Thread: Emulators?

that's just kind of how it goes. i use bizhawk, but that basically uses bsnes as it's core for snes. i wouldnt think you should be losing a whole second per death just because of the emu though. couch has some really great menuing that probably also shaves off a bit here and there.

i say just have all prizes be a third category and have it be against cpu. if people start running all prizes no cpu then we can add that later.

Sounds like you made a good decision NCH.
I've always appreciated your judgment on these sort of things.
I've been slowly getting out of speedrunning for a while now. I don't have the time to really focus on being a mod. I'm going to basically be sticking to Godzilla NES and FF6 speedruns. it's really the only games I have a passion for at this point.
it's really nice to see that people like you have taken the reigns of the games i used to mod for.
very much appreciated.

For SNES (I forgot about this) we had someone come up with a similar idea so we made a 1P2C category for one fast money round. IIRC for some of the other game show boards (wheel of fortune snes for example) not having cpu competition is allowed so there are precedents for boards having it either way. IMO I just think it's a creative way to try and win as fast as possible. It should be allowed and whether it needs its own board or not I really dont care either way to be honest. Whatever you guys deem appropriate I am down for.

i know it only half works on the steam version. i dont think any other testing has been done on any of the versions besides Super Famicom and SNES. In general Emulators are fine as long as none of the emulator functions are used. I wouldn't think the door timer can carry over to different saves because there's a memory card involved in the PS1 version but there's only one way to find out!

I figured this would be a good spot to ask. I have a completed run of FF6 any% glitchless for Steam now. Will that get a board?

i think at one point i had started to do the timing after the theme music played. i may change it back to that. that's why toad's time was off.

submit your time and i'll sort it out later.

yeah i felt really bad about having to reject runs, but i felt like each event had to be beaten in the context of what the game considered beaten. even if that is a 0.0 score.
