New runner needing some help!

I'm going to attempt running this game as my first ever speedrun. I just wanted to make sure if I stream/record a run, it's within the rules.

I'm using a Logitech Gamepad F310 to play on SNES9x 1.55 and the D-Pad on the controller has Up/Left and Up/Right buttons and so forth. I tried disabling them in the config and it makes the controller unusable with its design. Do I need to get a different controller that is more like the SNES controller? Thanks!

Hi Richman--99% sure that controller design is fine. It seemingly doesn't allow you to do things like press L+R or U+D simultaneously? Mapping diagonals to their correct place on the D-Pad because of the physical design of any particular controller is not what the rule about mapping two actions to a button is in place to prevent. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to confirm but in the meantime, I think you can feel confident you're following the rules properly.

4 months later. Mapping 2 buttons to one control is more to prevent for A+Y (item dashing). SNES9x also has a designation for the diagonal mapping. The only thing you need to do is make sure that "Allow Left+Right/Up+Down" is unticked.
