Xbox PAL vs NTSC

How do these versions compare? I know PAL generally runs slower than NTSC, but is that the case here?

Any side by side video proof would be appreciated!

Also, how would a PAL ISO run on a modded NTSC Xbox using Xecuter?

Hello @starcrytas! I don't know xD . I think no one has ever done any tests. And unfortunately I do not know what those things that you talk about in the second part of your message mean. I never have Xbox, Only PC. What is Xecuter? And what does it mean modded NTSC Xbox? And what does it mean ISO? Thank for your message, greetings from Russia!

We would need to test if PAL is slower than NTSC with BEA. Do you have a NTSC version starcrytas then we both could record some test footage. Most of the time PAL is slower, but I also play Wave Race Blue Storm which became faster through the help of the PAL conversion. In this generation PAL conversion became better and better and needed to have the same speed if you allowed Online Gaming, which obviously isn't the case with BEA.

Isn't it a standard feature that a modchip like Xecuter allows to play games from other regions? At least that is what I would expect.

Next time I play BEA I will probably try the PC version since it seems to be free as abandondware if I'm right. PC should have no lags like the XBox version sometimes has, if you play on the XBox 360 with emulation then it's even worse, wouldn't recommend that.

Hey guys. So I am the one who its trying to figure this whole thing out. Starcrystas is aware of the situation and brought it to you guys. I have a modded NTSC xbox that allows me to play both PAL/NTSC games either PAL 50hz or NTSC 60hz. However, I have never tested to see if it's accurately playing the PAL games at 50hz. I've been speed running BEA and I was comparing my times to @invive , @JimB, a youtube player with some good times, and another player's times from another site. This is what I found. Apparently it doesn't matter what version you play on??? It makes no sense to me.

@Inv1ve , you played on a PC but our times from what I could test where only .08 seconds apart from one another...practically no time difference. @JimB, you played on an actual PAL Xbox and our times ended up being slightly off in my favor. From a new game file to the first allowed movement of the BE, my time was .4-.5s faster than yours. Not much but over time that would become a big amount. At first I thought my Xbox was not playing accurately until I tested out another PAL Xbox players times. All of his times where faster than @JimB, and only .3 seconds slower than my average times AFTER the player had control of the BE.

The reason this is all confusing to me is because I was actually playing with an NTSC version of the game. My times should have been at least 4-5 seconds faster than @JimB and the other PAL Xbox player but they weren't. They where within .5 seconds of one another.

Essentially, while I think playing on PC or an NTSC version in theory SHOULD be far superior to a PAL version because of the speed difference, I don't think it really matters after all the stuff I've reviewed. But I can't definitely know without further testing. There appears to be very minimal speed difference. I'm more than happy to test some of this out with you guys. I have an NTSC Xbox. I think the best way to test this is by starting a new game, letting the cut scene play all the way through, don't do anything until she is completely done talking. That completely takes the player out of the equation. I'll post a link to my test tomorrow with a timer so you can compare.

Using the video above these are the times I ended up having. I'll post the times when I started using my stop watch so you know where/when I started the timer and ended it.

Test 1 - NTSC video settings using PAL game - Timer starts at 14:39.73 when first image of the loading screen appears. Timer ends on first movement at 17:20.99. Total time = 2:41.26.

Test 2 - NTSC video settings using NTSC game - Timer starts at 18:34.68 when first image of the loading screen appears. Timer ends on first movement at 21:15.80. Total time = 2:41.12

Test 3 - PAL video settings using PAL game - Timer starts at 22:29.79 when first image of the loading screen appears. Timer ends on first movement at 25:11.30. Total time = 2:4.51

Test 4 - PAL video settings using NTSC game - Timer starts at 25:49.99 when first image of the loading screen appears. Timer ends on first movement at 28:31.32. Totat time = 2:41.33

There are a few timing inconsistencies, but I chalk that up to me using Youtube's frame by frame advancement. It's not perfect, but as you can see there is hardly no difference between PAL/NTSC game play. Hope @Inv1ve and @JimB post a link as well with your times so we can compare.
