I think this is a great idea. I have seen at least 1 or 2 people do runs of the "GBC trifecta" lately.

Thread: [Series Info] Creation of the LoZSSHD Leaderboards

Started by: TreZc0TreZc0

(edited: )

Hello everyone.
The Skyward Sword HD leaderboards have been created.
Before the game's release later this month, the administration will be handed to well known members of the original game's speedrunning Discord.

Categories and rules will be defined by them afterwards.
The game's release date will be fixed on release date, as SRC doesn't allow to set a date in the future.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on Discord.

Hey there, this was settled in discord, but just to clarify here as well.

The game will be created a lot closer to launch date, and moderation rights will be given to the current admins of the LoZSS boards if they want to. We usually do not hand out permissions to users with no apparent connection to the original game.

The old collectors edition is not run separately, so we don't really see a reason to create it, unless a community forms around it doing multi game runs.

@DaravaeDaravae done! https://www.speedrun.com/links_crossbow_training_category_extensions

Is it possible to grant me that permission too? I know that multiple people on staff can vouch for me.

@SeydieSeydie I agree to @SpinjuSpinju 's request. I imagine there is no way for me to create the extensions myself as part of LCT, is there?

Well to be fair, if you expect series mods, who usually should be trusted people for an entire community, to abuse this system, there is a whole different problem to solve first. Not sure if that's the right approach, especially with your way of responding to this here at first..

But oh well, I'll take it - makes my job and the job of other series mods easier, which should be a good motivation.

Hey folks,

I was wondering if it was possible to allow Series Moderators to set the Game Type setting for new games. As we are allowed to create new games now and are more frequently asked to handle game requests within our franchises, it seems like it would make good sense to allow us to set that setting.
Any chance?

Heya folks,
not sure if I can do this myself, at least I didn't find it,
but can you please add the https://www.speedrun.com/3D_Zelda_Relay board to the Zelda series?
I'm a mod for both, so this shouldn't really be an issue 🙂

That's not the point, and no, you shouldn't be banned, it just was a really daring and quite annoying thing to say.

My advice for you: Get started - start running games, interact with the different zelda communities, find folks to play with. And if you find folks to excite about the idea, we will talk again.

I replied to the above post about the multiple Zelda games in the specific game's forum, where I already handled these somewhat weird requests months ago. I doubt anyone really thinks i "do nothing" ;-) have a nice day everyone.

@DemataPyroDemataPyro that's a nice way of treating someone, going behind their back, then stating "they do nothing".
Ever since I took over Zeldaspeedruns.com almost 3 years ago, my personal commitment has been unquestioned by anyone actually involved in the community, as it exceeds I wanna say 95% of community members' commitment. So good job trying to get something by straight out being disrespectful and uninformed.

As for the games, you're lacking information too. Multiple 2d Zelda games asked specifically not to be shown here, as they focus on TAs, not real time runs of the serieses. Given that I know about the activity of the other games, heavily struggling lately to even find runners for the games by itself, your suggestions seem like a cheap attempt to find uncontested records.

If the communities are actually interested in having these categories, they know where to find me and will contact me.
Better luck initiating a contact with me next time, maybe being respectful could help.

Honestly, the danger of breaking something while opening your switch with the required 3rd party tools is a lot higher than keeping the factory applied thermal paste on it, so that argument is kinda void.

In response to the posts of Galactico and HowDen, I am okay with https://www.speedrun.com/loztppic (Picross: Twilight Princess) being added to the Zelda series. 😉

Thread: Adjustment to CHN / iQue region

Hey there,

currently, we have 6 different regions on SRC for leaderboards.
USA / NTSC
EUR / PAL
JPN / NTSC
CHN / iQue
KOR / NTSC
BRA / PAL

With the new set of old gamecube games coming out for the Nvidia Shield in China, "CHN / iQue" is not really correct anymore.
Since iQue is it's own platform / console here and could be used that way on the OoT leaderboards, would it be possible to rename "CHN / iQue" to "CHN / PAL"? This way, it could be categorized properly on the Twilight Princess leaderboards.
