I am aware of the discrepancy. I decided to start the timing on main menu, because that’s how every other category is timed. If you’re fast at spamming the difference between starting on Hello World and on the menu is <0.1 seconds. I’m sure everyone can manage that much more ”gameplay“.

The number of batches isn’t a typo, as the story of Henk is only 7 batches. City and Henkmas are extra. The Decathlon also doesn’t include these, so I don’t get where your number comes from.

Also ngl I kinda hate this green. I don't think it looks good on either light or dark mode. I don't even know how you find a color that doesn't look good with black... Also this green nav bar that makes my name hard to read (thank god it's not green am I right) is kinda... questionable.

Then give us options to make two different themes per page? Goddammit, only because some people with boards belong on r/CrappyDesign doesn't mean the rest of us should be crippled. I think I can claim that my boards looked reasonably well designed, and all of them were legible, which wasn't hard to achieve at all. Honestly the longer I look at this the more I strongly dislike it...

Removed all themes, and honestly pretty meh that you can't set up any theme at all in light mode. No more custom backgrounds, no more custom speedrun.com logos. No more cool color combinations to create since you only get a banner and one theme color that has to work with black. Depending on the game's cover art the white and green default theme just doesn't really work with it, at all. Sorry but I'm not a fan.

Me not liking somebody and me not thinking they are fit for this position are not the same thing though. If anyone of you know anything about me, it‘s that I like a certain level of professionalism in the majority - if not all - public things I do. And that is lacking in a lot of potential candidates, in my eyes anyway.

let me preface this by saying that I - obviously - don‘t have a choice but to comply and add another super mod. It‘ll happen, in the near future.

So far so good. What I don‘t appreciate is the community apparently reporting this to a site admin, who knows nothing about this community, only ever reads this thread and then forces me to make a decision - do the thing or get removed. This discussion is not as onesided as this thread might make you think. I‘ve talked about my responses with others who simply chose not to get involved directly. Consequently, I won‘t call any names here.
I have talked to people who I think would make great super mods - and they politely declined. There is a lot of background info to be known here, which is simply not possible for you. I‘d rather have someone of my choice - I built up this game‘s speedcommunity together with faulty after all - work alongside with me on this board, but when the people I, with all my experience in doing community related things, asked to do so declined my request, I thought about my options. I could 1) have someone in the position I don‘t think is fit for it, or 2) evaluate if there really is enough work to be done to warrant another moderator. I chose the latter, and came to the conclusion that things are fine as is. That obviously doesn‘t mean that I don‘t get the community involved. One of the people in this thread heavily influenced the setup of this site, and I have tried everything possible to make this site be just as the people submitting to it want it to be.

I have to say that I am fairly disappointed that you, a site admin, come in without ever hearing out both sides, and give me the choice of doing something I have good reasons not to do, and losing my position on the site I put the hours in to make. I sincerely hope that this is the exception to the rule, and not something that happens regularly.
But, as stated above, I will comply.

Maybe my point was a little over the top there. I just don't need another chance, because I didn't to anything to blow my first one as an srcom mod.

But we live in the here and now, not a couple months ago. This again boils down to "there's objectively no need for another mod, other than your personal preference". I do what I think is best for the srcom boards, and so my decision stands.

Sounds like confirmation bias to me. I don't know who you've talked to, but I've gotten support left and right. I've also gotten shit left and right. And then there's a few people who I've heard nothing from, and I'm gonna call neutral on those. It might be 50/50, it might be 60/40. Who knows, it's enough people on either side nonetheless.

Well here it is. 'Whatever I do is wrong' is objectively incorrect - as you state in the first sentence of that paragraph - and so that statement sounds like a you-problem.

I'm not the biggest fan of drama, but seeing as it happens time and time again I'm used to it by now. I'm also not letting you pressure me into doing anything based on nothing but spite and personal issues alone.

