I don't want to seem like a sore loser but this run >>>> https://www.speedrun.com/dino2/run/z5dkkdnm He did not showed anytime he was on PS3. No controller menu, no console menu. I also did not see the full stream in neither of his channels. So I really would like to know why the run was approved. |

That run was not performed on PS3 but on PSP. |

Oh, I saw PSN at first. But should not be the different devices separated then? Cause it is really unfair. |

PSTV is known to be generally slightly faster in terms of RTA and PS3 by far the worst in terms or RTA across PSN console. That may also be untrue, I don't want to be disrespectful to you or other PS3 runners in this board, but there is not a single PS3 run that can be considered competitive quality speaking in the DC2 leaderboard. I wish we had a top runner running both PS3 and PSP to give us a definite clue, but we don't have it at the moment. P.S. Some people think PS1 is slower than PS2 (fast disc load speed), however, for the same reason of the frame counting timing extrapolation, I personally believe you can achieve the same times with a PS1. Farmery kinda proved that theory using a PS1 and smashing all records in Dino Crisis 1. |

"@Rei_LeoRei_Leo I watched you run when I was interested in running the PSN Any% Hard category, and you cannot possibly think that your run and xtra2Ez are comparable in terms of quality." I know, by the time I made the run, there was not other Hard runs to watch, so I just improvised some tries fed only by my own experience with the game. And I really did not tried to better the time later cause Hard is really stressful to run and DC 2 is not a game where I'm hardcore at, I just love the game. Ty for clarifying it though, I will just remove my run. |

Then I don't understand either the point of the post or the conclusion. |

@Rei_LeoRei_Leo, I don't think you should delete your run. Every run matters and is a contribution to the community and the history of the game. Edit: the same would apply to PS3 with physical disc, which falls under PS category even though PS1 games notoriously suck on PS3 and despite fast disc on PS2 making it the dominant version and killing the competition of PS3 (and PS1. Let us not forget PS1). |

@NazzarenoNazzareno What is the proposal though? What should the moderators do more? |

My proposal is mentioned in the other thread: stating very clearly, for each category including multiple platforms, which ones are faster, in order to prevent new runners from wasting time grinding on the less competitive platforms if they can play on the more competitive. I'm perfectly aware of the 1000 categories problem, but this kind of thread keeps being opened because nobody outside of the ancient ones in the community knows about the differences between consoles. The same happened with the speed glitch on PC, when new comers would constantly complain about the game running at inconsistent speed while we all knew the reason and had to explain it over and over again. |

I can agree with that (assuming there is really a difference in terms of IGT), but this thread in particular is baseless, and the fact the runner deleted his runs proves the point. |

It was not the case but once they will not be separated I also will not drag this anymore. I just prefer to remove the run, that's all. |

It’s easier to just remove your run than work hard to improve. Good choice. |

@RapixOnGamingRapixOnGaming I just did a quick test of running to the Water Tower on PS3 with both physical and digital version. Both got an identical time of 1:48 which compared to PSP tests we did when testing the emulators was 1:31 (If & While) and Xtra did a test today and got 1:35. Compared to everything we allow (excluding PS1 as no one has tested it) PS3 is by far the slowest getting to the first save. I am under the assumption that is going to carry through the whole run. The reason Farmery could get competitive times in DC1 is that IGT pauses during door transitions. So even if one loaded it instantly and the other took an hour, IGT should remain identical. Assuming all other versions act the same as the PC version, IGT is always running excluding pause, and options. |

@KaladereKaladere Nice to have this finally tested. Thanks for dedicating the time. The result had not to be taken for granted in my opinion. Nobody fully knows the behaviour and frame counting during room and camera transitions. Anyways, what is left to decide is either to have PS3 separated (even if with less than an handful of PS3 runs in total) or, as Nazzareno mentioned, just stating somewhere that PS3 is allowed but with all caveats and disadvantages, so ultimately discouraging the use of it for speedrunning. Personally I'm for option number two. Yes it adds cost for the potential PS3 owners/runners, but not a massive one. If someone wants to speedrun using a disc buying a PS2 is needed for competitive times. If someone wants to speedrun using the digital PSN copy they need to buy a PSP/PSTV/Vita. If someone doesn't want to spend additional money on a retro console Emulators on PC are available in the board. Legacy for low hand PC, DuckStation for a little more than a potato PC. Plenty of options already available. |

@NazzarenoNazzareno "As I stated before, I think nothing is competitive against PSP..." This is absolutely not true. Creating more categories is not properly the main problem. So please, I ask nicely. Don't be repetitive, it's not helpful to anyone. |

You know, it's fine. I'm caring too much about a nuance, and there's no real reason for it. Nobody in the community gives a damn about these secondary consoles and I shouldn't either. New runners will come, ask about the same two questions, get the same two answers and that's it. It's not my problem and I'm sick of hitting a rubber wall and be the silly dude every time I try to propose something. The conversation is not really worth my time, as it's not worth anybody else's time. |

I think there is just a bit of misunderstanding. If I'm correct with "I'm caring too much about a nuance" Nazzareno just means stating clearly somewhere (maybe in the rules) what are the best console to use for runners that aim for competitive times and WRs as well as what model of every console is best. @If_And_WhileIf_And_While I don't think Nazzareno is pushing to have a PS1 or PS3 category. |

@RapixOnGamingRapixOnGaming yes, that's all I was proposing. Of course PS1 and PS3 categories are impractical and an overkill. |
