Forum: Apocalypse Thread: Duckstation Started by: The-Wavy-CommanderThe-Wavy-Commander |
Hi folks, I just wanted to ask if duckstation could be added to the accepted emu list? I know extensive testing has been done with MGS and it was proven to have very high accuracy with load times and lag, but its also such a practical wee emulator due to its ease of use and configuration. I am gonna stream the game this evening if anyone would like to have a look for comparison/review purposes etc, but just thought I'd ask the question Thank you |

Very good point, Mogul and this can be applied to so many games as well. In my opinion, the grinding should be kept strictly for the games/runs and not so much when it comes to just getting the fastest setup. Don't get me wrong, there is enjoyment in being able to achieve a competitive setup, along with the inevitable changes from new strats/technology etc, but I think it's also important to recognise where the line is before achieving that setup becomes too laboursome. |

I don't know if it helps, but I never bought a bug zapper in my run. I think there's only 1 unavoidable bug nest in the game - the one in one of the later domains on File Island. I'm pretty sure this nest needs a bit of luck to successfully clear anyway! |

Watching how your runs evolve over time (with practice) is quite the rewarding experience. Or so I've found! |

Hey! Just wanna make sure I didn't miss anything, but loop's method looks a lot faster? He activates the cutscene after about 35 secs but in your vid it takes around 1.06. Runner's preference perhaps? |

I look forward to seeing your eventual run, PR. One thing I considered late on was DNA digivolving MagnaAngemon and whamon and getting the chaos rings before completing the second wave of tournament battles, because at that point, that particular digimon would've been at ultimate with all of those attacks and HP recovery. I considered this to be a slight issue due to one of the file island domains having that unavoidable ret bug, but transferring a server digimon could provide that slight chance of safety. |

Cheers, mate The run is on YouTube if anyone fancies a look. |

It was a single playthrough, I just couldn't complete it in one go so I've had to save and load etc, but the saving/loading is present in the vids. Can I confirm then that the run won't be accepted due to that? It's probably me using the wrong terminologies as I've just realised what a segmented run actually is. My bad! |

Hey folks, Just wondering.. I'm trying to merge all my segments so its a single vid rather than all the splits, but I'm having a hectic time doing so (just for context, it sat at 2% after an hour). Would the run get rejected if I uplooaded the segments to youtube as a playlist and submitted the link to the first one here? I'll persevere if need be, but it'll literally take days to merge the vids. PS, the finish time was 24:31:37. Not quite what I'd hoped for but happy enough. |
Forum: Digimon World 2 Thread: Segmented category? Started by: PrincessRescuerPrincessRescuer |
I agree with a potential addition of a segmented category, especially considering that I'm in the middle of a run myself which will be segmented and the fact that our current runs are all single segment (and those are marathons that should be given their rightful place). I kinda disagree with limiting segments too much, though, mostly on the basis that things happen beyond our control, real life commitments, of course and the possibility of breeding bad behaviours - i.e restarting from the last segment if the run ends unexpectedly instead of restarting the entire run (which is probably also impossible to prove otherwise). I think having a segmented category could incentivise new players as PR has rightly pointed out, but perfecting smaller parts will only reinforce that belief as it could have a positive impact on overall run time. Another way of doing this could be introducing level leaderboards, but it's moot the most popular game in the world. |

Just out of curiosity, how can you show the emulator window? I don't think I've ever cropped them on OBS etc. On that, is there a preferred emulator for Apocalypse? |

Andy, what Habble mentioned is spot on. I wasnt having a go at you specifically and I'd like to apologise if it came across that way. You do have you hands full, but so does everyone. I have a full time job, I'm in a committed relationship and I have a son, not to mention any social obligations as well. I'd lso like to put my name forward as a mod or even to offer assistance (as you mentioned) in lightening that burden. |

Coming back to this. I think it's wrong that my resident evil run which lasted for over 40 mins can get verified within 48 hours yet my not even 13 min street fighter speedrun has been sitting for days sith no update. My pb even before this sat for 4 or 5 days with no update. Especially comparing the amount of moderators. Taking a week to verify a sub 13 run is a bit much. If all the mode are THAT busy, let someone else in? |
