Hello. I recently have been bothered by the lack of timing rules on the "Mickey's Safari in Letterland" page. The first WR holder didn't have a running timer and it was quite hard to see when timing started, hence why now everyone on the page seems to use a different timing (time at cutscene, or time upon entering last letter. Start at input or start at blackout).

I tried to contact the moderator Dugongue, but he failed to respond to my messages on both Twitter and Twitch.TV. So, I'm wondering if I can request mod to finally post a fixed timing rule so all runners would follow that specific rule, because this seems like a last resort to fix chaos. X3

Thanks.

Added XtremePrime to Mickey's Safari in Letterland to clarify/adjust timings and rules

I'll add acarebox to Bloodborne. The categories make no sense right now and a bunch of the any% types overlap or are ambiguous as to which version, so try to organize it in a way that is more readable.

The moderation request handlings are a bit ambiguous/inconsistent at the moment, which emphasizes the need for us to lay out some guidelines/expectations, which I will start working on this week. I don't know exactly when I'll finish.

I'd like to be a mod of Resident Evil 3's page, because it is my favorite game that I run. Could I be?

To us, that doesn't seem to be a good enough reason. You can still ask directly the supermod of Resident Evil 3 (Carcinogen) to add you as a moderator.

The current Super Mario 3D World Supermod (Rare) has been inactive for about a year. The community would appreciate it if he wasn't a supermod, and that the supermod is replaced by Vallu111 so more mods could be added that currently run the game. Thanks!

I'd like to be added as a moderator for the Mario Kart: Double Dash page. I will be 100% honest and admit that the reason I am requesting this is that I disagree about the category decisions that have been made by the current moderators, none of whom even have a time listed I may add. The fact that I have the 2nd best (listed) time after only Andreas Rudmarker is proof that I know what I'm talking about.

I feel I've shown myself to be a competent moderator since I'm a supermod for the Metroid series and I single-handedly maintain the leaderboards for all three Metroid Prime games, which involved manually entering in more than 200 runs by non-speedrun.com members by myself. I also check the site more than once per day to ensure that new runs are added in a timely fashion, which is apparently more than any of the MKDD mods can say.

1: What changes do you want to make to MK:DD?

I've played the game quite a bit, so feel free to explain it like I know what's going on 😛 Skips, no skips? Timing starts where, lack of cc option, etc?

The Mario Kart series moderators have times in the other games, so I think maybe just Double Dash might not be their main thing.

2: Metroid Prime:

Just mentioning this while we're here. Separate from the MKDD discussion.

Having all times listed as both SS and Non-SS seems really weird to me. I assume segmented allows me to reload as many times as I want to optimize the in-game timer. The single-segment runs do not utilize this option, so I think it is misleading to put them in the same table.

The line of thought would be similar to saying a generic 100% run completes any%, but shouldn't be listed in the any% table because the criteria is radically different.

MKDD:

The changes I want to make are to track Mirror Mode times and default to sorting by IGT. One of the current moderators has shot me down on both counts. The reason for Mirror Mode not being tracked is that it's not different enough from 150cc and the reason it's currently sorted by RTA is to prevent people from playing on 50Hz. I don't really feel either of those are very good reasons.

Metroid Prime:

I have a few points of discussion here.

The reason that there are a lot of SS times also listed as segmented times is that SS runs qualify as segmented runs by default. (A segmented run with 1 segment, for example.) It would be disingenuous to only show runs with more than one segment on the segmented leaderboards since most all of the top times were done SS, and literally anybody could just save at the last possible save station and redo the final fight and get the same time, but with 2 segments. There's no need for that.

For reference, the best segmented run that was actually planned as a segmented run was Sparky's 1:01 which he did in 15 segments. Miles has a 0:56 SS and T3 has a 0:54 SS, so showing any leaderboard with a 1:01 as the top time wouldn't really make any sense since there have been more recent runs done with faster routes and a higher levels of execution.

All that being said, I'm personally very sympathetic to the crowd who don't think that segmented runs (at least for Metroid Prime) should be on the site in the first place. The reason I added them is that I encountered a significant amount of backlash from the community when I didn't add them. A lot of top players insisted vehemently that both categories be included in any leaderboards claiming to represent the community, so I pretty much just gave in to the pressure.

For reference, the total number of times anyone has submitted a new segmented PB for any of the three games is... zero. Every time someone submits a new SS PB I have to go edit their segmented time manually, and no one who uses this site has submitted a multi-segment run since I created the leaderboards.

MKDD:

I added you. I tend to think tracking more things is better than less if it's all good information that doesn't add clutter.

Metroid Prime:

If that's what the community actually wants I guess that's fine. It looks strange to me personally putting all the times in both tables when the single segment runs are just suboptimal segmented runs. A 100% run is an any% run but people don't put it in both categories. I guess I'm just rambling at this point, I don't have a preference if that's what the community wants.

I would like to request a switch in moderation for Long Live the Queen. This is based on a few reasons but mostly based on the fact that the current moderator for the game has never run the game.

And after I submitted a run for the any% category I asked them about a strange restriction in the any% rules. To which they promptly changed the category to be that rule, showing a lack of understand about what any% means.

I don't think someone who doesn't run a game should be allowed to make decisions about the game, and if I was moderator I would open discussion to the people that actually run the game to collectively decide.

I'm happy to get rid of some percentage sign categories.

Thanks for the help KirkQ.

I'm requesting to be removed from all boards I'm currently mod of, being Streets of Rage 1, 3 & 3. Thanks!

  kirkq

Done.

(I think super moderators can remove themselves, but ideally all moderators should be able to. Although I'm not sure if it warns or lets you if there's only one moderator left.)

  QuitRage

Hey there, requesting to moderator of Oceanhorn: Monster of uncharted seas. Ukebae is the only active mod and it would be nice to have 2.

Yes, you can remove yourself as moderator and no, it doesn't warn you if you're the only mod or supermod. (I did this once and had to get an admin to re-add me lol)

Requesting to be added as a moderator for Kid Chameleon. The WR time & link is outdated, but the only mod hasn't logged in in over a month and hasn't responded to the twitch message I sent him a couple weeks ago.

It will prevent you from removing the only supermod. Admittedly that prevention was broken for a while but it is working now.

Apart from the fact that there are already 2 mods, if Ukebae is active you should talk to him about getting added as a mod. As per the first post:

Please keep in mind that using this thread is somewhat a last resort, in case the current moderators are not responding or refusing your help without justification. You should always start by asking the Super mods of a game/series as they are also able to add mods.

  Skull64

Oh, never mind then. Glad to see that got fixed.

Hello all,

I was the member that requested the Trauma Center games be added to speedrun.com (I can provide proof with the notification if necessary).

May I please be a moderator of the Trauma Center series? Irisjoker is currently the only moderator and I'd like to help out since I also run the game(s).

  Klashik

Have you tried contacting him over Twitch or Twitter?
