I don't think any speedrun legal emulator would have any problem streaming 480p on any modern PC/

Damn, amazing time! Looking forward to more crazy any% runs, lol. I really do think you should try to use the faster fire bar cycle, it's hard but you can definitely make it pretty consistent with practice. After around half an hour I managed to get probably 3/4 consistency (starting from the spawn point in the previous room), it's a lot worse in runs but I'm getting there. With a really good run + that cycle I wouldn't be surprised to see a 2:34 soon.

Also, while on the topic of insane runs:

Got this yesterday, was almost perfect the entire time, and I didn't do fast fire bar cycle. That strat probably cuts over a second so I think 34 or even 33 is feasible. I've had several runs with the fast fire bar cycle but they all died in crows.

I also tied your 233 but the video quality was kinda bad and the run kinda sucked lol, should get a way better run within a few weeks though.

Damn, that's crazy. I always found it a lot harder to go OOB when doing small jumps though, are you having success with it? (apart from that crazy run ofc lol)

Yeah it took a couple weeks of on and off effort. Nowhere near as hard as I expected actually, there are only about 3 rooms that really gave me trouble (the spinning fire bars room where you go down then up, the room after that, and the very last room). The rest of the rooms have surprisingly easy setups and this game's audio cues can give you a lot more info than you'd expect, which is why I think if I get good at those 3 rooms sub 5 may actually be viable.

Also on the original topic on this thread: I just got this.

This is the only time I've ever done this (got OOOB while actually timing it).

Damn, look forward to seeing your new record. Might have to actually attempt the strat I used in my blindfolded run now! I haven't tried TASing that shortcut yet, since I haven't been able to get hourglass working. Which rooms have you tried dropping down into? Some of them don't lead to any rooms or to another overworld room, but I've dropped into the tunnel before jungle before.

Jesus not sure how I missed THAT many cups when initially adding the ILs. I'll fix it up in a bit.

Also, I'm going to add some more ILs. Please tell me if I miss any.

I'm not even sure it's worth grinding for wrs on src if you still have low level cars, if you spend a few weeks grinding up your rally cars or supercars and you guys will notice huge differences.

I think it should be fine, Not like you're pausing the timer and actually making progress.

In my experience poltergust isn't that great to use as a beginner. Or at least I never found it beneficial when I tried it. You're better off using egg and db for most tracks and bls for tracks like f8c and yf.

It really depends on the track, your skill level and what you're trying to accomplish tbh, db is good for tight turns, offroad and easy prb, but is slow overall, egg is a bit faster but slightly worse offroad and takes turns a bit wider, also easy to prb with though, BLS is really fast but hard to use well (incredibly hard to prb, don't even bother until you git gud), and polt is somewhere in between egg and BLS. Some tracks use different karts as well, particularly for flaps, but those 4 are the big ones.

Oh also new any% no OOB strat at 17:40, it's really hard, especially if you have to do it deathless, but I think it's slightly faster. Probably not worth doing till like 2:34 lol

Yep, it's been done. This is what happens when I get bored of main categories. Sub 10 is possible, sub 5 is the dream. (not 100% sure if it'll be humanly possible but it'll be very insane to get)

I don't think that's even faster, you have to slow down anyway to get above the next one and by the time you've done that it's lost about as much time as waiting at the start. I've gone underneath a couple of times and I always seem to go past the 2nd thing at around the same height.

Oh also, it's possible to get underneath the pillar with the 2 fire bars on the right of the thumbnail with a pixel perfect-ish entry and frame perfect mashing. I've made it around 75% of the way past it but it's incredibly hard, probably not possible RTA.

Might as well post this here, thought it was pretty cool. Realised it was possible after rewatching the 100% TAS.

Thread: GG to mods that verify

Started by: DarpeyDarpey

"I understand it's frustrating for a lot of people waiting on their runs to be verified, but also you need to understand that this site isn't that great. Have any of you seen that "under pressure" message? Whenever any of us mods try to go in the queue to verify runs, it takes a long time to load, or flatout gives us an error message. To be honest, it's very frustrating because we know we have a lot of runs in the queue and we try to get to them. If the site ran smoother, we wouldn't have this issue"

This is such a shitty excuse, I experience problems with this site probably less that 1/50 times I visit it. It's nowhere near as bad as people say it is. I'm well aware that mods do stuff behind the scenes but I seriously doubt all the time they have for mod stuff is going towards discussing rule changes for the 5 categories on this leaderboard or discussing different methods of verification.

If we switch to IGT we can just keep the times with insufficient proof as RTA, which is fine because the load times of the RTA are automatically used as a penalty for not having proof.
