Sorry for the late response!

Digital Foundry has a video covering the differences here:

TL;DR: Framerate is more stable on Xbox One and picture quality is improved. Not sure about loading times. Can't really say if anything would change from a speedrunning context since I don't own either Xbox version, but I imagine the One version would be better simply due to performance upgrades.

Thread: Are cosmetic mods allowed in runs?

Cosmetic mods are currently disallowed in Bayonetta speedruns, as are mods that change the visuals of the buttons. It's definitely annoying, but the Xbox button prompts are in identical locations to the buttons on PlayStation so you can just make a mental note of that during runs.

Hey everyone,

Submissions for speedruns of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will be disallowed until at least ~April 8th. Hopefully, this should be enough time for the community to address topics related to moderation, categories, and rulesets for runs of the game going forward.

Additionally, we also have a Discord server for the game! Feel free to join here: https://discord.gg/rPbyeJ2dfr.

Thread: Intergrade (PC) runs are now available for submission!

Started by: TheScruffingtonTheScruffington

14 Jan 2022, 20:35

Intergrade (PC) runs are now available for submissions on the FF7R leaderboards! Thanks to Mysterion and several community members testing throughout the process, we also have an LRT that is fully integrated with LiveSplit.

Please keep in mind that there are two currently known issues with the LRT: the Brain Pod split does not seem to track correctly, and you will have to manually undo the Sephiroth split in the event that you need to retry the fight. Also, when submitting PC runs to the leaderboards and using the LRT, the timer is required to be displayed at all times during the run in order to be eligible for submission.

Happy running, PC users!

Thread: Update on the Leaderboards, PC + Console Submission Requirements, & Autosplitter

Started by: TheScruffingtonTheScruffington

27 Sep 2021, 02:02 (edited: 27 Sep 2021, 02:05)

Hello everyone!

We've shared these updates over on the Bayonetta Speedrun Community Discord server ( https://discord.gg/QhpkEcETFK ), but we also wanted to post about them on SRC. Here are the main updates that all runners should be aware of.

1. The current categories are as follows:
- New Game Normal | NG Infinite Flute Glitch | NG+ | NG+ Alfheim Rules

2. We've separated PC runs from Console runs due to new rule updates and the implementation of the newly released Autosplitter (more details below).

3. The aforementioned changes necessitated all previously completed runs being moved to the Miscellaneous 'Legacy' categories. Obviously this isn't an ideal situation, but we wanted to preserve the history of Bayonetta speedruns while ensuring that the main categories adhere to equal competitive standards.

4. PC runners will now be required to limit their FPS to 60, and display their FPS at all times during the run. Galasrinie has provided a setup tutorial for this process here: https://www.speedrun.com/bayonetta/guide/b1e9n

5. PC runners can also submit their runs without loads. The loadremover tool is fully integrated into LiveSplit. To enable, it, please make sure that your LiveSplit comparison is set to compare against Game Time.

6. Console runners must include bootup footage in their submissions. Since it is not possible for console runners to limit their FPS with Rivatuner, this is the only way to ensure that all console runners begin from an equal playing field.

This sums up the main leaderboard and run submission updates! Feel free to stop by the community Discord if you happen to have any questions.

Thread: Bloody Palace Rule Update + DMC5SE Clarification.

Started by: TheScruffingtonTheScruffington

8 Sep 2021, 18:03

Hey folks! We've updated the formatting for the rules for all main leaderboard categories and included new rules specifically related to DMC5SE + Bloody Palace runs. Feel free to browse them. Here are the two new rules/clarifications that runners should be aware of.

1. Runs performed on Special Edition -- even with Turbo Mode disabled -- are banned from the Vanilla DMC5 leaderboards. Please submit all Special Edition speedruns to the DMC5SE leaderboards (https://www.speedrun.com/dmc5se).
2. For full Bloody Palace runs, runners are now required to show footage of the title screen in their submission, including character selection. This will help us identify whether runs are performed on Special Edition or on Vanilla DMC5.

That's all! Thanks for reading.

Thread: Embargo Lifted!

Started by: TheScruffingtonTheScruffington

Hello, runners!

The embargo for leaderboard submissions is now lifted! You're free to submit runs for any of the following four main categories:

New Game Yuito | New Game+ Yuito | New Game Kasane | New Game+ Kasane

There are also three subcategories for the New Game categories, including Any Difficulty, Normal, and Hard.

Make sure to browse the rulesets before submitting. Happy running!

Thread: The Leaderboards for DMC5 Special Edition are now open! Initial categories and NG+ ruleset changes.

Started by: TheScruffingtonTheScruffington

The leaderboards for Special Edition are now open to run submissions!

We'd also like to outline some of our thought processes for the initial categories.

1. There are not many people interested in running that also own a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S.
2. Most new runners seem to be more excited about Vergil, a character that does not have possibilities for new categories specific to him outside of arbitrarily slower ones.
3. Leaderboards with an abundance of empty categories are not particularly inviting for new players.

Going forward, if three different runners can present completed runs for the NG+ Faustless, NG/NG+ No Major Glitches, and Bloody Palace boss categories, we will add them to the board.

Finally, an important change to note is that New Game+ runs are different from the original Devil May Cry 5 speedruns. We will now require users to begin New Game+ speedruns from Prologue so as to maintain consistency with the New Game ruleset.

Thank you, and happy running!

Hello. Could we have the Final Fantasy VII Remake Category Extensions leaderboard (https://www.speedrun.com/ff7rce) added as a category extension of the main Final Fantasy VII Remake leaderboards (https://www.speedrun.com/ff7r)? Thanks in advance!

Do you feel that the full game leaderboards should be timed using RTA, or should a load remover be used instead?

So the benefits of the mod would essentially be preventing FPS drops and ensuring a smoother performance throughout the run?

I'm certainly in favor of showing the FPS counter in all runs, assuming we'll have guides posted for setting up the mod, how to cap your FPS at 60FPS, and how to display your FPS at all times.
