New Person Looking to Start Speedrunning

Hi! I've gotten 500+ hours on TBoI:A and I've finally decided to start trying my hand at speedrunning. I have 1001% and everything, which is bare minimum to start, right? I have a few questions as far as rules go, and I'm not even sure I can record actual footage (I'm playing on a potato.)

  1. Is footage required? I know proof of some sort is required but I guess we'll cross that bridge once we get to it, eh?
  2. Can I use a predetermined seed, or do I have to find one randomly? I think I've found one that's relatively fast, and probably good for speedrunning if I can get it to drop an Emperor card. (Though it isn't Isaac's Heart+ Blood Rights fast)
  3. This is the very first game I've ever speedran. If I decide to go to other games as well, are there any tactics that apply outside of this game as well as others? If not, that's fine. Isaac's a pretty unique game in terms of how it operates compared to other games.

Thanks in advance!

hey, I think most of your questions are answered in the rules on the leaderboard and also from what i know BrainTM has like a website that helps new speedrunners so I think you should check it out too maybe it will help you at the beginning.

also, you can allways join the discord server https://discord.gg/Gd8TVbD .

Oh. Thanks! I looked at the rules earlier and it said "Hard Mode True Platinum God" (that may have been a bug on my end, now that I think about it.) I'll be sure to check everything out. Thank you!

those are not the rules, not sure what you're reffering to like which category but the rules that I'm reffering to are for the main categories 7/11/13 characters on Normal mode to the chest.

you go to http://www.speedrun.com/afterbirth and click "view rules", those are the rules for speedrunning.

Footage is required. The usual way to provide it is to stream on Twitch with the free program OBS. You don't need to have super high quality or anything. Once you get a run you want on the leaderboard, you make a "highlight" of it and provide the link to that.

All the categories people usually run don't allow you to use a predetermined seed. There is one category where that's allowed.
