Thread: Leaderboard for races and licenses

I have actually been planning on adding IL (Individual Level) boards here, but there'd be no reason to exclude any of them. It will take some thinking as to how it should be laid out, though...

For the moment, I'm not able to do a whole lot, we're traveling for education purposes and my accommodations lack any room for my computer (I'm on a ChromeBook >.<). Feel free to add me on discord if you want if you want to discuss the run, strats, etc.

Welcome back SupremeTDM, I was wondering what happened to you.

All cutscenes would also be terribly long.

All S-Rank would be an absolute slog because any failure to get an S-Rank would either be a dead run or an entire chapter repeated. This would be wildly likely at the Saaya Asura fight as Yasha especially on Hard as that S-Rank is crazy tight.

Blind Master really doesn't change the approach at all.

Mortal Gauge could be a thing though as it does actually increase the difficulty dramatically. None of the other gauges really offer a change to gameplay that would warrant a category.

Thread: Loadless times.

Started by: Zana_GZana_G

Due to the nature of how different loads are for this game from PS2 on disc, PS2 on HDD, PS3, and emulation... it is best to manually remove loads via video editing and provide a final time that way. I have been doing this for several other games and have experience doing so.

Loads in this game are all fully blank frames and frames that include the bottom right text, "Now Loading..."

In addition it is best to cut the time in GP races between when the player crosses the finish line and when 6th place crosses the finish line (unless the player is 6th or worse) in order to remove arbitrary time that would eliminate gains from completing races quickly.

While I do not always upload the loadless edits by default I do keep them all and can certainly provide them upon request.

I am highly curious myself. The XBox One X plays the QTE at the end of Lost Episode 1 at a speed that makes it nearly impossible to successfully clear it - I imagine that problem will be worse, but Part I-III and IV... I want this thing.

Thread: PSN viable?

Started by: PartyElectrifyPartyElectrify

The PSN version will load somewhat faster than the PS2 on disc and probably about the same speed as most viable emulation via PCSX2 - having said that the leaderboard is loadless so that doesn't matter.

There are some differences in what lags the PS2 vs what lags the PSN copy of it, so likely the PSN copy will lose a little bit of extra time due to that, however it isn't enough time to be a big concern unless/until you reach very high performance levels.

Thread: Concerning In Game Time.

Started by: Zana_GZana_G

IGT or In Game Time in God Hand is a complete disaster and is not used for the leaderboards at all. Not only is it wildly inconsistent but it can also be forced to show times far below the IGT clear time simply by mashing through the final scorecard.

Please, PLEASE, stop submitting with IGT.

It's kind of a shitshow of a run (due to the SF portions). But yeah, I was thinking of adding those as well.

More than that. Acm, myself, Watchmuh, you, and Leviticus. There might be more under the radar.

For a quick explanation, the loadless edits simply remove all frames that contain the red Metal Slug with LOADING... in the bottom right corner, these are always found on the transitions with the fullscreen blast door.

Just as I've done on the God Hand leaderboard, now that there are runs of differing setups with different loadtimes and such I'll be doing manual loadtime removal with a video editor and the leaderboard will be based on those times.

If any final time ever comes into question just let me know and I'll provide the loadless VOD.

Thread: Slowdown doesn’t exist on emulator?

Started by: JHolleworthJHolleworth

I'm not a fan of banning emus personally, if the emu has some major advantages/disadvantages over the actual hardware I'd be more likely to simply make them separate categories. This is interesting because the last time I tried to emulate this game it was slow as hell basically everywhere.

Thread: Emulator Usage

Started by: AzethKAzethK

I haven't done extensive research into emulation for this game. However, from what experience I have dabbling with it so far I saw it lag in different places than the PS2, i.e. places where the PS2 lags will play smoothly in emulation and vice versa. At the moment I see no reason to disallow emulators. Submit your run(s) and just make sure that you include which emu you're running the game on in the run description.

Actually, from any of my testing the loadtimes are practically identical. The HUGE improvement on XB1 is more due to the fact that the game doesn't lag nearly as much or as often.

Also if you wanna help fix the lack of runners thing, I'd appreciate it. 🙂

As the topic suggests, Asura's Wrath has been added to the list of games that the One has backwards compatibility for and as such the console has been listed. I've done a practice run on it and have seen a couple of streamers play through the game on the console as well and at this time I see no reason that the console shouldn't be valid for runs.

So... I stumbled upon a thing. Turns out that if you're reloading when you enter the water your gun is reloaded instantly. Turns out once that happens any interruption of your reloading animation also causes your weapon to refill instantly - like melee attacks. This seems to go away if the game loads again.

I was aware that certain spots would let you stand in positions that made no-clipping a thing by default like the hostess thing, but because the game is so heavily scripted in terms of what events are allowed to happen and when, likely the only thing you could do with it is get between point A and B in a specific spot a little faster. I never really played around with it much tbh.

You DO NOT need to calculate this yourself, I'll get around to it, just submit with the RTA and you're golden.
