Some things I should've posted here a year ago:
At the Landsmeet, Loghain won't die from damage over time or the Inferno, but an auto-attack once he's at seemingly 1 HP will help:
Fastest way I've found so far to do Fort Drakon Floor 1 (do the Sten-glitch to get to the middle of the room without triggering the shades): If something goes wrong like tripping at the trap I will however switch to the safer version with Fireball first, as seen in my PB. Also make sure you go into Fort Drakon with pretty much full hp. Casting Drain Life at the end of the fight before will do that.
I also added my practice saves for almost probably every major point in the game to the resource page.
Nice, yeah good resources that are the biggest updates to the route since I made the tutorial. I think Tower of Ishal floor 2 is slightly different as well?
With the Inferno, yeah. Apart from that I can't think of any real changes. Maybe going oob in the 2nd Denerim random event? I think your tutorial might still do the fight there.
i think i figured that out before agdq so its probably in tutorial but maybe not. Also being able to mash 1 to get through slaver dialogue in alienage, i think i found that out like right after the tutorial. Also going back to camp in denerim to avoid random encounters in denerim isn't in (although thats just a safer strat rather than a faster one, given optimal circumstances).
I still want to see if I can find a way to pull off the denerim gates skip in a run but it seems really hard considering how sten kinda just runs around randomly to enemies, and getting a conversation in with him right at the start before entering combat seems pretty much impossible.
if you manage to trigger the conversation glitch there (which is pretty hard for the above mentioned reasons) it pushes you directly to the point in the end of gates conversation with riordan where he responds to your choice of who you picked for your party going forwards (probably because that dialogue is just coded to popup after you go through a party select screen on that map). After that, just need to run over to the map transition and get out of combat long enough to press it.
Holy cow, that saves some big time, ill probably use my next day streaming to try and get this somewhat consistent (probably tactic adjustment) and if not, I'm going to look at picking up leliana and what the actual time gained / lost is from all actions
It's also just fun to have the soldiers yelling 'Kill those Godless bastards' when the darkspawn are just there... But I guess funny stuff was never sth to consider ;)
i'm not sure what the reasoning would be for wanting leliana over sten. the thing i linked from uses her basically as a substitute for sten because the guy who found it (same guy who did old segmented run) hadn't been skipping the joining (and thus didn't have anyone to picklock stens cage).
it was based off of your comment that sten wanders off very quickly, so first ill just try with sten, no adjustments, then ill tamper with his tactics a bit just to get him to stand still for a second.
Only if that doesnt work id try all the things with leliana, since it obviously worked with her before.
i talked to the guy who found that and said it took him like 100 tries to pull it off so he could record that video.
There's two things i can think of to try: equip him with a bow and maybe he wont into combat so fast? Other than that maybe spam quicksave key as you are loading in, quickload, spam pause key, and then try to setup the conversation.
its not so much the having him stand still, its the 'spawn in the level as a party' that is the problem
