Hard to really say anything without seeing your runs. Are you running on 360? Shield dashing speed is actually really not the major factor in clock rush times so I would definitely suggest making it slower so that you don't have issues, but keep it smooth and consistent.

Also it kind of scales with the run. In some areas mistakes are the thing that causes lag or make it much worse. If you're looking for actual numbers the best I can do is say anywhere from a minute to two minutes.

You probably forgot to get the Cube of Zoe, which is the relic that allows candles to drop hearts and subweapons.

It is a lua script you load into psxjin, it can be found here: https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/castlevania_sotn_collision_box_viewer.html

In fact I'm gonna add it to the resources.

I think it doesn't show some stuff though.

Hopefully one of the other guys that have used an xbox controller on emu steps by and helps. Check out XeiZ's guide and maybe try that https://www.speedrun.com/sotn/guide/j9ei6

A bin with a cue is fine for this game, the good bin is 556MB. Can you clarify what exactly you meant by working in the menus but not the game.

That sounds really weird, could be a faulty ROM file. If not you can try routing through joy2key.

That is a problem that sometimes happens with savestates, it isn't related to the memfile if it is waht I think. Try loading savestates manually through Loadstate>Load From

Usually I see someone hop in and verify a batch of runs once every few days, so don't worry about it.

Only a few rooms seem to load very slightly faster, but people have reported that the game doesn't feel great to play on xbone.

You can browse through the guides section, we have lots of tutorials, guides and resources there. The most documented and thoroughly explained category is Any% NSC so I would suggest going with that. It is lots of fun and the most active and competitive category. You could also try out Maria Any% or Alucard Glitchless Any%, though that one is pretty difficult.

Currently we are not tracking Alucard on Saturn. Shouldn't stop you from running it though, go for it!

Yes you can simply wingsmash above the screen in the room with the gorgons. Positioning is pretty tight if i remember correctly.
