Hi there! Another wave of CE submissions has been processed. Runs of new categories will not be verified for 48 hours. If you'd like to submit more categories, here are the relevant links:

  1. BnARB/All Red Bny: rejected — this category is loosely defined as Bny% while collecting berries up to each cassette. unfortunately, we were unable to come up with a ruleset for this category that avoided being either subjective, arbitrary, or obtuse. since some fullgame berry categories were recently added, we'll give this one some more time and may revisit it at a future date.

  2. Tape ILs: rejected — while some of these "ILs" are frequently run as practice for any%, there was not sufficient demonstrated interest. additionally, tape ILs are already loosely covered by All Chapters ILs on the main boards.

  3. Any% No B-Sides: rejected — not dissimilar enough from standard Any% to warrant its own board, especially since a substantial portion of all any% submissions would qualify as using this route.

  4. 1-Up in Four Chapters: accepted — using cheat mode, obtain a 1-Up in four separate chapters. timing ends after final RTM, be sure to show final time and version for verification purposes (either by going to Epilogue, or the journal and Main Menu). added under Misc.

  5. All Cassettes Cheat Mode: accepted — using cheat mode, collect all 8 cassettes. timing ends on final RTM, same verification requirements as above. added under Misc.

  6. City IL x10: accepted — enter the Cheat Code & complete City A-Side 10 times consecutively. added under Misc. — submitted as "IL Clear x10" with sub-categories, we are only accepting City at this time. if other levels receive enough interest, additional sub-categories can be added at a later date.

The first wave of Category Extension submissions has been processed—thanks for all the ideas! We added 3 new categories from the 6 distinct submissions sent in. The boards on the CE page have been re-ordered to accomodate these new additions, and if you'd like to submit more categories, here are the relevant links:

Runs will not be verified for the 72 hours following this announcement. With all that out of the way, here's the submission results:

  1. All Blue Hearts: rejected — this category was deemed too similar to All A-Sides, with the only differences being 5-7a hearts

  2. True Pure Any%: rejected — this category has little lasting value (TAS has already been tied RTA), and due to its length and simplicity there are issues with determining the legitimacy of submissions

  3. Berry Sampler: accepted — using cheat mode, collect one berry from each checkpoint that has any; visit epilogue for verification. (Submitted as "One Berry Per Checkpoint")

  4. Prologue: accepted — beat prologue from a new file. timed by showing the journal after completion; you must then immediately show the main menu for version number — note: this will not be added to the Main boards because it uses the file timer, and would also generate 3 dead boards

  5. Epilogue Pies: accepted (adapted from VRB and Good Enough Pie submissions) — unlock epilogue with enough berries to receive a pie screen different from the default one. six sub-categories have been added: cheat mode/no cheat mode versions of 20, 50, & 90 berries. (150 berries seemed too similar to ARB). — we deemed the 50 berry run close enough to VRB to hopefully capture the interest of those who played VRB, while this structure allowed for more intermediate berry runs to try out. the 20 berry boards stand to be deleted due to their similarity to Any% and Berry Sampler. if you'd like them to stick around, get people to play them

We've got a bunch of changes regarding the Category Extensions board to announce, so without any further ado, here they are:

  1. Any% NPR will be deleted. The category was initally created as a home for menu storage, but over its three year lifespan, only 3 non-obsolete runs use that tech—all of which are slower than each runners' any% pb. deletion will occur once runs are archived on kivov's unofficial CE sheet (pinned in #speedrun_general).

  2. Pre-DLC categories have been combined into one category, with sub-categories for All Chapters, 100%, and 200 Berries. this change reduces clutter in the misc tab of CE. since these boards are functionally archives that receive no new submissions, this merge seemed warranted. Merging Variant runs into a "Variant Runs" umbrella category was also discussed, but since the runs are so unique and have sub-categories of their own, we decided not to for now.

  3. All Cassettes has been moved to the main boards! All Cassettes features similar routing choices to All Hearts, where the player returns to map out of certain levels after obtaining specific collectibles. Additionally, the journal tracks Cassettes in much the same way as Hearts, so this category was deemed fundamental enough to earn a position on the primary boards. Moving Bny% was also proposed due to its popularity, but since its rules are a direct extension of Any%, it will remain on CE.

  4. 202 Berries has been moved to Category Extensions. While fairly unobtrusive in its previous Misc placement, it was deemed to fit the content of CE more closely and was moved accordingly.

  5. Finally, we have made a permanent submission form to suggest new Category Extensions, with a spreadsheet of approved and denied submissions. Please be sure to read all info on the form before submitting.
