Conan Exiles Any% Speedrun Route [Civilized Difficulty] (2021) by LobosJr (twitch.tv/lobosjr)
Updated 3 years ago by Lobosjr

Summary:

Conan Exiles Any% is defined as reaching the "end" by acquiring the 6 artifacts required to craft The Keystone and using it to remove your slave bracelet, thus allowing you to escape the Exiled Land. Civilized difficulty prevents you from dropping equipment on death, which allows for easier deathwarps and a lot of time saved.

This route is based around acquiring an early legendary weapon via soloing a quick-to-reach world boss (crocodile). It now hinges on acquiring a 2-handed Sword or Mace (2H Sword being best DPS, according to our testing). You used to have to be level 60 to open legendary chests, but there is no restriction in my testing. Could be from a recent update (Isle of Siptah?) or Civilized difficulty. The route then heads straight to each required fight, using bed/bedroll for death warps. Attribute leveling could vary depending on runners choice. Strength doesn't seem super worth unless you can get to the 2nd perk for 15% dmg increase on sundered/bleeding targets. Agility to first perk is probably the first to take. Vitality perk 2 reduces weather effects; unsure on how necessary it is at this point. Grit is ok, but the good perk is at the 2nd node, so depending on what else you're leveling, you may not reach it.

Throughout the run, you should be aware that a lot of experience will come from completing journey steps.

Here's a video of a completed run for reference:

  1. Kick (ctrl), dodge cancel the kick (alt), jump on the lore tablet right near you, read tablet. (All for journey steps)

  2. Head in the direction of the crocodile world boss. While running in the desert, pick up Stone x5 Branch x15 As much Fiber as you can

Eat bugs for journey step

  1. While running the long stretch from desert to river area, hit NUMPAD to auto-run and open your inventory to craft: Coarse Handwraps Stone Pick

Unlock Warrior feat.

  1. Once you reach the upper cliff area, grab 45 stone, 7 branches, and up to 60 fiber (minimum of 45)
  2. Slide down the cliff near the small enemy camp. Store bugs or seeds in enemy camp box for xp? and run straight north to the water. Pick up any Aloe you see on the way (optional: heals)
  3. Drink water for XP. At level 6 > unlock Skirmisher feat (for stone daggers) and Bedshaper under Survival. You may need more XP, kill a croc or shellback if necessary. (XP tip: finishing attack combo with a heavy attack is a journey step; applying sunder/bleed is a journey step)
  4. While swimming across river, craft 13 Twine and a fiber bedroll (you may need to collect more materials across the river).
  5. Craft stone daggers, stone sword (optional?), and stone hatchet. Stone sword is for weaving in heavy attacks while bleed is at max stacks. Once all is crafted, you can queue up as many Aloe Extract potions as you can.
  6. Run to the crocodile world boss; be careful of aggroing small crocs along the way. Kill boss croc with dagger heavy attacks for bleed & stone sword heavy attacks.

Unoptimized video up to this point here:

  1. Use hatchet on boss croc for Skeleton Key. Swim over to and grab legendary chest. If it's not a 2H Mace/Sword, unfortunately reset
  2. Run toward Gallaman's Tomb. Gather Aloe along the way and queue up potions to craft.
  3. Place bedroll outside Gallaman's Tomb (has to be pretty far out from the entrance. Dump all attribute points into Agility up to first perk, then Vitality or Strength
  4. Small crocs should take ~3 hits to kill w/ legendary damage. Strats for boss croc are roughly the same as before, but much easier. You could just do straight up weapon hits or stack bleed to 20 first (may not be worth).
  5. Hit boss with hatchet to get the Jagged Scourgestone and Remove Bracelet from the menu for deathwarp.
  6. Leave bedroll here. Collect 20 hide from deer nearby (or have it collected before this point). 40 wood is 2 trees. Craft a full bed. Can also make a Campfire here and cook the meat from the deer (~10-12 should last the whole run)
  7. Begin the long trek Northeast up to The Passage. Placed full bed somewhere along the river as your warp point back to Sandswept Ruins. There's a stubby peninsula west of a large island I usually drop this off at.
  8. Make the long journey up to The Passage. Spitting spiders are annoying, but alternating strafe left/right every ~1 second does well to avoid them hitting you with crippling poison.
  9. Drop down in The Passage cave and head to the opposite side. Kill the Sand Reaper Hive Queen. My strat is: Stand in front of its face with daggers out. As soon as it begins an attack, hit CTRL to backflip away. If it did an arm attack, immediately run in and hit twice with dagger heavy attack. If it is winding up a tail attack, retreat a bit and sidestep to avoid the incoming breath. Watch out for small spiders during the fight!
  10. Use hatchet on the queen to get Broken Scourgestone. Backtrack out of the cave (left side has easiest climbing path afaik) and begin running east to Buccaneer Bay.
  11. There are two options for the Shattered Scourgestone in Buccaneer Bay; my choice is Waverunner at the top of Jamilla's Liberty. I run past everything and jump to a rock near Captain's Quarters to de-aggro any chasers. Then there is a solo pull followed by the named NPC and one other. Easy kills with a legendary weap. Loot the Shattered Scourgestone and jump off south into the water.

Note: If you see Dye, pick it up and dye some gear for a Journey Step. Same for food (Eat a Filling Meal) or an Orb (Throw an Orb). If you see a Gaseous Orb, take it as they are very good DPS, but a very RNG heavy drop.

