What if there was a category where it was an Any% route, and you had to get all the koopaling medals? Time would start once a character is selected and time stops once Zangief/Monstario was beaten. The run is valid if the video also shows the cutscene and the player unlocking 5-4.

I think it's a good category but the only problem is that according to category requests we need 12 runners to run it and the runners that currently submitted runs in the leaderboards are only 6 (7 by including Nesstalgia's Any% run that he made private).

do the Koopaling stars have to be collected in order or at whatever moment? (example:i get Wendy after getting Ludwig)

Any order, just beat the game with all of them, I'll post the run on my channel soon as an example if you like. The main rules for this category are as follows:

-Beat the game with all koopaling medals as fast as possible
-This is also an Any% so warps, p-switches, and cheats are allowed
-Time starts once character is selected (any character is allowed)
-Time stops once Zangief/Monstario is defeated
-The run is valid if the video clearly shows that all 7 medals were collected
-It is optional whether the player shows 5-4 being unlocked

I wonder if it is possible to beat the game without collecting any coins... I'm going to try it in a bit.
Here are some ground rules. If you wanna try it.

-Coin counter must always be at 0 from start to end
-Complete the game in any way you can, just like an Any%
-You also cannot collect coins from the end of the level, this includes flagpoles, the box, and the goal post
-If you collect a single coin, you must start over, or reload a previous save of the game with 0 coins collected
-If a coin is collected, you can't collect 99 more coins to balance it out to 0
-The run starts at the hero select, the run ends once Zangief/Monstario is defeated
