Hi sye990,

it is actually a cool idea to include it as a shorter category and maybe that would be more beginner friendly aswell.
If there is interest we can add it.
Only "problem" why it does not exist yet is that we allready have 3 categories and 2 of them have no real interest whatsoever.
I don't like dead categories and adding some only for the sake of having them, but if you are interested we can of course add it 🙂

Hello fellow runners,

i wondered if anyone knows how Cake skip works? I mean we have the discovery VoD of Nix but it does not say anything on what inputs to do and what timing etc.

About Palace Skip: I thought i figured out the secret of how to get it consistantly but it seems i was wrong since my last attempts never got it to work in a fast way. Can we figure these two out as a (even tho small) community?

Hello astruna,

sorry for the delayed answer.
I assume the input lag you are refering to is the one that is kinda in the game itself.
I recommend using ePSXe 2.05 (?) or whatever version it was.
Since I am currently pretty much out of the game i do not remember the options for the emulator not too well so i cannot really say if the input problem could be fixed with some settings.

Hey everyone,

Fetti_touretti and I talked about creating a category without warps at all (no fruit warps, no game over warps)
I also have a run already for the leaderboard so it won't be empty.
The fitting name would be "Any% warpless" but since there is a category with that name that is a "some warps are ok, some aren't" we would need another name such as "100%" or "all stages".

I would be thankful if a mod could create that category.

You can run the normal coop or run the other type but submit it to the same board.

EDIT: You were right! The two types should be seperated because type A allows you to get boss one - shots, which safe a lot of time. A moderator should act about that.

Hi,

if you do the fargus roll attack you get a slight speedboost for the length of the animation.
So if you do that roll and die while the animation is still going, you will keep that speedboost for normal walking.
(you can even stack it multiple times, thats why wr does it twice..its still worth and saves time compared to doing it just once)

The only downside is that you lose these stacked speedboosts after the next animal portal.
So thats why this glitch is only used at that point of the game, because you have alot of stages and paths until the next animal transform gate appears (which is in desert 2)

Hey FF: Mystic Quest community.
I know that there is supposed to be no way to manipulate the floor on which Pazuzu might land.
My questions:
1.) when does the game decide the floor for Pazuzu? (the exact frame he disappears after talking on floor 3?)
2.) How much testing went into a possible manipulation? Was there an insane amount of investigation yet?
3.) Is the chance for each floor the same? (all 20%?)
4.) Is there anything you could do to increase the chance for floor 6 slighty, or something you could do wrong when speaking to him?

Wanna start testings etc...I am currently grinding and had now 20 (!!) Pazuzus in a row that did not appear to be on floor 6..That is why i am asking myself if i do sth wrong or if there might be a way to legimately get "consistant" floor6 spawns.

Hey folks,

i started learning any% without gamble and i just realized that for some party i cannot get the enemies to spawn like in the record..
I know that sometimes very small movement differences can cause totally differnt spawn amounts, however best example for my problem is the first screen after the cutscene which you get after this octorok guy,

Am i missing sth or are there actually differnt versions of the game or sth?

I will shortyly start learning this game and run it...so again the question:
Do the vods of the first two runners still exist? (also watchable without nico vid account?)

Because i guess they have a kinda different route..otherwise the time difference would not be that immense

Hello,

can someone maybe add a category for "all characters" ?
Would enjoy running that alot (complete the game with all 5 chars in one sitting...after one finished run, just reset console and take the next one, without interupting the timer)

That would be cool 🙂

Hey thank you for that quick reply,

tbh i never checked how much zsnes is faster than console..i just know that ppl generally say it is faster no matter what. As for such a short run it surely does not matter.
But yes it most likely is, i dont know.

But yes i mean we dont have to change it since the game is anyways not too optimized yet

Well hello all!

Just a quick question about general coop runs and especially about the current wr run:

Are zsnes coop runs allowed? (zsnes is one of the few emulators that can handle multiplay via internet)
If yes i think it should not be allowed anymore because the zsnes emulator is well known for not emulating the games on an accurate speed..games go faster on that emulator than on actual real console.

So in addition to that i want to ask if the wr is done on zsnes aswell, because if so i dont think it should be on the boards.

Hey mate,

first of all: Thanks for accepting the runs.
Game is alot of fun to run, escpecially because it has not toooo much rng involved in it.
Community might grow even because another friend of us might start running it aswell once he is at home again.

1) Sounds good, so far we always handled it like that because it is more like most games where the actual game starts after start screen so you can even decide yourself what language you wnat to play in (even tho it makes no differences timing wise if you play italian/german or whatever)

2) Good that you start that topic because yea zsnes is a thing...don't know how much faster it is but since its overall known that it runs faster than actual console it would be the right thing to not have it on the leaderboards. (would be sad tho because you put time into the game..maybe you would run it again today on other emulator?)
So yea long story short we would appreciate to keep it like the gobal rules for snes runs (zsnes not being legit for speedrunning)

-> Normally i play on real hardware but because of this game being PAL exclusive i more or less HAVE to play on emulator aswell 😕
I am using the bizhawk Emulator because it is known to not really lose any time compared to console as far as we know.. (only downsite is that it drains your computer ressources pretty much)

So thanks again and we hope it is not too bad for you now with that old run.

PS: Can you give us mod role aswell? Might make it faster for the incoming runs/submissions.

Hey all,

a good friend and I started running "The smurfs (SNES)"...since we have rivalry going on its a lot of fun to push each others times lower.
Meanwhile we got quite good and compatitive times BUT:
1) the only runner (who is also only mod) the game had so far is online once or twice a day. So far he has not accepted any of our runs.. (it has been over a week in total) ...
2) That runner also runs on ZSNES which is mostly banned globally due to running games faster than actual console...so we don't think it should stay on the leaderboards because its an unfair advantage which should not be legit in the end.
3) Don't think he would be mad about my friend "Turanin" and myself becoming the new mods for this game because he seems to be inactive anyways.
