Validity of using co-op to take devil deal

I've seen a few runs on here and some live streamers splitting health via co-op feature to effectively steal devil deals they wouldn't be able to take otherwise. As this is a single player speedrun, I query the validity of this tactic.

Example for clarity: no red health, 2 soul hearts, split one across to co-op, take deal and then leave with one soul heart.

I feel like it's just exploiting a game mechanic to gain an advantage, something not uncommon in speedruns, and overall reduces the overall (P)RNG of this already heavily (P)RNG based game.

Then I would argue that you over exaggerate influence of coop baby dps on the whole run. WR in current state requires so much grinding and luck that half of damage that coop baby deal (yes, it's half, not full damage) doesn't influence a runs in such a manner that "it can beat almost any time". Also coop baby desync makes it much harder to dodge.

I would just add that with the added difficulty in dodging, and the health stolen by the coop baby, it's much more likely to lose your devil deal and isn't worth it unless you've stacked up soul hearts. Oh and it seems your baby also drops a bomb, so you are using 2 bombs each use.
