I played Alex Kidd as a child, alot. Recently I've been putting a lot of effort into speed running this wonderful game.
I fear that if I finally capture a good run that it will not be of a high enough standard to be accepted.
Would somebody please watch this failed run of mine and let me know. With my current hardware this is the best quality I can manage.
I have chosen a very difficult route, if by miracle I actually finish a run I obviously want to be sure that it meets the standard.

Windowed, 480p, 30fps and a little choppy. Given the number of attempts I thought I ought to check. Imagine that... 10k attempts in vein.
The quality is good enough. It's better if you start the video from the home screen and with a timer set to -3.5sec. Is that a TAS ? First two levels are strange^^
Thanks for the tip. It's my best out of 6000 level 1 attempts, most of them 4 seconds long. I usually miss a few low punches and it takes me around 20 tries to make it past the 2nd bird, down from around 500 when i started. Level 2 onward was mostly missed inputs here. Haven't made it past level 7 on pace yet.
I can't comment on the quality, but I can comment on the Lv1 strat! 25.3 is insane!!!! My best Lv 1 is 27.6! I may revise my Lv 1 route, as that is a huge time saver. I'm looking forward to seeing one of your finished runs.

I should be able to shave more time off, or get lucky with the money bags and take the rightmost route into the water. There are some TAS moves that I can't quite figure a way to execute yet like the jump that collects the first 2 money bags and the way it gets the 3rd 4th and 5th money bags I think it is TAS only. Good luck forming a strat for the 2nd bird part it took me a lot of trial and error.
I will be going for the invisible level 16 strat so it may be quite some time before I complete a run, if I complete one that is.
