a category.

No matter which method of playing a PSX title is used with PS3 be it digital or physical they are going to be the same, tho it will be much slower then playing from an actual PSone.

In case of Dino Crisis 2 I think PS3 with disc or digital can be the same category, but this should be analized game per game. For instance, digital Resident Evil 3 runs on ps3 much slower than PS1 discs (just go see the WRs), the port was awful made. But I have digital DC 2 on my PS3 and I see no difference from when I used to play on PS1.

I would also add that, according to what we know right now, some platforms are slower than others despite them being in the same category (i.e.: PS1 is slower than PS2 because PS2 has fast disc). This implies that yes, for console category you can run with PS1, PS2 or PS3, but if you run on anything different from fast disc PS2 you're not going to be competitive.
It is not the biggest problem, but I think it's important to remember that any console is allowed, but not all of them are equally comptetitive and current leaderboards don't answer to this problem because it would mean having way more categories.

For me there is not problem to specify "PS3 (Real Disc)" under PS or PSN category.
Altough, it should be to specify under PS category.
Just like @Rei_LeoRei_Leo says, it's necessary to analyze any possible difference between physical disc and digital version on PS3. If there are.
Unfortunately I do not own a PS3 system, so I can't do any kind of comparison. For this... Voulunteers for testing are welcome. 🙂
@NazzarenoNazzareno About that, creating more categories is not properly the main problem.
True problem is trying to know how many runners can be interested to run a hypothetical mixed category "PS1 & PS3".
Because if this would mean to create an empty category... therefore it's better to keep unaltered or almost.

I have a PS3 where I play it often and I played it a lot on PS1 too as a kid. Personally I did not see any difference.

@If_And_WhileIf_And_While I would put some advices about what is faster and what as is slower anyways, so that new runners know exactly what they can do to perform best in a specific category instead of wasting a month of their lives on PS3 and then wandering why those pesky PSP times are twenty minutes lower. I would also write down the info about fast disc being essential or the need to update your PSP to get the fastest loading times (as @xtra2Ezxtra2Ez found out) for the same reason.
