Wizard New WR

Hello everybody, thanks to the moderators who checked the videos so fast and made me want to speedrun this game. NerdyNester I'm almost sure that I can beat your Huntress time with the wizard. I'm very doubtful about a sub 29 with him (a perfect lucky run maybe). I've noticed there's a problem with the sound sorry about that, I think it occured when Youtube encoded it (I've checked there's no sound problem with the original video on my pc)

I'm stupidly happy and very surprised that I could make such a good time There are still a few mistakes though (some failed damage boosts, the tricky jump in Level 4, the almost perfect boss in Level 2, the nasty winged skeleton in Level 7 (I really hate that guy!)

I think I'm going to play the barbarian for a little while. A bientôt pour de nouvelles aventures!

Good job! Warpless is a LOT of work.

having watched it a couple times I'm even more impressed, great job. looks like the wizard and huntress are competitive in time for no warp!!

I think the Huntress remains faster. We need to make a race someday to know if higher jumps are better than longer force field potion duration. The Wizard losts lots of time during the first boss fight, the bat skip,is quite easy for both of them, nevertheless the Wizard kills faster the Lizard Chieftain. It would be pretty funny, don't you already race against GoodieShoes?

No, we don't race because he only likes to do reset runs but I would.

Congratulatons for "stealing" my Wizard record. You never stop, do you? Imagine how surprised I was when I woke up and saw it. No time to check the full video right now I've only seen the first level so far but it is impressive. Wizard hopping is so much faster than simply walking. You 'll just have to make a sub 30 Barbarain Warpless Run by now. ;)

I've seen the fful video and the new strategies are very interesting, especially against the Green Head from hell, I've tried it against the Ghost Sorcerer and Medusa a long time ago and it never worke as I wished. Really nice use of the Invisibility Potion and I think the last Tricky Jump might not be necessary anymore. :D Congratulations again.

I felt particularly inspired the last few days, a break is in due order but maybe only after Barbarian warpless gets a little faster! Thank you, your run was definitely the inspiration and front runner for this category and gave me many ideas.

Thank you but you should feel grateful towards NerdyNester instead of me. He did all the new pathing, this is the reason why I call it NerdyNester's Road and his run proved the batskip was possible and even required.

I just add the batboost in the Catacombs for fun and I really don't know which one is faster between that and remaining on the moving platform. :P It is a really good training for the batskip too. The road in the forest simply has been changed because the Wizard couldn't jump high enough.

Good luck for your Barbarian warpless run!

The pioneer Nester for sure, thanks is due their as well ty! I like the little batjump you do there I was just afraid of that one ^^. The hardest skip for wizard to do that huntress can do easily is the elevator platforms in the final level, he can barely make it but to take the risk all the way at the end is scary was too much for me to try!

Thanks the batboost is really easy even with the Barbarian. Don't be afraid to try! The fall is not lethal. The Wizard can really jump so high? Soon we will have to make that jump to beat new WRs. :P

Hello everybody I've tried some experiments. I wanted Bizhawk to do tthat but since I'm not a TASer polish swedish russian and chinese seem so nice to learn so I did it old school. Please forgive me as Bryan Adams used to sing if there are some mistakes or a lack of precision.

Here are my conclusions : wizard hopping is faster by about 15 hundredths of a second than walking. Do you remember Super Metroid and the "pumping" technique? That's almost the same. The warp room was very useful to test that one (I don't know yet if firing spells while wizard hopping would save some more time) .

The batboost is faster than TheManaLord's strategy by about 40 hundredths of a second. Jumping to avoid the second bat is so much harder in my opinion.

The last Tricky Jump might be still useful but absolutely needs to be first try, it beats TheManaLord's strategy by half a second (sorry pal :P ). On the other hand his strategy is 100% safe. If the tricky jump is failed, you need 7 seconds to walk through this room with the back up strategy which is grab the ladder as fast as you can and jump. The last Tricky Jump can be found in level four, it's the door behind the golden skeleton after the last elevator with the saws . There's a ladder, a chest and a nice winged skeleton in there.

Last but not least the high jump on the floating elevator in last level is not really hard. If you fail you can fall back on the ledge to the right. The yellow spot in the wall is a good clue to know when you can jump with the Wizard.

That's all folks. A bientôt pour de nouvelles aventures!

The wizard or any character don't seem to break sync when playing co-op so the speed difference I'm not sure about. Jumping short or full versus just walking all characters always go the same speed.

Check this TAS it can really be seen here:

I definitely missed out on some key jumps or boosts either from nerves, execution errors, or playing it safe. Lots of room for improvement!

The spot on the wall is a good tip, ty ! :)

I've just carried out the test and the Huntress seems to walks only one or two hundredths of a second faster than the Wizard. Only a real TASer could tell you more precisely, I don't speak their language yet. Where are those guys when you really need them.?

Kiske's road seems so weird now but I don't blame him (or her). I did'nt know there was a key between the traps until NerdyNester showed it..

Drake, new wizard WR incoming, naked any%, beats the others!!

France

GG, I've just seen that but our poor wizard didn't seem to hold the wr too long. Thanks for the data dump, it might change a few things. Since you consider playing warpless again using charged attacks level 2 after the weapon upgrade against the vulture king and the second Medusa might improve any run by almost one minute I think.

The fastest way to kill Medusa the Second seems to be a scroll strength and at least two health potions with the wizard. It beats the charged staff strat by about 13 seconds.

New technique was discovered for Huntress and Barbarian melee attack cancelling. Hopefully we find another secret gem technique for Wizard
