Thread: What are your proudest achievements in speedrunning?

Funnily enough probably learning some speedrun strats to do in casual playthroughs of games like Halo 1-3, SM64 and Banjo-Kazooie is up there; it was so satisfying to hit a BLJ or a Sword Fly for the first time.

Having WR in Road Rash 64 100% is something to be proud of, too. I'd thought about it for a fair while since I've sunk a tonne of hours into that game over an order of decades, and finally got a capture card this year to record playthroughs.

I wouldn't be opposed to a no major shortcuts version of each category. You'd need some pretty concrete definitions of major offroad shortcuts since even minor ones can trigger the 'cheat much?' type of messages.

Hoping this community can grow a bit so we can get more people on board with such ideas.

There might be a community separate to the src website too, you never know. It’s a solid game, I’m actually tempted to pick it up casually again.

Racing games fit the category, but might not be what you’re looking for.

F-Zero X, for example, has a pretty slick movement tech (railsliding) that’s a staple of speedrunning the game. But it doesn’t really have any skips per sè.

Thread: How/Where did you get your username?

I think I was trying to come up with a fresh username around 2009 to break away from my old handle that I found to be kinda cringeworthy after a few years.

I got given a car magazine for christmas, reviewing the upcoming Pagani Zonda Cinque and I found the car kinda bonkers just reading the article and looking at the photos. I also liked the ring of the name so I decided to make my alias ‘Zonda,’ adding my birth year to my handle when I felt like it or when the word by itself was taken.

Sup guys, longtime spectator of various game runs, and looking to test the waters for speedruns soon; I figured this would be a good place to join.

I've dabbled in Halo CE and Super Mario 64 run practice in the past but haven't strung a run together on either game. Recently came into ownership of a Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 2 cabinet and was hoping to try my hand at runs for that. There doesn't seem to be a pre-existing community for that specific game, so I intend to request a category be opened up for that game once my account is permitted to do so. In the meantime I'm down to mingle so if you'd like, drop something about yourself in the replies and links to your twitch/youtube and what games you like to run/watch.

Looking forward to meeting new people and recording my own runs!
