So, I'm looking to run a solo any % with a new character.
But because of the vendors being part of the world, and using the vault can give you an exotic that others players may not have, I propose a category of starting a new character and running the entire game without transferring equipment from the vault and buying anything form the vendors.
Any feedback back would be greatly appreciated.
sounds like a great idea, I will be running this game more than the first, so I might run it if it becomes a category, but why not buy from venders? the items don't give too much of an advantage in gameplay
It will probably be the same rules as the old any%, I assume tokens will be used the same as the old any% with glimmer. Which basically means that you should never use more tokens than what you gain in the run.
Well, tokens, glimmer, legendary shards, and reputation for the vendors is carried over from all characters.
So I thought of this because that way anybody can pick up the game and run it.
You don't have to worry about zeroing out the rep from a vendor before turning in emblems, I also say fusing should be a no go either for the same reason that my Alt's will have tons of shards.
As far as the gear from vendors, your right in that they don't mean much, for leveling your power. But with mostly maxed out glimmer all the time I can make sure my power is near top the entire run instead of having to fight for it. And I think having to fight for it would be better to run and watch.
I have run the NG categories all the time in D1, and you are only allowed to use things you acquire during your run within the run. You may not access your vault and may only get items that you obtain while running through the game. The same goes for glimmer, shards, etc. Buying gear from vendors was allowed so long as you obtained all of the glimmer to purchase said gear within the run. Hence, you should keep track of your glimmer before you start so that you know how much you have to spend at all times. Hopefully this helps.
Thanks OG! Yeah it does help. So, the same could be said of any Mods that we pick up too. Weapons and armor made sense as it gives you stuff at the end of missions and random drops.
The reason I was thinking of not using the vendor or whatever I suppose so it would require some "Math" along the way and more work on verification side, which would be annoying at worst.
I guess I was just trying streamline it as much as possible so you could just make a New Game and Go. But, NOT using resources you obtain during the run, aka glimmer, for simplicity sake could ham string your run.
Thanks again!
(EDIT)
Clan Banners increase glimmer and drop rates (depending on the level of the clan) So, you have to talk to Hawthorne to pick it up, so I propose no Banner either.
Iirc clan banners are only obtainable at level 20 and after beating the campaign. Making it not a problem for any%
Submitted my run. Should be able to cut 40 minutes by working out an actual route knowing how high of a level you need to be before leaving a plant ahead of time.
I'm thinking 7 before you hit Titan. Perhaps 8-10 On Nessus
Much love, going to take a nap and look at my video later
Greetings Guardians,
I have quite a bit of information to share with everyone, from formalizing new categories, upcoming mod meetings, and GDQ updates. But first, we decided to start using the News section on Speedrun.com (SRC) in conjunction with our Announcements page on our Discord. This will be
