I do dislike having a huge amount of categories, but it's also silly to void all old stats with a new update or to force everyone to play the old version which would also block online play. I feel adding a variable is the lesser of the evils

Having a version variable would be nice I think, especially if anyone could just delete update data. I've heard Wii U doesn't usually allow that, but I'm not sure how exactly it works

Whether or not it's misc doesn't really matter. It's still spreading out competition and it's basically just a combo category of all Time Attacks. There's really no reason for it to exist tbh.
Besides, there's currently 4 empty boards (not including Sub and Super subcategories), the last thing we need is to add more

Basically, a category needs to have a meaning and be unique. Championship is unique because of the CPU racers. TA is unique because no other racers, dev times and respawns don't give energy like Championship. Hero Mode is unique for various reasons. 300% is everything put together. And that's all we need IMO.

I'm against having categories be the same thing on all leagues, even as misc. It adds a lot of unnecessary stuff that will most likely stay empty, or at most have 1 run. That's just silly.

We're a small community. Keep it simple so the competition is more focussed.

I've made it so that anyone can put comments on the spreadsheet. Just right click a cell and add a comment. For a lot of them I'm not sure what leagues they can be done on so if you guys wanna help with that, that'd be great

Good to hear they announced a patch! I'm hoping they don't fix the cool shortcuts, but even if they do it's a small price to pay to prevent all the reverse driving ones

Speaking of which. since that's possible on so many tracks now, should I bother adding all of them individually? Once they all have videos I guess that would be fine, but for now I'm not sure what to do about it

Logo in top left says speedrunS.com, not speedrun.com. It still works but it's not the name of the site ('w')
It looks really cool btw, good job to whoever made it

If that update does come I'm okay with that. But for now I don't really see a point. Rather wait until the patch actually comes to see what it fixes, if anything (online crashing is probably highest priority right now for them)
I know glitches can make quite some difference, but there really aren't any right now outside of some lap skips, which would be banned under the "No Skips" rule

I decided it'd be a good idea to keep track of all skips currently known, so here's a spreadsheet

Gonna try to keep this as up-to-date as possible and have videos for every skip
If you know of any skips that aren't listed, please let me know

Also if any of you can get the 1st Zvil Raceway skip consistent (the one where you just crash at the start and sometimes it skips a lap) PLEASE let us know. A couple of us have looked at it but can't figure out why it works.

My current theory is that it checks how far you've travelled every time you respawn. Once you hit a certain threshold it gives you the lap upon respawning (since you're on the finish line). This would make sense because it seems to give you the lap in a consistent interval (usually about 1.5 minutes) and when I was going for quick deaths it took longer (almost 3 minutes a lap). If this is the case, the "skip" is entirely useless.

This would also make sense with other tracks. You can't repeat the same shortcut over and over to get 3 second laps. This would again be because you haven't travelled far enough in that lap. I reckon it's not the full distance of the track but maybe >50% or something? What do you guys think about it?

I think it should just be Skips/No Skips. There's not really any "glitches", just a physics quirk. So Skips should cover everything (for now)
Though personally I'm not a fan of these type of categories, and I don't think it's necessary so far. If anything I'd make it a variable, not a category

Beating dev times is required for 300% as far as I know. Then again I beat all dev times without ever going back to the menu so idk if it gets to 100% without beating em
Whatever the game counts for 100% is what we should go for

I reckon the only category that requires a new file is 100% (/300% just so it's clear we're talking about all modes, not just 1). Would be an alright category if someone does run it

EDIT : 1 last thing before I go to sleep, Hero Mode doesn't have cups. Would make more sense to say "All Tracks Hero Mode" or simply "Hero Mode" for simplicity

All Leagues currently still has the 3 subcategories, which doesn't really make sense. Can that be fixed?
Outside of that it's looking great now

Also noticed that DVPShady's Scorpio Circuit run is incorrect, it's meant to be 1:57, not 0:57. Got really confused seeing that lol

As for the proof thing, I don't see why we would make a distinction between Cup or IL runs. They both display ingame. Either require for both or neither. Both would be preferred but I realize it's not practical, so I'd say allow pics for both then.

You can do Subsonic league at any point, my point is that starting from a new file, you ONLY have Subsonic, not the other 2. So calling it any% and just doing Hypersonic League wouldn't make sense
And yeah "All Leagues" works just fine, didn't really think that through hehe

Hero Mode would definetly be cool to have too

Alright I guess I'll start with the feedback ('w')

Any% implies new game, which would be Subsonic only, AND require a new Wii U user account for every run since you can't delete your save as far as I know. Should be renamed to "All Cups"
100% implies everything in the game, which is not correct. Hell, it's not even 100% Championship, since that requires a gold trophy on every track (minus 1. You can get 100% on the counter with a single silver because rounding). Renamed to "All Leagues All Cups" or something along those lines (though I'm still against the category as a whole but if people want it then whatever)

Other than that the rule descriptions seem good to me. Though "No cheating" is a bit unnecessary ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

IMO we should have Hyper as main, Sub and Super as misc categories, and individual cups moved to the Level Leaderboard

I don't really see a point for a full Championship run (which btw can't be called 100% for various reasons). What's the point of running the same tracks 3 times, at an increasing speed? Just go 300% at that point tbh. We don't have enough runners to warrant too many categories

Also I'm against "Beat dev times" because it's literally Time Attack. If you know what you're doing the times are free. They're not a challenge like F-Zero GX for example, so there's not really a novelty to it

I'm down with both of these changes. Somehow I never thought of adding a 5th option to the difficulty to fix the problem of different ones being used. Though I'd suggest calling it "Mix" rather than "Custom"

If we do implement these changes I do ask of you all to calculate the IGT for your own All Tracks Time Attack run, because it does take some time. Also, not like it's a big issue, but if you die from falling off course and the video is 30 FPS, it might be off by 1/60 per death. I personally don't really care but it's worth pointing out

You're free to run the game without flying. We're not going to create a glitchless category though. It's impossible to define it anyway. Staff ghosts slide. Staff ghosts also do double taps on the half pipe to gain speed, which is just the ground version of a DTD (the big dives that give you crazy speeds). The half pipe technique was even mentioned in an interview with the developers. They knew about it, but kept it in, so you can't really say it's a glitch.
And AGG is only applicable in a few tracks, but it's super risky so not many people would do it anyway.

As for the difficulty, there is already Novice and Master, you don't really need anything else. I could just combine all difficulties into a single leaderboard, with the difficulty as an extra value, so you can do it in whatever difficulty you want. Guess that would look a bit cleaner aswell.

We don't want to add a billion categories for a game that has basically no runners. Also there isn't enough difference between every difficulty to warrant a category for each one. The only existing runs were done on Master, though I understand this creates a high entry barrier, so I added Beginner too.
I don't see a point in single cup runs personally, though if more people want it I would be okay to add them as misc categories.
