PC 100% Overworld Routing and Shop guide
Updated 7 years ago by eggmanface

One of the challenging aspects of getting into 100% runs is working out questions like:

How many crystals do I need to collect? When should I visit the shop? Which items do I need for which level? Is there an order I should do the levels in?

This is the outline I worked out in an attempt to answer the above questions. Feedback is more than welcome - I'd love to know if the route can be improved! The route attempts to minimise overworld travel and shop visits.

I haven't added in any notes for specific routing and tips within levels. Hope this helps someone get started in 100% :)

  1. Sailor Village

--> Cut through the village using the river

1.1 Boat Race Items needed = none Crystals gained = 100 Crystals balance at end of level = 100

1.2 Springs Kid / Sandwich Items needed = none Crystals gained = MINIMUM 10 (easily done, no crates required) Crystals balance at end of level = 110

1.3 "Simon Says" game Gives you an extra Heart Pot at a time cost of ~10-15 seconds. Probably worth it? At the very least, it will give you an extra heart going into Roger Red Ant (World 2) and Firefighter (World 3).

1.4 Trampoline Kid Crystals Gained = 100 Crystal Balance = 210

1.5 SHOP #1 Purchase 1x Robo, 4x Blue Gummi = 210 Crystals total Crystal Balance = 0

1.6 Mines Items needed = 1x Blue Gummi Crystals Gained = at least 50 (the treasure chests give you 10 crystals each)

1.7 Rescue Gobbo from a Cage Items needed = 1x Blue Gummi

--> Cut back through the village using the river

1.8 Thief Items needed = 2x Blue Gummi, 1x Robo (note - you can use a Blue Gummi on the Green Gummi pad in this level, it does the job)

1.9 Soveena the Squid (miniboss) Crystals Gained = 50

1.10 Cannon Boat Keith (boss)

1.11 Sailor Jigsaw Piece

Minimum Crystal Balance at end of Sailor Village = 220 (I haven't counted this exactly, but from levels 1.6 to 1.11 I find collecting crystals along the normal path easily meets this target without the need for breaking crates or going too far out of your way).

  1. Cossack Village

2.1 SHOP #2 Purchase 2x Robo, 1x Blue Gummi, 1x Purple Gummi = 220 crystals (if you have any left over, you can buy extra Robos as a safety net - only a one or two second loss for a big insurance policy!)

2.2 Ice Block / Ice Cliffs Items needed = 1x Robo, 1x Purple Gummi

2.3 Roger Red Ant Items needed = 1x Robo

2.4 Train Items needed = 1x Blue Gummi

2.5 Flavio (miniboss) Crystals Gained = 100

2.6 Snowball Items needed = none

2.7 Hangglider Items needed = none Crystals Gained = 100

2.8 Lava Lamp Larry's (boss) Crystals Gained = 100

2.9 Cossack Jigsaw Piece

Minimum Crystal Balance = 430 at end of level 2.9 (meaning you'll need to pick up 130 crystals between levels 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.6, 2.9. Another option is picking up extra crystals in Sailor Village. All of 1.6-1.11 (except for Soveena) give easy crystals).

  1. Caveman Village

3.1 SHOP #3 Purchase 5x Robo, 3x Blue Gummi, 1x Green Gummi = 430 crystals

3.2 Wheels #1 (the outside one) Items needed = 1x Blue Gummi

3.3 Wheels #2 (the one in the mine) Items needed = 1x Robo, 1x Green Gummi

3.4 Car Race

3.5 Firefighter Items needed = 1x Robo, 1x Blue Gummi

3.6 Mammoth Items needed = 1x Robo

3.7 Caveman Jigsaw Piece

3.8 Venus Fly Trap (miniboss)

3.9 Dino (boss)

  1. Inca Village

4.1 Save the Babies Items needed = 1x Robo

4.2 Waterfall Items needed = 1x Robo, 1x Blue Gummi

  1. Dante fight #1, Puzzle Dungeon, Goo Tower, Dante fight #2

  2. Inca Jigsaw Piece

  3. Secret Villages
