Thread: Batman Return to Arkham Arkham City Category

There are two main problems with removal of loading times for the multi-platform categories.

A ) What constitutes 'loading' has not yet been defined, and would need to be defined for load removal possibilities (ex. Is going through a door 'loading'? Is doing a checkpoint restart from the menu considered 'loading'? Is wait for the ability to skip a loading cutscene 'loading?') This definition, while perhaps not difficult to make, would need to be agreed upon by at least a majority of the current speedrunning community (also those who would plan to submit load-less run times but do not currently have times submitted).

B ) How would these loading times be removed from runs? As Feanorus already mentioned, the only way to remove these loading times would be for every runner to record a local file, then manually count the frames that are from loading, then remove these from the final time. Then, to verify that the submitted runs aren't incorrect, a moderator would have to do the same thing to double check (considering there are still runs submitted often that can't get the real time correct, this is very possible to happen with something so precisely measured as frame-by-frame loading). This all is way easier said than done, since the runner + moderator would need to watch the entire run then stop the video and do the frame analysis when necessary.

B` ) This would need to be done with all PC runs as well, since PC still loses time to loading, just considerably less over the course of the run.

Considering this undertaking necessary to remove load times, we need to weigh this against the benefit it would serve this community. If we do this for the glitchless community, every run that has been submitted would need this same frame analysis and removal. In addition, the point about loading is moot at the time of this posting. because there are no submitted runs that lose placement due to loading times. If/once this happens (ex. Someone should have beaten the WR due to skill and execution, but doesn't because their loading times are longer than their timesave), then we may have this discussion again and consider defining loading times for removal.

Please reread the original post: Return to Arkham runs will be posted on the same leaderboard as the original games for the time being. If you'd like to post a run please do it on the appropriate game page.

Hey guys, we've decided we will be allowing Return to Arkham runs on the same leaderboards as the previous versions of the games, since there don't seem to be any differences other than loading times and running framerates. If you'd like to submit a Return to Arkham run, go ahead and select PS4/Xbox One (whichever you're playing on) as your platform.

Sorry for a necro, but I'm having a similar problem and I didn't think I should make a new topic. I'm also not able to get the QR message ("I am not the first etc."), even though I went and got Good Listener earlier today and I already had QR Reader from my first playthrough. No matter which or how many QR codes I scanned, I couldn't get that message. So with nothing working, I though I'd reset the QR Reader achievment with Steam Achievement Manager and just get it again, but it gave it to me upon restarting the game, so I don't quite know what to do.

EDIT: Theos helped me get it, turns out I just needed it on my current save file 😕 what a dummy I am