I'm just the man I always was. I stand up for my beliefs, and have gotten a shitstorm over it on Twitter before (short summary: I called a shot on the regular Henk srcom boards. People really disliked it. I defended my point to the best of my ability, but saw myself defeated by superior arguments. I have since changed my point of view). I will let myself be convinced by arguments, but "because we wanna" isn't one.

Remember how I never banned a single one of you? We've had that discussion though, and you neither wanted to listen to nor really counter my arguments, and I don't expect you to do so with the current discussion, but let's at least not have two bad discussions at the same time.

Finally you guys are saying what I knew was the driving factor behind this from the start.

This is 1) taken out of context, and 2) not true. I just dislike a portion of the community, and the people I care about I'm still in contact with. I don't want to distance myself from the community as a whole, especially not the speedgaming side. faulty and I started Henk speedrunning, and thus I feel it's only fair that him and me call the shots on srcom. faulty isn't about this page, so that leaves me. I have shown nothing but support for this page, creating all of it, verifying runs whenever I'm home and see them, and I will add every level you want me to add. So I feel like the ones wanting things to happen purely out of spite are you guys.

And Maniax, what exactly are you going to do if I don't give up my position, which I feel like I've more than earned? Ban me from the server for something that upsets you personally but doesn't violate any rule?

Dempsey, I don't mind giving people mod in general. There's plenty people I'd like to mod, but they're either not suited for the position in my opinion, or don't want to have it in the first place.

As a side note, I still very much care for this game. Anyone who has spent more than 15 seconds talking to me at GDQ knows that. On top of that, I'm planning to submit Henk to Summer ESA as well as AGDQ 2020. So don't tell me that I don't care about it anymore. So don't tell me I shouldn't be mod because I have nothing to do with the game anymore. Neither do I have nothing to do with the community anymore, I read the new community server as much as the old one, which is multiple times daily. I just don't say much anymore, because I don't feel like I have anything to contribute to the discussions going on.

Wanting me removed for an action that half the community really dislikes, and the other half supports sounds like you have a personal problem with me. Which is fine, I knew the decision would be controversial. I, too, don't like some of you personally, which I'll openly admit. That however won't stop me from moderating this board as good as I can, and as the super moderator for this board I'm making the call that there is not another moderator needed. I don't need help with anything on here other than verifying runs, which is why there are two other verifiers besides me.

So if you're telling me that I'm doing things out of spite, take a look in the mirror for a second.

I simply don't see a reason for another mod. All you guys are saying is "ADD MOD", without any reason why that should be necessary. I on the other hand have stated my arguments why there is no need for another mod. And I trust Activy enough to be a mod, I just don't see a reason for him to be one. So if you guys don't feel like actually making an argument for the need off an additional moderator, I'm gonna lock the thread soon because this discussion isn't going anywhere.

I added Activy as a verifier (replacing faulty, since he's not really interested in these boards). I hope that relieves some of the stress with verifying.

The thing I don't quite get is what exactly you guys need another mod for. Going back to the original post, 1. & 2. have been addressed I'm pretty sure. Now that I'm home I'll show more presence. 3. has been addressed as well, seeing as nobody has ever approached me about this, I don't think it's that big an issue. An 4. sounds like what you want is another verifier.

let's address all of these in order.

1. I can only address myself here, but last bit of inactivity is due to me attending AGDQ, I think I can be forgiven for not checking this board during that time.

2. I have email notifications on for stuff like this, and while I did get one for this thread, I never received a notification about the existence of the thread you're presumably mentioning here (https://www.speedrun.com/henkils/thread/lbx7i). Since that and this thread are about the same topic, I won't reply to that one anymore. I would've responded to it, if srcom would've done what it's supposed to and sent me an email.

3. I stated when I made this board that all that needs to be done to add custom levels to this is shoot me a DM on Discord. I have not received a single request to add a level to the boards, so nothing has been done. All you need to do is ask.

4. I don't think another super mod is needed here. An additional verifier to help with the load would probably be appropriate though. I'll look for someone I think is suited and contact them.
