About the 6-1 skip (and general Out of bounds thread)

I've tested around with the dropskip in chapter 6-1, and managed to improve greatly upon it.

Klemmy1 thought he had to go back to activate the trigger, in order to be able to progress through the thunderstorm, but it turns out it's even more advantageous to not do that.

Link to the skip:

What i do here is i use the double crouch to vault over an invisible wall in the place where thunder leaks through. This takes you to the elevator room, where normally there would be a fight, but since you didn't hit the trigger earlier, it's now empty. You can then enter the empty elevator shaft, and sorta mush to the back corner, wher you have to double crouch again to drop down. it's important here to use the slide to go to the back wall of the shaft, so that when it opens up to the floor below you can slide onto the ground, which completes the skip.

The time for the entire level is now about 1.30, even less so if everything done perfectly, half of the current best time.

Hey man, that's awesome! I had been able to get into the elevator room, and tried glitching down the elevator shaft, but had no success. Great find!

Thanks, I've been experimenting with glitching out of bounds in pretty much every level, but so far this one is the only one that can be used for anything. If you find anything that brings you out, I don't mind spending some time to find if it can be used for anything.

How did you find the skip in the first place? It doesn't show up in any videos earlier, so I've wondered that, but good job finding it in the first place!

Yeah, I've spent a LOT of time trying to find glitches like that - there's heaps of spots, but it seems almost impossible to achieve anything with them unless the level is particularly vertical. Haha, I just noticed that terrain looked like a good spot for the glitch - a nice fence above a drop. If I can recall them, I'll see if I can make a little compilation of some of the promising oobs I've found, see if you can come up with anything using them that I couldn't.

With that said, are you familiar with the slow-mo glitch? There's a few spots that seem like it could be used to skip fights by making it to the next checkpoint before you die to the 'not killing enemies' damage, but I'm yet to have any luck there

Denmark

First i've heard of the slo-mo glitch, mind describing it?

The most promising oobs's i've found so far is getting on the roof in 2-1, and being able to drop into the water from 1-3.

Okay, so i googled it, and found this guys clip

However, when i tried to replicate it (regular game version), i couldn't get slo mo, only despawning of textures. I managed to then break it further, by missing a sniper snot while in this state, which apparently made everything except for me move in slow motion. Perhaps this could be useful?

Denmark

Found something! You were right, the slo mo can be used to skip certain fights! You can skip the entire first fight in 4-2, with a checkpoint reload after. Not recommended for the rest of the level, as there is a lot of waiting for animations to finish.

However, even bigger is 4-3. By doing the slo mo in the fight after falling through the door, you can skip all fights for the entire level, and the game luckily speeds up when you press the button for the elevator! This can save a lot of time.

Yeah, I've spent a bit of time in 4-2 trying to work stuff out - it's a pain of a level because if you've activated slow-mo to skip enemies, then reload to get rid of it, the slow-mo will just reactivate on certain cinematic events. Particularly in that level, if you slow-mo to skip up to where the helicopter comes in, then reload to get rid of slow-mo so the helicopter doesn't play in slow mo, it will actually just reactivate when the miniboss comes out of the fallen helicopter which wastes so much time. But, after the heli, when you run up the stairs and fight enemies towards where all the man eaters are before the boss, you can sometimes skip the fight/s on that stairs section. I don't know how or when or why it works though (or even whether you need slow mo for it), as 9 times out of 10 you'll just get shot by the too far from enemies thing, but there's a chance you just kinda don't get shot and get to skip fighting them.

Regarding 4-3, I haven't been able to replicate that. Keeping the level de-synced does nothing for me besides just removing textures, and being slow-mo doesn't seem to help me as I just get shot when you have to go around that large hole, after that first pack of enemies. Could you clarify or show me the 4-3 one?

I've created a video of it here:

Apparently, something changed so I couldn't do it in the room just before as usual, and I had to kill everyone in the area the video starts in, but after that i can skip all fights without triggering the damage from ignoring enemies. Take note of the "Gray!" and stuff which normally triggers together with the damage, meaning it registers i'm too far ahead, but im not being shot at.

Disregard my last post, slow mo is not a requirement for skipping those. Can be done by killing the right guy
