why does timing start early for the puzzle rush category
2 years ago

in the puzzle rush category it is stated that timing starts the first frame you see "GO!" on your screen, but you clearly can't make any pieces move until it fades away. So should the timing start the first frame "GO!" disappears?

Virginia, USA

The run usually starts as soon as the first input is possible or the run is started. In this case, the run is started when you press the start button. However, it would be unfair to have the first 3 seconds of the run not be doing anything. Therefore, it starts at the GO. In addition, It is hard to see exactly when the first input (first move played) is possible to be made.

New Bot Categories for non-premium users

By request, the mods have added 2 categories of computer bot speedruns that don't require a chess.com premium membership. We hope this addition allows more runners to participate in the bot speedruns. Make sure you check the rules for this category to ensure you are playing against the right bots. T
