I will need to confer with other mods. Do you know if you are able to stream the game to twitch.tv ? If you could get a working stream set up, you could export to youtube or download the stream itself after doing it. |

What type of set up are you suggesting? |

I appreciate the answer. I did not think that was an actual guide from the title of it. Is anyone actively doing much with this game? Anyone streaming it regularly? |

I've been considering picking up this game for a run but I am having lots of trouble hitting the wall jump. Can anyone give more extensive insight or tips to hit the ones that are required in the run? I would also appreciate any general tips or easy route changes to ease the learning process. |
Forum: Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow Thread: Leaderboard Rules Changes and Individual Level Boards (July 27th, 2018) Started by: Turbodog702Turbodog702 |
Short post here to say I will be modifying the start of the run time to remove the loading time on 1-1. As mentioned in a previous thread, the level could be pre-loaded to reduce time needed to load. This was rather silly for the purpose of skill based optimization. Runs will now be started upon confirming the stage start after the loading screen on the voice over narration. Individual Level (IL) leaderboards have now been implemented in a basic form to allow for greater optimization of stages. At this time, I am allowing timestamps in full run videos so that gold splits are able to be tracked as ILs if the runner wants. |

So every time that I said publicly that I thought ACE was an actual speedrun category but not particularly interesting I was rejecting it? No one cares enough to to figure out the verification process for this style of run. You decided this was something you wanted to pursue. A decision was made that since this was an inactive category that verification would be relaxed in order to have a platform to show the work done by the glitch hunting community, yourself included. So the ACE board was made despite the fact that verifying a run like this is basically impossible since it directly has to deal with changing unseen values that apparently are inconsistent based on a number of factors. Making the board was an inclusive effort to show a different style of play that centered around menuing, something very different from normal play. It was also created as archival for anyone else who wished to pursue this style of play. The fact is, no one is running this category because people think it is boring and unappealing. Same reason Low% Mist and Low% Bat are not being run. It is also the same reason PSP Maria All Bosses isn't run. If you were to ask any of the normal Twitch community that knows me, they would say that I have given approval of the ACE run and its progress. I acknowledge it is a category that exists, but is uninteresting to the vast majority of players. |

Also, since it was mentioned Save Corruption can pre-load code from an existing file, you may want to have a clean memory card file on both slots, and start from power on for the console, not just loading the game into the PS3, Edit: I do not recall if the game itself saves a Clear state without a memory card on PSN emulation. If it doesn't, I'm not sure a Richter run would be verifiable. |

So when is sub 4 Richter Save Corruption? |
Forum: Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow Thread: Possible to add NG to Categories? Started by: |
LoS1 is the hardest speedgame I've had to learn. Now that I understand, I can teach people though to make it easier. I won't pretend my times are unbeatable; they aren't. Someone will have to go in the tank to do so, or be Findlestick or satvara. |
Forum: Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow Thread: Possible to add NG to Categories? Started by: |
As a follow up, I did a really sloppy NG run just to try some things out. I managed a 4:35 so sub 4 seems reasonable to show merit in the category. I do think with really good execution something like 2:40 should be on the table. I do plan on working on this at some point. Infinite Jump is difficult for me to do at this time. |
Forum: Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow Thread: Possible to add NG to Categories? Started by: |
I could upload my save for Ultimate Edition on Steam if that sounds reasonable? So New Game is kind of a thing. FIndlestick recently made some discoveries that would make the category interesting, but quite brutal to run well. Without his infinite jump, the category is very bland in many places, and converges into a similar route with way worse resources after double jump. I have aspirations to look into it more later on. It would also rely heavily on item luck, with possible revisits to resource dense levels to speed up farming. If you can get a run completed in under... 4 hours let's say, I might be willing to make a board for it. Rules set would be similar to NG+. Must be a fresh file with no EXP or items unlocked. |
Forum: Castlevania: Harmony of Despair Thread: Dispute on RaidenDX run Started by: Turbodog702Turbodog702 |
Copy and pasted from Discord for simplicity: "as a flat statement, I am against software and hardware modification using anything other than 1st party hardware or patching. The strength of consoles is to have a baseline hardware to compare runs against. By modifying the console, it inherently changes the means to compare. I also disagree with splitting the categories to account for this. I consider this the exact same thing as using a macro enabled controller. The only possible 3rd party items should be controllers, and even then, only to make a game more comfortable to play, not to give a direct advantage based on input device. I do not think this was done maliciously since it was announced in comments and thus I do not feel a banning or complete wipe of Raiden's times is merited." I would extend the allowed 3rd party items to include cables and capture modifications (modding NES to output RGB for example) as long as they do not impact the baseline system performance. I think an appropriate solution is to roll back RaidenDX's time to their last submission before this one. |

In the submission it is stated that an SSD replaced the HDD on the PS3. This is a hardware modification and should not be allowed. |

I heard from some source that PSP has a better run cycle on Travis or something? Like he runs further per step. I have no idea if true or not. |

There are no notes to give. Its a very simple and straightforward run at this time. Just memorize the routing. Churchnsarge has a GDQ submission video that talks more about the run. |

There is a Discord but it is so small as to be non-active. You can add me on Discord and I can try to impart what I know. I also recently published some minor notes on my current NG+ strategies in the Guides section on this page. |
Forum: Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow Thread: Leaderboard Rules Changes and Clarifications (October 15th, 2017) Started by: Turbodog702Turbodog702 |
I recently was appointed as a moderator to this game. Though there are only a scant few runs on the leaderboards, I took the initiative to rewrite the rules page in order to make it more comprehensive and clarify expectations for runs. Though the rules set is much longer, there is still some room for considerations later on. I would like to add a "New Game" category eventually, and I would also like to implement an individual level leaderboard. For ILs, I am not sure if we should only allow NG+ or also allow "All Upgrades" cheat. I am leaning towards only NG+. Another consideration is if we want to allow pre-loading of Besieged Village, or change the start of timing to when you confirm starting the level (after the text crawl) to remove loading for that level universally. Pre-loading involves clearing 1-1 and then restartting the level with it already loaded in memory to reduce the time to load. I am leaning towards starting the level so that a pre-load completion isn't necessary. |
