To quote the "General Game Rules" section of each category's ruleset: "Timing is done using the in-game file timer, please refrain from taking long breaks mid-run."
Most people might suggest giving the game another playthrough or two before trying to speedrun it. You should build confidence in your gameplay before attempting.
Though I was working my way through beating the game, I was mainly working on improving my chapter 1 and 2 times. Recently been doing chapter 3 as well and happy with progress there. But it's 4 onwards where my 1st and only attempts are each above an hour (though I was exploring and Berry hunting) that I need to spend more time on. Thanks for the advice!
