More than that. Acm, myself, Watchmuh, you, and Leviticus. There might be more under the radar.

For a quick explanation, the loadless edits simply remove all frames that contain the red Metal Slug with LOADING... in the bottom right corner, these are always found on the transitions with the fullscreen blast door.

Just as I've done on the God Hand leaderboard, now that there are runs of differing setups with different loadtimes and such I'll be doing manual loadtime removal with a video editor and the leaderboard will be based on those times.

If any final time ever comes into question just let me know and I'll provide the loadless VOD.

Thread: Slowdown doesn’t exist on emulator?

Started by: JHolleworthJHolleworth

I'm not a fan of banning emus personally, if the emu has some major advantages/disadvantages over the actual hardware I'd be more likely to simply make them separate categories. This is interesting because the last time I tried to emulate this game it was slow as hell basically everywhere.

Thread: Emulator Usage

Started by: AzethKAzethK

I haven't done extensive research into emulation for this game. However, from what experience I have dabbling with it so far I saw it lag in different places than the PS2, i.e. places where the PS2 lags will play smoothly in emulation and vice versa. At the moment I see no reason to disallow emulators. Submit your run(s) and just make sure that you include which emu you're running the game on in the run description.

Actually, from any of my testing the loadtimes are practically identical. The HUGE improvement on XB1 is more due to the fact that the game doesn't lag nearly as much or as often.

Also if you wanna help fix the lack of runners thing, I'd appreciate it. 🙂

As the topic suggests, Asura's Wrath has been added to the list of games that the One has backwards compatibility for and as such the console has been listed. I've done a practice run on it and have seen a couple of streamers play through the game on the console as well and at this time I see no reason that the console shouldn't be valid for runs.

I'm not sure if I described that very well so here's a VOD.

So... I stumbled upon a thing. Turns out that if you're reloading when you enter the water your gun is reloaded instantly. Turns out once that happens any interruption of your reloading animation also causes your weapon to refill instantly - like melee attacks. This seems to go away if the game loads again.

I was aware that certain spots would let you stand in positions that made no-clipping a thing by default like the hostess thing, but because the game is so heavily scripted in terms of what events are allowed to happen and when, likely the only thing you could do with it is get between point A and B in a specific spot a little faster. I never really played around with it much tbh.

You DO NOT need to calculate this yourself, I'll get around to it, just submit with the RTA and you're golden.

Thread: Concerning emulator runs...

Started by: Zana_GZana_G

First off emu runs ARE ALLOWED HERE. I just want to make that clear first and foremost. However in light of a recent submission it stands to reason that perhaps there should be an outline here detailing some things that may invalidate such a run.

1] all segments of the game must load correctly. Even if what you're seeing that isn't loaded correctly may not seem to change the gameplay at all it will give rise to us mods to wonder what else didn't load correctly that does change the gameplay.

2] make sure that the gameplay in the emulation is at an accurate speed. Honestly I've never had this problem before with PCSX2 so I'm not sure how to trouble shoot this. In some cases it can be noticed when music tracks in the game do not loop correctly because they are playing at normal speed while the game is not.

3] DO NOT USE WIDESCREEN PATCHES. This hasn't shown up in an emu submission yet, but yes, this will result in an immediate reject.

4] Definitely try to use common sense, if you see something out of the ordinary in your emulation that you feel would not happen in the actual game then it needs to be fixed.

God Hand discord serving up all things God Hand. Easiest and quickest way to be part of the community for speedrunning or otherwise. Easy access to the mods of this leaderboard. Discuss strategies, game mechanics, etc. Also a bot announcing God Hand streams.

This is also now in the Resources section listed as a "Tool". Couldn't think of where else to put it there.

1 - Found a way to separate US runs from J runs. So far I don't like it. I'd really prefer if I could just have the boards side by side rather than having to click on NTSC-J to see the other runs. As it currently is it looks unfair to the Japanese runners and I very much don't want that, I promise I'm looking for a solution!

2 - Easy NG+ should be officially done today with two more runs from another category coming through tomorrow. I intend to work on categories with multiple runs first. Almost all the other categories do have runs I just haven't gotten to uploading them yet.

3 - My video editing software is ancient and I'm looking for something more recent. I'd like to stay with MAGIX simply because that's what I'm used to but if something else more convenient/cost effective comes along that is adequate that'd be good too. As of now the loadless vods are going to look ugly, which despite how much I don't like it is fine, they will only exist for time comparison and to show that the loadless times were calculated accurately - i.e. someone could always go through one of them and tell me that I forgot to cut X or Y loading segment and that the time needs to be adjusted further, thankfully I'm keeping all of the loadless edit project files in case that ever happens.

@kirkq, "That series is weird compared to most of the series on the site and my perception here is that parts of it don't operate so well hierarchically." That's because it is in no way a "series". Like... the Viewtiful Joes are a series, Bayo 1 and 2, but the rest of them are entirely irrelevant to each other aside from developer. Treating them all a series is entirely inappropriate.

Thread: Loadless Timing

Started by: Zana_GZana_G

For the sake of transparency of what I'm doing with loadless times, I have downloaded all of the current runs - and will continue to download future runs, and then video edit all of the loading out to provide a proper loadless final time.

The loading mostly consists of the "golden letters" screens that are obviously loading screens, but also dead frames between interacting with the shop and the shop menu actually coming up.

Loading screens are being edited out as such - cut from the last frame just prior to the golden letters appearing to the first frame just after they disappear. At the shop from the first frame where the HUD has disappeared to the last frame before the shop menu begins to appear.

I will be uploading the loadless videos on my own YT channel as "unlisted" and not monetized videos simply for the purpose of comparison and clarification that the process is being done consistently and correctly.

Also, I'll be uploading every run to my channel as well as "Private" (also not monetized) to ensure that every run continues to have video proof (as it is required). If for any reason a VOD disappears, instead of removing the run from the leaderboard, I will mark the relevant video as "Unlisted" then redirect the run there.

Edit - I'm still working on getting updating the current runs with their loadless times, it will take a long time.

Further edit - I'm only going to do one of these a day and maybe only on my days off of work, so again, will take a very long time.

Further further edit - Time without Loads is now part of the leaderboards layout and is the default comparison time for rankings. When you submit a run you do NOT need to worry about filling this in, just leave it at 0:00:00 and it will be left blank, I will get to it when I can.

Okay, not going to lie, not sure how exactly I want to separate the US runs from the JP runs. The versions are very different in terms of enemy behavior and it warrants them being separate. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
