Pac-Man Museum, which includes this game, has been delisted from Steam but surely you could find some other means of obtaining it. You could also probably find this game on any website that hosts arcade roms.

Exiting the game and launching it again is fine as long as the timer keeps going.

It's been a while since I've done a run, but I think I remember restarting the game halfway through to avoid the crash.

I spoke with the original creator of the category, and he had this to say:

"Like the original intent was of the first category was to gather all the chaos emeralds of course and find cool routing to do so.
And the book which is only normally reachable with super form seemed like a good finish line
Also is why super form is required".

Allowing darkspine would go against the original idea of the category, so it will not be allowed.

If you would like to do a run with darkspine and submit it, I will create a new category for it.

If you do runs for any other categories, I will add them.

Due to the game receiving major updates, I have archived the old category and created a new one.

DS still isn't available to select as a platform though. I've been playing on DS recently as well, so adding the option would be good.

Carter's new run features a route where the game is reset after warps and restarted from a previous world, similar to smb2 allstars any%. From a fresh game, I thought you could only select worlds that were completed, not ones skipped entirely? I run on everdrive, so maybe this is just an oddity and I'm mistaken?

Splitting the categories wouldn't be good. Maybe add a field so you can tell from a glance which character was played.

Interested in running this game. I see that all of the best runz are done on Catz. I only have Dogz. Is there any difference in time?

The current WR by Smashman64 is very clearly fake. I came to suspect this after seeing its low framerate and being unable to find anything online about the "overload glitch" very vaguely described in the world record progression video.
If the glitch is fake, which it indeed is, let's dissect how he did it. On the left of his screen, the chat box is all glitchy and stuff. A reverse image search of it shows us this gif.

This gif IS the glitchy text box seen in the Smashman64's "world record" run. A simple Google search of "glitchy gif" will net you this as the 7th result. Smashman64 simply placed this over the chat box and proceeded to use other hacks to fake this "overload glitch".