  1. Head straight for the Palace of the Witch Queen.
  2. Witch Queen Fight: My strategy is to attack the statue guardian's right leg (left side facing him) until he does a stomp. At that point, I roll out, wait for his stomp to land, then rush in and do ~3 heavy attacks on the stomp leg. Toggle the weapon off to cancel the recovery animation and backstep until he stomps again. He should keep stomping in this manner without you having to dodge and use stamina. If you're getting hit, do one attack less or add in a light instead of a heavy. If he's not stomping, you probably have time to add in one more hit. After the first dies, you can stand in the middle of the room to avoid all the beams. With good execution, it should be possible to kill the 2nd guardian before the Witch Queen shows up, but it is tight. If you aren't, you can just avoid the statue until the queen shows up (running back and forth across the room). Once the queen shows up, you'll want to get in a pattern of starting from one side of the room, running past both, letting the queen come to you. Sprint past her a bit and she should do a leap > single attack or just a regular attack (if you're close, she'll continue the combo). After you see her finish one of these attacks, run in and do a full light combo (4 hits) with legendary weap. You can also apply bleed, but I think straight-up weapon damage is just as fast or faster. After one cycle of hits, the statue should be walking toward you around middle of the room. Just spring away and through his legs to the other side and wait for queen. Rinse & repeat until she is dead.
  3. Loot the Mask of the Witch Queen (Artifact #1) and Remove Bracelet to deathwarp. Return to BED. (not bedroll)
  4. PICKUP your bed (hold E > return to inventory) and run to Sandswept Ruins in the Southeast and trade your Scourgestones for the Heart of the Sands. Remove bracelet and warp to your Bedroll.
  5. PICKUP your bedroll, and run North to The Sinkhole. Place Bed at The Sinkhole edge.
  6. Follow this guide for defeating the Undead Dragon: NOTE Your entry point into the Sinkhole can be even easier. From the southeast side of the hole, you can drop in and avoid aggroing any skeletons. Just beware of Undead Hyenas before you drop in.
  7. Use Stone Pick on the Undead Dragon to loot the Star of the Champion and then Remove Bracelet to death warp up to the bed.
  8. Pick up bed and run all the way to Chaosmouth (following the river is an easy guide, then branch west toward Chaosmouth once you're up north)
  9. Climb up to the west side of the Chaosmouth bridge/structure. I place a bed right after a group of iron ore deposits
  10. From here, run north & west up to around Bridge of the Betrayer. Head Northwest up into mountain area and drop bedroll.
  11. Run Southwest past/through Mounds of the Dead and run to the Barrow King. You'll need Demon Blood to open the door (should have some from the Undead Dragon)
  12. This boss is very easy to cheese by jumping to the back of the room and abusing his ai and inability to path. He also does little damage, so it's reasonable to just stand toe-to-toe with him and whittle him down. If you need to heal, you could jump to the safe spot, heal, and continue
  13. Use Pick on the Barrow King and Remove Bracelet to warp back to the BEDROLL
  14. Pick up the Bedroll and run towards Dragonmouth. Along the way, you can run past a camp of Ymir giants and there are Ice deposits on the left side. Grab ~20-30 Ice. Place your bedroll before the Dragonmouth entrance (it'll need to be a bit far out)
  15. Enter the Volcano through Dragonmouth. Run the path into the Well of Skelos (you'll need to use ice every 90s or so)
  16. From the entrance, head towards the forge and keep right. You can jump down and slide off of a broken bridge to skip the entire area. Carefully jump across the narrow lava rivers and climb back up and you'll be right in front of the boss.
  17. The Degenerate is a very straightforward fight with a 2H weapon. Simply position yourself so all the illusions group up into a pile, and use heavy/wide sweeping attacks to cleave them all down. Heal inbetween waves. The Degenerate himself is an easy fight.
  18. Loot the Trapezohedron off of the boss and Remove Bracelet to warp back to the BEDROLL.
  19. (Optional) Pick up Bedroll for safety strats. Run to the Black Keep and slide down to the entrance.
  20. Run through the Black Keep, pick up the Ancient Key for the boss' door, and run to the boss room. If you're lucky, you won't have to attack anything.
  21. Kinscourge boss fight: I try to keep ranged and wait for him to do one of three attacks. He'll either do a ranged dash forward, an overhead slam with a shockwave, or he'll do an aoe explosion. The AOE explosion is actually very easy to dodge consistently, but it might take some practice. While he's charging up the AOE, I usually do 2 heavy attacks while I wait to dodge. The other two attacks, you can just sidestep/sprint around to his side or back and hit 2 or 3 times. Be sure to get out quickly so he doesn't do close range combos.
  22. Use Pick on Kinscourge to loot the Tears of Two Races and Remove Bracelet to warp to BED.
  23. Now just climb up Chaosmouth and head to the altar.
  24. Combine all 6 artifacts (Heart of the Sands, Tears of Two Races, The Shining Trapezohedron, Star of the Champion, Mask of the Witch Queen, and Diadem of the Giant-Kings) by placing them into the Chaosmouth altar.
  25. The Keystone will appear once all 6 artifacts are placed inside. Simply use the Keystone, accept the prompts, and GG

Game Entered for Summer Games Done Quick

I just submitted a game entry for Summer Games Done Quick. I'll be running the Any% Custom New Game category for the event. I am hoping that it gets accepted. It'll be a world premier of our small little community! In the meantime, I will be hard at work taking the time down from a 1:22 down to a 1:
