Thread: can we get older times from before the overhaul moved to Legacy?

Started by: ebh89ebh89

All of the times on slime were preformed within the past 4 months, and I don't really recall a track overhaul in that time. It would start to be overly complicated to change boards in that manner, so the way it's done currently is probably fine.

I might add jumpless at a later time. No promises for right now.

Let me address the extra categories that 89 suggested.
I am NOT adding padless. It's just not a good category.
Reverse isn't doable for some tracks I think? Even if it was, would anyone be inclined to do it? And instead of 2-4 laps, many more would be required due to hitting the checkpoints one lap at a time.
Single lap is just stupid. I'm not using SPRT to retime single lap runs. If you can do 1 lap, you can do 2-4. I rather go off the in-game time since its more precise than anything I can do with a video. If I had to time single laps, there would be disputes based on if you crossed the line 1 frame earlier/later than what actually happened, and I rather not go through that.
As I said before, I don't see any reason for a category extension board.

I honestly think that a category extensions board wouldn't be great for a game like SBB. As of now, the only thing that could go there would be maybe jumpless (which still might get added to the main boards), and some other extremely arbitrary categories like racing backwards or boostless. Right now, I see no reason to have a category extensions board.

Marathon is officially added.
If a LOT of you guys want jump-less, I guess I could add that as well. It just seems arbitrary to me.

Update: The Marathon category has been added, due to a few of you asking for it. Don't expect many other categories to be added (except for jump-less if the majority of you want it).

I know there's another place for no jump SBB, but I still think its arbitrary to add to the lbs. And I didn't even think of the marathon place when originally posting that. So, if you guys want another main game category for the marathon map, then tell me.

I guess so. As long as you aren't quitting out of a track after it has started, then you should be fine.

Extra categories for a game like this seems very arbitrary, and things like no easy way to get official times for out of bounds shenanigans push it away from being added.
For snocs suggestions, jumpless isn't going to happen, boostless may or may not be interesting to try out, and start wall seems arbitrary again.
Boostless would be the only one I would think of adding, but I don't see any meaningful reason to add another sub-category for it.
And to comment on the problem of competition, you DID want more competition, and there has always been a small player base of higher level players for the game. The problem initially was that many runs aren't recorded, as in-game WRs usually were set by known community members, so video proof wasn't necessarily needed. But as that discord gets to know about these leaderboards (which I still think are redundant in the first place aside from all track runs), they've gradually submitted runs. But now that there is harder competition, you start asking for more categories. That's just what I've noticed.

New subcategory added for if you use the gamepass to select maps or not. If your run is put under the wrong subcategory, post here or DM me and I will fix it.
This was the original problem with adding a subcategory. For some runs, you cannot tell if they used the gamepass or not, so you just have to guess and hope.

This update took effect a while ago, where the gravity coil no longer gets affected by hat weight. At this point, it's basically a dead category.

If you're doing, as an example, single difficulty easy, then only you need to beat it. This is specifically for public servers though. For private server runs, they should be solo. This is specified since not everyone would be able to afford a private server to play on.

Other runs have used the gamepass before, so yes you are allowed to use it.

If you have proof of recreating the glitch, it can be considered... However, I wouldn't know how to recreate this at all, as it seems very bizarre to all of a sudden move faster moving sideways with shiftlock on. If it requires the use of extra items to achieve, then the answer is definitely no.

Thread: Game and Leaderboard Updates

Due to the new update to Super Blocky Ball, adding a new course, there is now a new category for 15 courses. The new course was also added to the level leaderboard.

One thing I would like your thought in would be what happens to the old 14 course runs. Would you want them just modified into the new category with a flat time added to them (say, a minute or so), or should we keep the 14 course current physics separate from legacy and 15 course?

And an extra update on legacy physics: Maelstronomer has opened up a legacy place with physics that are close enough to the old physics, and I will allow runs from that place to be submitted under the legacy category, for both 14 courses and ILs, despite every course being the mirror version. I don't see enough of a difference to create a fourth category for mirror old physics, as that would become redundant. The link is here: https://www.roblox.com/games/607074490/Super-Blocky-Ball-Mirror-Mode-old

Sorry about being inactive on the boards, I'll try to work on being better about it.

Thread: Category Split

Started by: bboccio66bboccio66

Considering the problems caused by physics changes in the game, I've now split up the categories for Legacy (Before the physics change that happened on June 24th) and Current (Any runs after June 24th).
This issue was brought up in another forum post but these boards have always been on the less popular side, and for most records, you could just use the in-game leaderboards. But for things like all levels, it makes sense to finally have this change.
I have changed around the runs from before and after, but still allow submissions for legacy, in case someone cares to submit old videos for the sake of keeping more times on the boards.

Thread: What is considered a glitch?

Started by: LunaSpeedLunaSpeed

I would say that glitches refer to using bugs (usually due to roblox mechanics) to your advantage.
Something like player stacking isn’t a glitch as it’s a normal mechanic in the roblox engine, which can be used to speed up specific sections. However, frog jumping or wall clipping would be glitches since they aren’t intended on roblox whatsoever.

Thread: MILLISECONDS, finally this topic is brought up..

Started by: LunaSpeedLunaSpeed

For now, times with differentiating millisecond endings would be considered tied on the leaderboards. I guess if other people want milliseconds to get added, then I could do that. Only issue is having to retime runs as timings during the run aren't always accurate. But like I said, if some others want this change, I can make it happen.

Thread: Can 2 Players run the 3-player and 4-player category?

Started by: SpeedrunSpeedrun

Just gonna address some stuff here...
I'm suprised how far off the original question this post got to, but whatever.
For now, you can only run the zones with the respective amount of players that are intended for it. I might make a separate category for running zones without the intended player count (only for glitched as I'm not sure what is/isn't possible in 3-4 player zones without the required players). But yeah, runs won't be accepted for 4 player zone with less than 4 players.

It seems like he removed the run and video of it altogether. I don't have any control over what he does...

Also, Overworld doesn't moderate these boards particularly often. I mainly do the verification for runs that are submitted. Given that, I'm not always on, leading to runs sometimes taking a few days to get verified. (On that note, your run is now verified.)
