Purpose

The purpose of this guide is to be a knowledge share about DAYZ and its current movement. This information has been tested for 1.16 and is subject to change in future updates. written and calculated by tyshoe

Travel Methods

You run at ~6.66 meters per second. You jog at ~4 meters per second.

Overview

With a full stamina bar, you can run for 25 seconds covering about 166 meters in game. It takes 20 seconds to recover your stamina while jogging. During the recovery period, if you are jogging, you'll cover 80 meters. This means, to expend and recover a full stamina bar, you will spend 45 seconds covering 246 meters. We will call this period "one cycle". If you take the total distance of a route you'd like to travel, you can divide it by 246 meters and this will be your "total cycles". You can then multiply the total cycles by your cycle time (45 seconds) and it will give you the most optimized time for that distance.

Example

To the east of Prigorodki (east of Chernogorsk) there are player spawns. If you take the distance between those spawns and the closest point of the wall, its roughly 6900 meters. Take this number and divide it by a distance per cycle (246 meters). 6900 meters / 246 meters = 28.04 cycles For simplicity, we will just say 28 cycles. Take the total cycle count and multiply it by the time one cycle takes (45 seconds). 28 cycles * 45 seconds = 1260 seconds You can take this number and divide by 60 seconds to get the time in minutes. 1260 seconds / 60 seconds = 21 minutes

Equations

  • Cycle Distance = Running Distance + Jogging Distance
  • Cycle Time = Running Time + Jogging Time
  • Cycle Count = Total Distance / Cycle Distance
  • Total Time = Cycle Time * Cycle Count

Explanations

  • Running Distance - distance covered by using one full stamina bar
  • Jogging Distance - distance covered by recovering one full stamina bar
  • Running Time - time to run one full stamina bar
  • Jogging Time - time to recover one full stamina bar
  • Cycle Distance - total distance for a cycle
  • Cycle Time - total time for a cycle
  • Cycle Count - amount of cycles to cover a total distance
  • Total Distance - distance between point a and point b
  • Total Time - time between point a and point b

Epinephrine Auto-Injectors

Epi-Pens removes stamina consumption for 60 seconds. This means if you time an Epi-Pen usage right, you can run for 110 seconds before needing to regen stamina. During this time you will cover 732 meters. To get 110 seconds of running, uninterrupted, you'll need to run for 25 seconds (depleting a full stamina bar) then inject for 60 seconds, which will refill you stamina bar, and after 60 seconds, you'll start consuming stamina again, for 25 seconds. Time: 25 + 60 + 25 = 110 seconds Distance: 166 + 400 + 166 = 732 meters

Epi-Pen Optimization

The best possible time without epi-pens would be about 21 minutes. If you were to utilize 9 Epi-Pens, you could get about 17 minutes and 20 seconds. This means that each Epi-Pen you use, you will save roughly 25 seconds. Keep in mind that all of these calculations and assumptions does not take into account other random factors as well as player choices.
