Regarding Sand Pit

I felt that an in depth explanation into the ruling on Sand Pit would be good for future-proofing the board. (I won't be around forever.) Sand Pit runs that are not played on Switch are not currently valid due, in part, to a lack of information. It is unknown to what degree the challenge has been changed to accommodate playability on other platforms. The aspect ratio is different, but if that were the only difference, then it would be silly to ban file-ripped runs. Things such as enemy movement, collision, and interactions aren't well-documented, so it's reasonable to presume that they could be different as well. Of course, if the differences are subtle and insignificant, then there would be no reason to disallow file-ripping. However, the loading of Sand Pit into other platforms requires modification of the game files, which isn't allowed under standard ruling. There was an idea to add PC as a subcategory to allow for non-Switch runs, but there isn't a demand or a need for such a thing.

So, until the challenge has proven to be, more or less, functionally identical to the Switch port on other versions, the ruling will stand.

And a note for visitors: The ranking numbers shown (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) do not reflect the actual standings out of "the whole world"—this game predates speedrun.com itself and so the leaderboard largely only contains runs that were performed, recorded, and submitted to the site after the creation
