Hi and welcome. |
Forum: Thief (2014) Thread: New rules for IL runs Started by: TheStunningParallelTheStunningParallel (edited: ) |
I have made a change to the rules for IL runs to be that "Time Without Loads" now means, for all chapters, the RTA time, excluding load screens only, starting from the first frame when the title of the chapter reads ("The Drop", "Lockdown", etc) and finishing the first frame of when the word "COMPLETED" reads on the screen, with the exception of the prologue and "The Dawn's Light". This means the in-game timer is irrelevant, which in turn means that for existing runs, I will have to re-time them. |

For those who really likes the challenge, I've added a Custom Master category for the chapter runs. Turn on all options except Iron Man and Chapter Saves Only and go for it! =) |

If you want to see or submit runs for this DLC mission, use this direct link: Or click on Sub-games to find it. I made it as a sub-game because it would have messed up the layout for the chapter IL's otherwise (with the five Bank Heist categories being irrelevant for the chapters, of course). |

Ouch. I had written a lot of text here but got a "405 not allowed". Either way, hi Gym. In short, all that normally is missing for runners is to talk to Anton once before and twice after showing him the pictograph, as seen in my new video (I replaced the old one in my first post with the new one). So three times in total, at the same occasion. I might have made an unnecessarily big deal out of this and also come to the wrong place doing it, but I hope no one feels like I have been some sort of plague here. I only had the best intention and wanted to help out. Here's to more randos from you gym and a good weekend to everyone. =) Lastly, to avoid confusion again, the new video is this one: |

So two things. I covered in my guide here that you need to play Song of Passing before taking the color pic of Linda and showing to Anton. I doubt however that's the only trigger, since, like you see in the video, Anton doesn't "want to go on a date" just by showing the photo once to him and then talking to him. And this guide was always directed to people doing 100% randomizer runs, since the SD/HD 100% routing makes this whole quest a non-issue. Also, I don't consider myself knowledgeable enough to write guides for such routes or people. I wrote this 6 months ago as well, so I don't know why you think I am aiming this guide to hundo runners, and thus why you compare HD/SD and SD randos when the goals are so totally different and the rules and conditions as well. |

I want to give this thread an update, as "further investigation" about this side quest has shown two things. Thanks to the randomizer allowing to choose starting items, I have done some more testing and now I am certain you have to do the Lenzo's assistant side quest first. Not more and not less. This was done on the latest version of the randomizer. It might also help for everyone interested to post the video description (steps) here for easy access: While I can't say I'm 100% sure you have to play it out exactly like in this video, and you could take a more casual photo of Linda to show Anton, this is how you make sure to get the desired result. Also, if Anton is a bit "slow" (like in this video and his amnesic dialog), just talk to him until the right trigger is hit, and/or show him the same pictograph again (i.e.: don't play the Song of Passing or take a new pictograph of Linda). Nothing else is needed than what's shown in the video, such as e.g. completing a dungeon or receiving some other item(s) or going somewhere and come back. |

Yeah, well, it's pretty easy. With moonjump you can "jump" high enough to actually get over this incredibly big barrier, once you've cancelled the knockback with the wind waker, of course. Otherwise you'd still fail. AFAIK. It's a dead horse anyway. |

Yeah I have seen both that run and many other runs of people doing this. My point with this guide was that once you have gotten the Deluxe Pictobox, this is all you need to do, that is in my guide. All in all, the steps I do in my video are very few and it's quick. |

Do you have evidence this works? I believe I tried your version without it working, but I might be wrong. |

Hello! If you don't mind, I made a short video guide on how to complete this sidequest quickly. The reason being I have seen some of you (not mentioning any names) struggle a bit with it, knowing what the triggers are, in randomizers, for example. This can be helpful for people doing 100% runs as well, but I'm sure most of you already should know this, right? After a couple of decades or so playing TWW. Anyway, here's my humble video: |

Thanks for the replies! ❤️ The setting is there in x360ce and it only took a little bit of testing and tweaking (oops, that almost became "twerking" because keyboard) et voilà: you can now play RE Zero flawlessly with the GC controller (if you have the MF adapter too, of course)! The only thing is that there are "too few" buttons (as everyone knows) so you have to ditch e.g. the input for taking out the map (which is useless anyway and you can find it via the status screen). For the Dead Zone settings, this works fine: I guess this is good news if you want to play this game with the GC controller, right? |

I finally got my GC controller to work (via the Mayflash Wii U/PC adapter) on PC/Steam with x360ce. I was thrilled to be able to play RE 0 with the muscle memory I built up during a decade or so. (I suck at using a re-mapped PS4 controller, which is what I've used so far.) Is there a way to fix this, if anyone has tried? It would be so sweet to get the both of two worlds. Thanks on beforehand for any and all help. |
Forum: Resident Evil Zero Thread: Timing Method Started by: 0_yami_00_yami_0 |
I've run this game since forever, but not a whole lot on Easy (since it's way too easy), but I didn't actually remember there not being a completion time screen. But there are many games on Speedrun.com that have their main Any% category on a difficulty like that, where it's almost impossible to die and you have other huge benefits. Even if that game is so much better on Normal or higher. I think the main argument here would be that there is no result screen on Easy and you'd have to go through the effort to calculate RTA (I'm glad I don't have that assignment). It sounds like you are a bit "proud", FurryWolfz about the Normal category and want to defend it and the runners? I don't see the point and I don't think it's a reason to stop it from being a category. |

I don't agree with it being a typically co-op feature...? It's available in both modes. |

My question and comment here is, is Speedrun.com only for super godlike pros or for everyone? Not all speedrunners can compare with the best, naturally. Also, A. there aren't many runners for this game and B. some runners have gone to other games or are just taking a break indefinitely. |

I want to ask why you who do this category don't add the infinite ammo option? It would save a ton of time in The Power of the Underworld (and some time in The Silent Riddler). |
